William R. Cox, Jr.
April 11, 1961 – Oct. 5, 2002
William R. Cox, Jr., 41, of Knightstown, died Saturday, Oct. 5 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Winchester. He was born April 11, 1961 in Bloomington, a son of William R. and Rose E. (Frye) Cox.
Mr. Cox was a 16-year employee at Smurfitt-Stone Container in Carthage. He was a 1979 graduate of Knightstown High School. He married Lisa Butler on Aug. 16, 1980. Mr. Cox was active in late model stock car racing for many years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose E. (Frye) Cox on January 5, 2002.
Mr. Cox is survived by his father, William R. Cox, Sr. (wife Linda); his wife, Lisa Cox; a son, Taylor Cox; a daughter, Trista Cox, all of Knightstown; a sister, Debbie L. (husband Jeff) Wilkerson of Knightstown; nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Cox were Wednesday, October 9 at 10 a.m. at Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown. Burial took place at Glen Cove Cemetery.
Russell J. Wilson
Nov. 25, 1917 – Oct. 4, 2002
Russell J. Wilson, 84, a Greenfield resident, died Friday, Oct. 4 in Brandywine Manor Nursing Home in Greenfield. He was born Nov. 25, 1917 in Nobel, IL, a son of the late Russell and Myrtel (Collins) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a retired manager for Amoco Fertilizer Plant in Charlottesville and a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War 2 serving as a Quarter Master in India. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Wilkinson Church of Christ and a 50-year member of the late Knightstown Masonic Lodge Golden Rule #16. He was a volunteer for the Charlottesville Fire Department. He also served as a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club of Greenfield and delivered Meals on Wheels for Greenfield senior citizens. Mr. Wilson was an avid fisherman who loved sports.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Harriet (Pierce) Wilson of Greenfield; a son, Wesley R. Wilson of St. Petersburg, Fl; two daughters, Jeanette (husband Dennis) York of Greenfield, Julie (husband Chuck) Butler of Knightstown; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Fault of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside military services were held at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. with David Woods officiating. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson.

Jerry D. Reed
March 30, 1950 – Oct. 4, 2002
Jerry D. Reed, 52, of Anderson, a former Knightstown resident, died at Community Hospital in Anderson on Oct. 4 after an extended illness. He was born March 30, 1950 in Rushville, a son of late John and Cora Reed.
Mr. Reed retired from Jefferson-Smurfitt Container Corp. in 1999. He moved from Knightstown to Anderson in 1992.
Mr. Pitts is survived by four daughters, Angela (husband Mark) Moss of Knightstown, Shannon Reed (fiancé Jeremy Johnson) of New Palestine, Kimberly Reed of Greenfield and Marissa Janes of Anderson; a son, Shane Reed of Greenfield; three step-sons, Michael, Daniel and Jared. Woolard, all of Anderson; a step-daughter, Heather Janes of Anderson; three grandchildren, Jordan Moss, Dalton Moss and Blake Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 7 from 4-8 p.m. at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home in Anderson with James Harrison officiating. Burial took place in East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m.

Nancy Lee Reedy Borg

Nancy Lee Reedy Borg, 57, of Hartford City, a former Knightstown resident, died Tuesday, Oct 1 at Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 11, 1944 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, a daughter of the late Howard Ira and Virginia Mae (Thompson) Reedy.
Mr. Borg had been a telephone operated for 10 years at the Sands Hotel in Rena, NV. She also worked as a waitress for several years in New Castle area restaurant. Mrs. Borg attended Spiceland schools and Ball State University.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Borg of Hartford City; her mother, Virginia (Thompson) Reedy of Knightstown; an uncle, William S. (wife Betty) Thompson of Hunker, PA; and several cousins. Mrs. Borg was preceded in death by her father, Howard Ira Reedy in 1991; an aunt, Margaret June Estelle; and an uncle, James Thompson.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 5 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral service with Rev. Eric Haler officiating. Visitation took place on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 1-4 p.m. Burial took place in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
Karla Michelle Lane
July 11, 1975 – Sept. 27, 2002
Karla Michelle (Miller) Lane, 27, of McCordsville, died Friday, Sept. 27 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. She was born July 11, 1975, the daughter of Greg and Diana (Applegate) Miller of Warsaw.
Mrs. Lane was a homemaker and a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a 1993 graduate of Eastern Hancock High School and attended IUPUI. She attended Mohawk United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jeremy D. Lane; a daughter, Brooke R. Lane; a son, Mason P. Lane, all of McCordsville; her parents, Greg and Diana (Applegate) Miller of Warsaw; a brother, Evan P. Miller of Vincennes; paternal grandmother, Jeanette R. Helden of Anderson; maternal grandparents, Bob and Carol Applegate of Wilkinson; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Debi (Saxon) Lane of McCordsville; a sister-in-law, Carey L. (husband Brian) Swisher of Whiteland; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were Monday, Sept. 30 at Mohawk United Methodist Church with Rev. Russ Abel officiating. Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 29from 2-8 p.m. at Ronald L. Seals Funeral Home in Fortville and Monday, Sept. 30 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Mohawk United Methodist Church. Burial took place in Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.

Lucille Brosius
Oct. 11, 1910 – Oct. 10, 2002
Lucille Brosius, 91, a former Knightstown resident, passed away Thursday, October 10 at the Brandywine Manor in Greenfield. Born in Carthage on October 11, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Jasper and Pearl (Conaway) Kennedy.
Mrs. Brosius, a graduate of Carthage High School, was a homemaker United Methodist Church. She was married on April 23, 1940 to Hubert “Dutch” Brosius who preceded her in death on June 22, 1988. A brother and a sister also preceded her in death. Surviving her are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 13 at Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown with Rev. Steve Brackney officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, October 12 from 9 – 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Foster B. Wilson
June 27, 1915 – Oct 12, 2002
Foster B. Wilson, 87, of rural Arlington, passed away Saturday, October 12 at the Hillside Haven Nursing Home in Rushville. Born in Jefferson County, Indiana on June 27, 1915, he was a son of the late Rosco Foster Wilson and Rose (Bentley) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a 1934 graduate of North Madison High School. On March 6, 1935, he married Florence Vivian Barber. Mr. Wilson came from Madison to the Arlington area in 1941 and, after retiring from farming, had been a school bus driver in the Carthage area for the Charles A. Beard School Corporation from 1955 – 1983. He was a charter member of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department and had been a 50-year member of the Rush Lodge #580 F&AM. Wilson was also a long time supporter of the Rush County F.O.P.
He was preceded in death by his wife on September 23, 1990, a daughter, Janice (husband Tives) Finch, and one grandchild. Surviving include two sons, Marlin K. Wilson of Marion, and Foster W. Wilson of Arlington; one daughter, Barbara (husband Robert) Proctor of Arlington; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 15 at 10 a.m. at Todd Funeral Home, Carthage Chapel, in Carthage with Rev. Gene Lewis officiating. Burial followed in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, October 14 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department with envelopes available at the funeral home.
