Catherine Howard

Catherine Howard, 85, of Ogden, died Dec. 28 at Brandywine Manor in Greenfield.
She was born Feb. 6, 1924, a daughter of the late Alfred and Ruby (Reid) Longwell.
Mrs. Howard and her husband, Gib, owned and operated Ogden Market and Howard’s Garage for 40 years. She was a lifelong Ogden resident and a member of Ogden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. She also enjoyed gardening, oil painting and cooking.
Survivors include two daughter, Carolyn (husband, Glenn) Stoten of Ogden and Priscilla (husband, Dennis) Shumaker of Italy; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Goodlin of Ogden; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Paul Howard; a sister, Louise Dean; and three brothers, John, Oliver "Pete", and Charles Longwell.
Funeral services were Dec. 31 at Ogden United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Campbell officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Dec. 31 at the church.

Marie Fannin
October 26, 1921 - January 1, 2010
Marie Fannin, 88, of Morristown, died Jan. 1 at Morristown Manor.
She was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Rowan County, Ky., a daughter of the late Albert Allen Glover and Essie (Masters) Glover.
Mrs. Fannin was a homemaker who had worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a part-time clerk. She attended East Street Christian Church and was an avid Indiana University fan.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie (wife, Becky) Fannin of Pendleton and Richard (wife, Deb) Fannin of Arlington; a daughter, Bonnie (husband, Michael) Sisk of Greenfield; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judi Peacock; two brothers, John Stevens and Carl Steves; two sisters, Dessie Hamilton Parker and Carrie Jones; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home.
Mary Jane Campbell
May 30, 1955 - December 28, 2009
Mary Jane "Janie" Campbell, 54, of Knightstown, died Dec. 28 at her home.
She was born May 30, 1955, in Rushville, a daughter of the Harry David and Sherry Sue (Kinder) White.
Mrs. Campbell worked as a teacher’s aide at Carthage Elementary School since 2002. She was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage, where she played an active role in community service, missions, vacation Bible school and the food pantry.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Campbell of Knightstown; a daughter, Carrie Campbell of Knightstown; a son, Chris Campbell of Greenfield; her parents; a sister, Julie (husband, Greg) Bright of Indianapolis; a brother, Joe (wife, Marsha) White of Zionsville; a sister, Jana (husband, Scott) McClurg of Franklin; and several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were Jan. 1 at Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage with Rev. Mervin Kilmer officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Dec. 31 at the church.

June Belle Kucera
April 12, 1917 - December 25, 2009
June Belle Kucera, 92, of Greenfield, died Dec. 25 at Regency Place in Greenfield.
She was born April 12, 1917, in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of the late Almer and Alice (Clark) Wolfgram.
Mrs. Kucera worked as a licensed professional nurse at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (husband, Dick) Stanley of Greenfield and Coralie (husband, Larry) Myers of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Kucera, and a sister, Winnie Genengels.
Graveside funeral services were Dec. 29 at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson handled arrangements.
Norman Lord
October 6, 1919 - December 24, 2009
Norman "Kenny" Lord, 90, of Rush County, died Dec. 24 in Rushville.
He was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Rush County, a son of the late Charles and Jenny (Hamilton) Lord.
Mr. Lord retired in 1990 after working at Metzger’s Lumber in Mays and Rushville. He was a member of Center Christian Church, where he was a past deacon and a lifelong member. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 150. He was a 60-year member of the Rushville Elks Lodge and a member of the Rushville Rotary Club from 1949 1990. An avid Indy Car-racing fan, he attended 72 Indianapolis 500 races.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah Lord of Mays; a son, Jeffrey Lynn Lord of Mays; a daughter, Linda K. (husband, John) Hall of Mays; five grandchildren, Jessica (husband, Steve) Rodgers, Chris Lord, Nichole (husband, Stuart) Linville, Tierney (wife, Shelly) Hall and Shanneke (husband, John) Tague; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Justine Lord; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Noel Hall.
Funeral services were Dec. 28 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Bill Worrell officiating. Visitation was Dec. 28 at the funeral home. Burial took place at Arlington East Hill Cemetery.

Betty J. Jones
August 7, 1932 - December 23, 2009
Betty J. Jones, 77, of Greenfield, died Dec. 23 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Banton, a daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Hubert) Hagman.
Mrs. Jones retired from Farm Bureau Insurance in 1987 after 37 years of service. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the 8/40 Salon. She enjoyed shopping, music, reading, collecting Boyd’s Bears and especially spending time with her granddaughter. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Greenfield.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Jones of Greenfield; a daughter, Jill (husband, Lewis) Ebbert of Greenfield; a grand daughter, Amanda J. Ebbert of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Carole (husband, Paul) Maynard of Greenfield; a nephew, Brian (wife, Rhonda) Maynard of Greenfield; and a great-nephew, Matthew Maynard.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Hagman.
Funeral services were Dec. 31 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Greenfield with Father Severin Messick officiating. Visitation was Dec. 31 at the church.

Gary L. Plank
January 18, 1939 - December 22, 2009
Gary L. Plank, 70, of Knightstown, died Dec. 22 at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1939, in Sabetha, Kan., a son of the late Alvie Estel and Hallie Lenore (Spiker) Plank.
Mr. Plank was a 1957 Knightstown High School graduate who lived in the Knightstown area all his life. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964. He later worked for Sprint Telephone Co. in Knightstown for 42 years, retiring in 2000. Mr. Plank was a member of Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and the Eagles Lodge in New Castle. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, NASCAR racing and the Indianapolis 500. He hadn’t missed an Indy 500 race since 1952. Mr. Plank also enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Plank of Knightstown; a son, Ryan Plank of Knightstown; a daughter, Angie Plank; a sister, Hazel Posey; a granddaughter, Jordyn Plank; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Plank; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Stoots and Gene Posey.
Funeral services were Dec. 28 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Ken Wells officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post 152 Honor Guard. Visitation was Dec. 27 at the funeral home.
