James F. Jones, 87, of Lewisville, died April 12 in New Castle.
He was born June 29, 1922, in Henry County, a son of the late John K. and Hattie (Wittington) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a Lewisville High School graduate who served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A retired farmer, he lived in the Lewisville area all his life.
Survivors include his wife, Rubye (Todd) Jones of Lewisville; a son, Rex (wife, Brenda) Jones of Lewisville; a daughter, Joyce (husband, Ronald) Cruse of Glenwood; six grandchildren, Jim (wife, Holly) Jones, Shawn (wife, Jane) Jones, Melissa (husband, Mike) Griffin, Bill Rauthe, Dawn Rauthe and Justin (wife, Brittney) Rauthe; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah Jones of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Buck; and a sister, Loretta Byrd.
Graveside funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Rev. Jim Nipp officiating.

Justine Moore

Justine "Judy" Moore, 61, of Straughn, died April 9 at her home.
She was born May 20, 1948, in Knightstown, a daughter of the late Lee and Mary Evelyn (Russell) Large.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Milton Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star #13 in Vine Grove, Ky., since 1973. She moved to the Straughn area from Radcliff, Ky., in 1989. She worked as a home healthcare provider for 20 years, retiring from Advantage Home Care in 2005. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Moore of Straughn; nine children, Rhonda (husband, Stephen) Griffith of Cambridge City, John (wife, Charlotte) Dutkiewicz of Dublin, Richard (wife, Brandy) Dutkiewicz of Dublin, Tracy Tipton, Teresa (husband, Jim) Fry, Jeff and Jerry Moore, Cindy Gerrian and Rhonda Homan; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Jean Perry and Almyra Manlove; two brothers, William and Ralph Large; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Greg Fosnight; and a brother, Larry Large.
Following cremation, funeral services were April 17 at Milton Christian Church with Rev. Tom CiCi officiating. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin handled arrangements.

James C. Jones

James C. "Shank" Jones, 73, of New Castle, died April 7 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Aug. 6, 1936, in Morgan County, Tenn., a son of the late Mintford and Elsie (Dixon) Jones.
A 1954 Mays High School graduate, Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman. He retired from General Motors after 31 years of service. He was an avid sports enthusiast, who was known as an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Indianapolis Colts and the Purdue Boilermakers. Mr. Jones enjoyed attending sporting events, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Todd (wife, Lisa) Jones of Knightstown; a daughter, Stephanie Jones of New Castle; two brothers, Roy Jones of Shelbyville and Roland (wife, Mary) Jones of Douglasville, Ga.; a sister, Linda Sullivan of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Trey and Christopher Clayborn of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers; four sisters; and a son, Marty Jones.
Funeral services were April 12 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial followed at Center Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation was April 11 at the funeral home.

James C. Boyle
September 24, 1915 - April 17, 2010
James C. Boyle, 94, of Middletown, died April 17 at The Waters in New Castle.
He was born Sept. 24, 1915, in Middletown, a son of the late Charles and Pearl (Anderson) Boyle.
Mr. Boyle was a lifelong farmer in the Middletown and Greensboro areas. He was a member of Greensboro Masonic Lodge #175 and the Indianapolis Shriners.
Survivors include a grandson, Charles D. Boyle of Indianapolis; two great-grandsons, Brent Sexton of Greenwood and Chad Sexton of Shelbyville; three great-great-grandchildren, Chad A. Sexton, Jr., Joshua Sexton and April Sexton, all of Shelbyville; a daughter-in-law, Norma (Portwood) Boyle of Cicero; two nephews, Doug Wheeler of Florida and David Wheeler of California; and a niece, Wendy Thurston of California.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joy L. Boyle; a son, Charles P. Boyle; a daughter, Gloria Boyle; a sister, Rosanna Wheeler; and a granddaughter, Rhonda Sexton.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Middletown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 23, at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7 p.m.

Alfred C. Foley

Alfred C. Foley, 61, of Richmond, died April 19 at Veteran's Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
He was born June 29, 1948, in Rushville, a son of the late Alfred E. and Mary Jane (Wolfhorst) Foley.
Mr. Foley lived in Richmond most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. A computer programmer for Kemper and Masterbrand, he was a member of Centerville First Baptist Church and American Legion Post 65. He enjoyed playing cards and golf.
Survivors include a son, Wayne A. (wife, Melissa) Foley of Richmond; a daughter, Kimberly R. (husband, Clark) Reeves of Richmond; four grandchildren, Hannah Leeann Foley, Amanda Chae Reeves, Dion Ross Reeves and Chase Lee Reeves; two sisters, Toni Ann (husband, Mike) Campbell of Winchester and Beverly (husband, Harold) Brumfield of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. Foley.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Richmond. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wayne County Veterans Council. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at the funeral home.
Adam Carter
August 25, 1982 - April 25, 2010
Adam "Uncle Dum" Carter, 27, of Knightstown, died April 25 at Methodist Hospital.
He was born Aug. 25, 1982, the son of Harlon and Melinda (Crawford) Carter of Knightstown.
Mr. Carter was a 2001 Knightstown High School graduate who was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and competing in fishing tournaments. He raced at Mt. Lawn Speedway, enjoyed NASCAR and riding four-wheelers. Mr. Carter also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his three dogs. He was known as someone who made people smile. Aside from helping local elderly folks, he was also known as a dedicated worker who was employed by Pool Cover Specialists in Knightstown.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Addrea (Carter) Brown of Knightstown; a nephew, Jacob Carter; a niece, Jessica Brown of Knightstown; his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Betty Crawford of Greenfield; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Hattie Carter; an uncle, Dennis Carter; an aunt, Marcia Ballard; and another uncle, Robert Frost.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. George Maloyed, Jr., officiating. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the funeral home.

Karen S. Ferrell

Karen S. Ferrell, 52, of New Castle, died April 22 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born July 11, 1957, in Fort Gordon, Ga., a daughter of Jerry E. and Janice (Trueblood) Trietsch.
Mrs. Ferrell was employed at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in New Castle, where she served as the license branch manager. She attended Greensboro United Methodist Church and enjoyed woodworking, camping, photography, boating, waterskiing, riding motorcycles and flying. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her schnauzer, Gunner.
Survivors include her hus band, James "Mike" Ferrell of New Castle; a daughter, Jami Ferrell of Lewisville; a son, Christopher Ferrell of Pacific Palisades, Cal.; a grandson, Oliver Patterson; her parents, Jerry and Janice Trietsch of Anderson; three sisters, Penny Jackson of Cadiz, Sandy Trietsch and Carrie Bradley, both of Anderson; her mother-in-law, Melba Riddle of Greensboro; three aunts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Benjamin and Lestie Trueblood, Howard and Naomi Trietsch and Evelyn Brideson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were April 26 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Mark Powell and Ruth Waite officiating. Burial followed at Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro. Visitation was April 25 at the funeral home.
