Ruth Marie Stevens

Ruth Marie Stevens, 91, of Pendleton, died Saturday, October 19 at the Rawlins House Nursing Home in Pendleton.
She was born July 28, 1911 in Rush County, a daughter of Floyd and Bessie (Dalrymple) Reddick. She married Ralph W. Stevens on March 23, 1935 and he survives.
Mrs. Stevens was a 1928 graduate of Carthage High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Charlottesville Methodist Church.
Other survivors besides her husband are one daughter, Wanda Sue (Clinton) Campbell of Lindenhurst, Ill.; one brother, Roy Reddick of Carthage; one sister, Gladys Geise of Rushville; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son and one sister.
Services for Mrs. Stevens will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, October 23) at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel, Knightstown with burial in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12 noon prior to the services.
Rexanna Hamm
July 8, 1951 - Oct. 29, 2002
Arrangements are pending for Rexanna Hamm, 51, of Knightstown at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Rexanna died Tuesday, October 29 in Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield following a lengthy illness.
Tentatively, visitation will be on Friday evening at the funeral home with funeral services set for Saturday morning at the Knightstown United Methodist Church.

Jonathon Andrew Knapp

Jonathan Andrew Knapp, infant son of Earl John "E.J." and Judith Renee Schuyler Knapp of Shirley, was stillborn on Monday, October 28 at the Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mahala and Olivia Knapp at home; paternal grandparents, Kenneth Knapp of Knightstown and Priscilla Knapp, also of Knightstown; maternal grandparents, Dwight and LaVonne Schuyler of Shirley; and maternal great-grandparents, Berlin and Darlene Gross of Shirley. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, October 30) at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with Rev. Larry Basey officiating.

Pauline V. Dreher
Oct. 25, 1914 - Oct. 23, 2002
Pauline V. (Scott) Dreher, 87, formerly of rural Carthage, died Wednesday, October 23 at Brandywine Manor in Greenfield.
She was born October 25, 1914 in Merom, a daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn (Smallwood) Scott. Mrs. Dreher was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Dreher in 1983, as well as three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Patty Lee and Shirley Lee of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service was held Monday, October 28 at Arlington East Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Bonne officiating.
Todd Funeral Home Butcher Chapel in Knightstown was in charge of arrangements.
Jason R. Bates
March 19, 1974 - Oct. 19, 2002
Jason R. Bates of Tucson Ariz. died unexpectedly Saturday, October 19 in Tucson. He was born March 19, 1974 in Tipton.
Mr. Bates had lived in Tipton until moving to Anderson in 1985. He moved to Tucson three years ago where he was an engineer at Raytheon in Tucson. Bates was a graduate of Madison Heights High School and Purdue University.
Survivors include his mother, Judi Gaddis of Knightstown; father and stepmother, Ron and Jeanie Bates of Galveston; three sisters, Christina Deanne Bates of Greensburg, Alyssa Brooke Gaddis and Lindsey Danielle Gaddis of Knightstown; two brothers, Nathan Isaac Gaddis and Jonathan Kyler Gaddis, both of Knightstown.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 28 with visitation prior to the services at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, South Chapel in Anderson. The body was cremated.
Charles R. Glisson
Oct. 13, 1930 - Oct. 27, 2002
Charles R. Glisson, 82, a resident of Shirley, died Sunday, October 27. He was born October 13, 1920 in Greenfield, a son of the late Edward and Bertha (Swartz) Glisson.
Mr. Glisson was co-owner of White Flash Services in Shirley and was a service manager for Gas America in Shirley for 45 years. He was a member of the Shirley Volunteer Fire Dept., Shirley Christian Church, Knightstown American Legion #152, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Shirley Masonic Lodge #582 and the Shirley Order of Eastern Star #491. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Verah (Kyser) Glisson of Shirley; two daughters, Karen (husband Gordon) Thomas of Shirley, Melinda (husband Danny) Tompkins of Anderson; one son, Jerry W. (wife Marilyn) Glisson of Shirley; five grandchildren, Janette Cullison, Brian Tompkins, Kerry Glisson, Michelle Tompkins and Chip Glisson; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Sanford of Cleveland; one sister, Frankie Johnston of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two great-grandsons and a sister, Myrtle DeGranut.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 30) in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor James Jackson officiating. Burial will be in McCray Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home Tuesday, October 29 with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gas America Scholarship Fund.
J. "Roddy" Miller
May 30, 1933 - Oct. 26, 2002
J. "Roddy" Miller, 69, a New Castle resident died unexpectedly Saturday, October 26 at Methodist Hospital. He was born May 30, 1933 in New Castle, a son of the late Thurman and Emmalyne (Wright) Miller.
Mr. Miller was a 1951 graduate of New Castle High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was station in Germany. He retired from Chrysler Corp. in New Castle in 1998 after 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 371.
Miller was very active in the Industrial and Church Basketball leagues, was manager for the Olympians for many years and AAU basketball. Also, he was statistician for WMDH and WCTW Trojan basketball for many years. He was research historian at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, logging over 10,000 volunteer hours at the Hall of Fame. He also volunteered for New Castle-Henry County Visitors Bureau, the Pan American games and was media guide at the World Basketball Games in Indianapolis this year. Roddy spent many years working in the family owned campground, Lakewood. He was a member of South Memorial Drive Church of God for many years where he served as head usher.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, M. Lee Miller of New Castle; one son, Craig (wife Laura) Miller of New Castle; a son-in-law, Joe Williams of Indianapolis; one uncle, Herman (wife Madeline) Wright of New Castle; several cousins; mother-in-law, Dorothy Massengale of New Castle; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Hayworth of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Miller Williams in 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 30) at South Memorial Drive Church of God with Rev. Mark Martin officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will provide military graveside rites. Visitation was Tuesday, October 29 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.
