Ronald B. Veach

Ronald B. Veach, 90, of Knightstown, died Sept. 3 at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisc.
He was born Feb. 10, 1919, in Thornville, Ohio, a son of the late Alva and Mary (Carroll) Veach.
Mr. Veach was a Knightstown High School graduate who served as an Army Air Force flight engineer during World War II. He retired from Ford Motor Company and was a former commander of Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Mr. Veach was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Club, the Glen Cove Cemetery Board and Center Christian Church. He enjoyed aviation and golf.
Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Clarke of Whitefish Bay, Wisc.; a grandson, Rob (wife, Emily) Clarke; a great-grandson, Samuel of Evanston, Ill.; a brother, Carroll (wife, Mildred) Veach of Sandy Hook, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; and three brothers, Ralph, Lewis and Alva Veach, Jr.
Funeral services were September 8 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Bill Worrell officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with full military graveside rites conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was Sept. 8 at the funeral home.
Karen L. Johnson
September 3, 1942 - September 4, 2009
Karen L. (Baker) Johnson, 67, of Kennard, died September 4 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born Sept. 3, 1942, in Hancock County, a daughter of the late Loring and Mary (Jarvis) Baker.
Mrs. Johnson worked at Naval Avionics in Indianapolis for several years. She was a member of the Cornfield Cloggers Club and she enjoyed sewing and crafts.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Johnson of Kennard; a daughter, Lisa (husband, Jeff) White of Kennard; two granddaughters, Courtney White and Miranda Johnson; a grandson, Jacob Johnson; and a sister, Janet Robling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony Johnson.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Danny Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the funeral home.
Sarah E. Lloyd
August 5, 1926 - September 6, 2009
Sarah E. Lloyd, 83, of Connersville, formerly of New Castle, died September 6 at Lincoln Centers of Connersville.
She was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Yadkinville, N.C., a daughter of the late Henry and Hattie Messick.
Mrs. Lloyd was a member of Bethel Holiness Church and she devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends at the nursing home.
Survivors include four children, Nancy Hancock of Connersville, Johnny (wife, Frieda) Lloyd of Spiceland, Sally (husband, James) Dubois of Connersville and Robert (wife, Pam) Lloyd of Pendleton; two sisters, Myrtle (husband, Bill) Sims of Muncie and Sallie Wadman of Muncie; a brother, Robert (wife, Juanita) Messick of Knightstown; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Lloyd; a brother, Charles Messick; two half sisters, Gladys Flynn and Margaret Messick; an infant sister, Emma Jean Messick; and two brothers-in-law, Steve Sims and Wayne Wadman.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Rev. George Maloyed, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation is Sept. 10 from noon until time of services at the funeral home.

Sylvia Ann Sammons
November 16, 1954 - September 8, 2009
Sylvia Ann Sammons, 54, of Carthage, died September 8 at her home.
She was born Nov. 16, 1954, in Rushville, a daughter of the late Harrold and Orpha (Sanders) Sammons.
Ms. Sammons was a 1973 Knightstown High School graduate, who was active in Relay for Life.
Survivors include three sisters, Carolyn (husband, Larry) Scroggin of Commiskey, Sharon Hamilton of Knightstown and Mary (husband, Phillip) Geise of Arlington; a brother, Wayne (wife, Evelyn) Sammons of Rushville; several nieces and nephews; several great-niece and great-nephews; two great-great nephews; and her companion, Sue Trumbo.
Funeral services were Sept. 14 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Warren Engel officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Sept. 13 at the funeral home.

Willie Jiles Riley
July 5, 1940 - September 10, 2009
Willie Jiles Riley, 69, of Greenfield, died Sept. 10 at his home.
He was born July 5, 1940, in Morehead, Ky., a son of the late Grant and Angie Line (Ross) Riley.
Mr. Riley worked at Indiana Rayon/Knitwear for 42 years, retiring in 2007. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Mr. Riley enjoyed hunting, raising big gardens and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include a brother, Norman (wife, Shirley) Riley of Morehead, Ky.; three sisters, Freda Russell of Madison, Ala., Naomi Joan Riley of Marion and Betty Lou Politt of Madison, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Homer, Ora, Donald and Arnold Riley; and four sisters, Bea Clark, Elsie Miller, Darlene Logan and Eloise Riley.
Funeral services were September 14 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Rev. William Beauchat officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was Sept. 13 at the funeral home.

Edwin Orville Pasko
July 1, 1913 - September 11, 2009
Edwin Orville Pasko, 96, of Shirley, died September 11 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born July 1, 1913, in Huntington, a son of the late George and Laura (Glick) Pasko.
Mr. Pasko and his brother, Elmer, operated Emporia Grain Elevator from 1948 until their retirement in 1981. He was a member of Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church, where he served as organist for over 40 years. He also taught Sunday school and held various leadership positions.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel, of Shirley; a daughter, Ruth (husband, Frank) Almeida of Pendleton; a son, Rex (wife, Cathy) Pasko of Pendleton; a daughter-in-law, Annabelle Pasko Wilson of Greenfield; seven granddaughters, Debbie (husband, Brian) Froman, Amy (husband, Brandon) Blackwell, Pam (husband, Todd) Carlton of Wilkinson, Elaine (husband, Matt) Landis of Greenfield, Anissa (husband, Chris) Conley of Muncie, Laura Almeida of Danville and Jennifer Pasko of Indianapolis; a grandson, Ed Almeida of Clarksville; a sister, Wilma Largent of Angola; 15 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Scott) Pasko; his second wife, Barbara (White) Pasko; two children, Raymond Pasko and Barbara (Pasko) Willis; three granddaughters, Jill and Julie Pasko and Denise Willis; three sisters; a brother; and a stepson.
Funeral services were Sept. 16 at Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church in Shirley with Rev. Jennifer Charles officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was Sept. 15 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson.

Linda K. Cook
September 20, 1946 - September 16, 2009
Linda K. Cook, 62, of Wilkinson, died Sept. 16 at her home.
She was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Hancock County, a daughter of the late Albert and Verna (Gulley) Coomer.
Mrs. Cook and her mother owned and operated Coomer’s Cut and Sew Upholstery for 30 years. She also worked at Western Electric in Indianapolis and served as the ticket clerk at Anderson Speedway. Mrs. Cook was a member of Anderson Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Gene; two daughters, Rhonda Cook and Regenea Johnson, both of Wilkinson; a son, Chuck Cook of Wilkinson; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Bever, Gail Kiser and Debbie Kissick; and two brothers, Allen Coomer and David Coomer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Coomer; and a son-in-law, Anthony Johnson.
Funeral services are at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Gary Meeker officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation is 5 p.m. until time of services on Sept. 24.
