Robert L. Wood

Robert L. Wood, 65, of Rushville, died Friday, September 13 at Millers Merry Manor in Rushville. He was born in New Castle on July 20, 1937, a son of the late James M. and Flossie McCoy Wood.
On July 18, 1962, he married Wilma Kendall and she preceded him in death May 9, 1997. Mr. Wood retired from Dana Corp. as plant controller for the Perfect Circle Division in Rushville and New Castle. He was a member of the Main Street Christian Church and a former member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include three sons, David Michael Wood of Greenwood, Marcus James Wood of Rushville and Mathew DeWayne Wood of Knightstown; three sisters, Joan Dishman of Centerville, Susan Rector of Hagerstown and Lois Lee of Norcross, Ga.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 17 at the Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Hank Anderson officiating. Burial was in East Hill Cemetery, Rushville. Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday, September 16.
Norene Wyatt
Sept. 24, 1937 - Sept. 19, 2002
Norene Wyatt, 64, of Knightstown, died Thursday, September 19, at her residence. She was born September 24, 1937 in Somerset Ky., a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Godsey) Rogers.
Norene was a homemaker and a member of the Knightstown Friends Church.
Survivors include her husband, Forrest Wyatt of Knightstown; one daughter, Leah (husband Jack) Kopp of Knightstown; one son, Gary (wife Rita) Wyatt of Knightstown; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Doug Rogers of Knightstown and Ed Rogers of Shirley; two sisters, Elizabeth Durham and Ella Riggs, both of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 24 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Rev. Brian Campbell officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation for family and friends was Monday, September 23 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit or WGNR Radio in Anderson.
Randy Zapf
Aug. 4, 1956 - Sept. 16, 2002
Randy (Snake) Zapf, 46, of Willow Branch, died unexpectedly Monday, September 16. He was born August 4, 1956 in Greenfield, a son of James L. and Donna M. (Sparks) Zapf.
Mr. Zapf was a field project manager for Herman & Kittle Properties of Indianapolis. He was past president of Charlottesville Lions Club, president of Jeremiah and Tabbatha Zapf scholarship fund and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Sue (Gray) Zapf of Willow Branch; one daughter, Michaelena Zapf of Wilkinson; a stepson, Eric England of Indianapolis; his mother, Donna M. Zapf of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Trinity and Jaxson England, both of Indianapolis; a godson, Jeremey Reeves of Warrington; two brothers, Monty Zapf of Greenfield and Danny Zapf of Fairmont; five nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeremiah Zapf and a daughter, Tabbatha Zapf, both in 1994; father, James Zapf in 1975; and a sister, Glenna Zapf in 1995.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 23 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Burial was in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation for family and friends was at the funeral home Sunday, September 22.

Ella Mae Perry

Ella Mae "Sallee" Perry, 100, a former Knightstown resident, died Tuesday, September 17 at Regency Place in Greenfield.
Ella May was born March 2, 1902 in Greensburg, the 10th child born of Andrew Jackson Sallee and Eliza Frances (Samonis) Sallee. Her ancestry has been traced to France where one of the original Sallee was a Duke of France and a Baron of the Holy Roman Empire and his Godfather was the King of France. She married Fred E. Perry of Shelbyville on October 11, 1919 and they were the parents of seven children. They lived in Shelbyville and Knightstown where she was active in church, social and service organizations. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Knightstown and Chapter # 492 Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include four sons, Arthur D. Perry of Greenfield, Glenn M. Perry of Shelbyville, Norman L. Perry of Carthage, and Kenneth W. Perry of Middletown; one daughter, Wanda (husband Richard) Rice of Indianapolis; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Perry on May 6, 1967; her two oldest sons, Fredrick who served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, making her a Gold Star Mother, and Ralph who was killed in an auto accident.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 21 at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown with Rev. Richard Thayer officiating. Burial was in Mount Pisgah Cemetery at Shelbyville. Visitation was held at the funeral home Friday, September 20 with a memorial service conducted by the Eastern Star at 7:30 p.m.
Richard V. Smith
Aug. 15, 1939 - Sept. 2, 2002
Richard V. Smith, 63, a resident of Willow Branch, died Friday, September 20 in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness.
Mr. Smith was born August 15, 1939 in Indianapolis, a son of the late George and Norah Helen (Weaver) Smith. He was an U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include one daughter, Kristine Smith of Greenfield; one son, Derrik Smith of Carmel; six grandchildren, Athena Smith, Veneta Smith, Coleman Smith, Sebastian Ruess, Roxanne Ruess and Devon Ruess, all of Willow Branch.
He was preceded in death by his father who died December 24, 1995 and his mother on November 24, 1997. Graveside services will be held today (Wednesday) in Simmons Cemetery near Wilkinson. Visitation was at the graveside from 2 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m.
The Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson handled arrangements.
H. Robert Morris
May 12, 1917 – Aug. 3, 2002
H. Robert “Bob” Morris, 85, of Greenfield, died Saturday, August 2 at Hancock Memorial Hospital. He was born May 12, 1917 in Hancock County to Harold C. and Ruby G. (Fields) Morris. Morris married Betty Ruth Haskett on October 27, 1939 and she survives.
Mr. Morris was a lifelong farmer in Hancock County and also worked for Delco-Remy in Anderson and Morris, Inc. in Greenfield. He graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1937. He was a member of Nameless Creek Christian Church and the Brotherhood and Sisterhood.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Phil H. Morris of New Palestine; a daughter, Judy Ann Biberstine of Bluffton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Evelyn Foreman and a brother, Charles L. Morris. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with Dr. James Carcia officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, August 6 and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Paula Jane Shepherd
May 31, 1973 – July 28, 2002
Paula Jane Shepherd, 29, of St. Cloud, FL., and the daughter of local residents, died Sunday, July 28 after an extended illness.
A homemaker, she was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church of St. Cloud, FL. She was born May 31, 1973 to Jerry and Patricia Belcher of Knightstown, who survive.
Other survivors include her husband, Douglas Shepherd; two daughters, Ciera and Erica; two sons, Douglas and Joshua, all of St. Cloud, FL. A sister Karen (husband Daniel) Shepherd of St. Cloud, FL.; a brother, Brian (wife Karen) Shepherd of Deltona, FL.; father-in-law, Daniel Shepherd; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, all of St. Cloud; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held July 31 at Collison-Carey-Hand Funeral Home in Winter Garden, FL. Burial was in Clermont Cemetery.
