Edna Nelle Kennedy
March 7, 1912 – Feb. 19, 2005
Lifelong Carthage resident, Edna Nelle Kennedy, 92, died Saturday, February 19 in Morristown Manor Nursing Home in Morristown. She was born March 7, 1912 in Carthage, a daughter of the late Jesse and Lena (Buckland) Newsom.
Mrs. Kennedy, a homemaker, was a lifelong member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and was a two-time Past Worthy Matron. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1930.
Survivors include a son, Lynn Kennedy of Connersville; and one granddaughter, Nicole Dugger of Greenfield.
She married Raymond C. Kennedy on June 8, 1935 and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1973. Also preceding her in death was one daughter, Judith Dugger and a sister, Anna Mae Stanley.
Services were held Tuesday, February 22 in the Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage with Rev. Roger Campbell officiating. Burial was be in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage at the family’s convenience.
Visitation was held at the church on Tuesday prior to the service.
Forrest R. Camplin
June 28, 1917 – Feb. 17, 2005
Forrest R. Camplin, 87, a resident of Wilkinson, died Thursday, February 17 at his residence. He was born June 28, 1917 in Shirley, a son of the late Russell and Mae (Lewman) Camplin.
Mr. Camplin was a registered architect for James Associates Architects and Engineers Inc., retiring after 31 years of service. He was a project architect specializing in the construction of schools and churches. At retirement, he was awarded AIA Emeritus status. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, a member of the Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church, Shirley Masonic Lodge #531, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, Knightstown American Legion, The Gideons International, a member of the Guild for religious architects and a veteran of WW II Army Corp of Engineers.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Viola (Reed) Camplin of Wilkinson; three daughters, Gloria Noland of Wilkinson, Mary (husband Tim) Maley of Knightstown, and Rita (husband John) Reuter of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Carrie (husband Tom) Douglas, Ben Noland, David Noland, Thomas Maley, Sarah Maley, Amy Reuter and Amanda Reuter; one niece and nephew.
His brother, Eugene Camplin, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 21 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Jeff Mair officiating. Burial was in McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Sunday, February 20.

Pauline M. Hanna
Aug. 19, 1922 – Feb. 17, 2005
Pauline M. Hanna, 82, of New Castle, died Thursday, February 17 in her home following an extended illness. She was born August 19, 1922 in Burnside, Ky., a daughter of the late Tilford and Laura (Brummett) Anderson.
Mrs. Hanna was a homemaker and worked as a housekeeper for several families. She attended the Knightstown Church of God for many years. She loved to cook.
Survivors include one son, Ernie (wife Mildred) Hanna Jr. of New Castle; five grandchildren, Mark (wife Judy) Hanna of New Castle, Jerry (wife Tami) Reamer of Franklin, Larry (wife Angie) Reamer of Spiceland, Terrie (husband Richard) Craig of Lewisville and Sherry (husband Rick) Labishak of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Vela Thomas of New Castle; two nieces, Helen Hodson and Patty Harding, both of New Castle; a nephew, Gene Harding of Carmel; and special friend and caregiver, Ruth Ballenger of New Castle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Hanna Sr.; one brother, Arnold; two sisters, Ella Lacy and Eva Ward; and great-granddaughter, Laurel Marie Reamer.
Services were held Tuesday, February 22 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mark Martin officiating. Burial was in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday, February 21.

Dorothy Hardin Massey

Dorothy Hardin Massey, 85, of Ocean Pines, Maryland, died Wednesday, February 16 in Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md. She was born March 12, 1919, in Henry County as a birthright Quaker, the daughter of the late J. Alvin and Mabel (Macy) Hardin.
Mrs. Massey, a 1941 graduate of Purdue University, pursued a successful career as a landscape watercolor artist and studied with renowned New York artist, Edgar Whitney. She exhibited her art in many national shows including the Audubon and the Pennsylvania Academy where one of her paintings was included in a show with Andrew Wyeth as a fellow exhibitor. As a writer, she wrote extensively on the genealogy of her family.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National League of American Pen Women and the Mayflower Society.
Dorothy was known for her excellent cooking, fashion sense, acrostic-solving skills, sense of humor, gracious hospitality and the quality of her letters to her daughters when they were far from home.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Robert G. Massey of Ocean Pines; one son, R. Grant Massey Jr. of Roxana, Dela.; two daughters, Carol M. DeCesare of Marietta, Ga. and Barbara J. McGinity of Timonium, Md.; one brother, Clifford M. Hardin of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Phyllis H. Walls of Indianapolis and Eleanor H. Bye of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 22 at the Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, Del. with Rev. Kerry Shull officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, March 2.

Hildred Collins
July 21, 1915 - June 28, 2003
G. Hildred Collins, 87, a resident of Markleville, died Saturday, June 28 at Hancock Memorial Hospital. She was born July 21, 1915 in Hancock County, a daughter of the late Otto and Tresella (Lynam) Bridges.
Mrs. Collins had worked at Delco Remy in Anderson and was a housewife. She is a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aid and the Wilkinson Brotherhood and Sisterhood.
She was preceded in death by husband, Carl Collins in 1982; a brother, Avery Bridges in 1990; and a sister, Zelma Bridges.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-8 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 2). Memorial contributions may be made to the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
Lois Ann Coon
April 16, 1928 - June 26, 2003
Lois Ann Coon, 75, a resident of Shirley, died Thursday, June 26 in Henry County Memorial Hospital. She was born April 16, 1928 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Raleigh B. and Lola Marguerite (Walters) Myers.
Mrs. Coon retired from the Shirley Post Office as a postal clerk and postmaster.
She is survived by a son, Monte Howell of Oaklandon; step-daughter, Terry Vickery of Middletown; step-son, Larry Coon of Cadiz; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Rose Moore of Apple Valley, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Coon; and two brothers, William and Dale Myers. Private graveside services were held at McCray Cemetery.
Richard E. Vaughn
Mar. 27, 1929 - June 26, 2003
Richard E. Vaughn, 74, a resident of Shirley, died Thursday, June 26 in Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born March 27, 1929 in Henry County, a son of the late Eugene Wesley and Viola Alice (Ratliff) Vaughn.
Mr. Vaughn served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1949. He retired in 1981 from Delco Remy in Anderson after 30 years of service. He is a member of the U.A.W. Local 662 and the Grant City Wesleyan Church. He was an avid fisherman, mushroom hunter, NASCAR fan and deer watcher.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris M. Vaughn; two sons, Richard Edward (wife Ava) Vaughn of Bowling Green, Ky. and Gary (wife Sheryl) Vaughn of Shirley; one daughter, Stella (husband Jim) Anderson of Carthage; seven grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Gilbert, June Colson, Duey Vaughn, Robert D. Vaughn, Brian A. Vaughn, Michael Anderson and Angel M. Anderson; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles William Vaughn of Anderson, Morris Edward Vaughn of Arkansas, Herschel Vaughn of Rhode Island and Thomas Earl Vaughn of Dunreith; and one sister, Rowena Ritchie of Dunreith.
A sister, Rosella Davis, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 30 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Trent Riley and Larry Basey officiating. Burial was in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was held at the funeral home Sunday, June 29. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Laurel Marie Reamer

Laurel Marie Reamer, infant daughter of Larry C. and Angie C. Dishman Reamer was stillborn on Friday, June 27 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Survivors include her parents of rural Spiceland; two sisters, Danielle and Haley Reamer; maternal grandparents, Joe and Judy Dishman of Lewisville; maternal great-grandparents, Vade and Lillian Dishman of Lewisville; paternal grandparents, Ernie and Mildred Hanna; paternal great-grandparents, Pauline Hanna and Ethel Tungate, all of New Castle; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her paternal grandfather, Jerry Reamer and a cousin, Reilly Ingenito, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial at the Lewisville Cemetery. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home ~Lewisville Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
