Ralph D. Henderson

Ralph D. Henderson, 82, of Carthage, died November 20 at Richard L. Roudebush V.A. Medical Center in Indianapolis.
He was born April 27, 1926, in Olive Hill, Ky., a son of the late Louis and Grace (Howard) Henderson.
Mr. Henderson was a lifelong Carthage resident and a founding member of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department where he served several terms as fire chief. A member of First Southern Baptist Church of Rushville, he enjoyed coin collecting and fishing. He was known as a loving husband and a great father.
Survivors include his wife, Rose (Brown) Henderson of Carthage; two daughters, Wanda Henderson and Joyce Henderson, both of Carthage; three sons, Ralph (wife, Anita) Henderson of Morristown, Warren (wife, Julie) Henderson of Fishers and John Henderson of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Mandy (husband, Rusty) Locker of Kennard, Phillip, Peter and Patrick Henderson of Fishers and Jesse Henderson of Greenfield; four great-grandchildren, Russell, Andy, Justin and Shelby Locker; five brothers; and two sisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Henderson; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Henderson; and four sisters.
Funeral services were November 22 at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Arrangements were handled by Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Senior Center or the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department.
Sarah Darling

Sarah Darling, 85, died December 3 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
She was born Oct. 9, 1923, a daughter of the late Jesse and Ethel (Whetsell) Estelle.
Mrs. Darling worked at Indiana Knitware in Greenfield. She also worked as a cashier for several years at Lockridge Market in Kennard. She was a member of Kennard Friends Church and was an avid bowler at Rose Bowl in New Castle.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Labrecque of Knightstown; a son, Terry (wife, Donita) Darling of Parker City; a sister, Doris (husband, Percy) Reynolds of Wilkinson; six grandchildren, Josh Perry, Katie (husband, Brent) Gray, Jay (wife, Shilo) Darling, Eric (wife, Sheri) Darling, Michelle McCallister and Allan Harding; four great-grandchildren, Danielle, Brandy, Nicholas and Clay; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll L. Darling; and a sister, Berniece Trent.
Funeral services were December 6 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Jacob Brown officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was December 5 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Clark Leon Wells
May 25, 1961 – Dec. 8, 2008
Clark Leon Wells, 47, of New Castle, died December 8 at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home in Middletown.
He was born May 25, 1961, in Washington, a son of the late Clark A. Wells and Jewel R. (Hellard) Atkins.
Mr. Wells was a former employee of Neal’s Scrap Metals for 15 years and also of Deed’s Contracting in Indianapolis. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church in New Castle. He enjoyed reading, fishing and being with his children. Mr. Wells was known as a generous man with both his time and his money, and he enjoyed helping people in need.
Survivors include two sons, C.J. Wells and Timothy Wells, both of New Castle; a daughter, Melissa Hobbs of New Castle; his stepfather, Sherman Atkins of Maxwell; six sisters, Betty (husband, Roger) Prince of New Castle, Tammy Wells of Scotland, Margie (husband, Brett) Gregoreo of Greensboro, Treva (husband, Hershal) Savagel of Indianapolis, Gloria Guffey of New Castle and Brenda (husband, Tommy) Hammel of Naples, Fla.; eight brothers, Dale (wife, Mariah) Wells and Martin Wells all of Austinville, Va., Hank Butch (wife, Misty) Cecil of New Castle, David (wife, Carol) Cecil of Lake Placid, Fla., Rick (wife, Wendy) Cecil of Fort Myers, Fla., Rodger (wife, Linda) Cecil of New Castle, Larry (wife, Diane) Wells of Ohio and Billy Wells of Gallipolis, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Wells; and a nephew, DeWayne Cecil.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, at Main & Davis Funeral Home in New Castle with Pastor Larrel Boling officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, at the funeral home.
Rev. Paul E. Miller
Sept. 19, 1918 – Dec. 7, 2008
Rev. Paul E. Miller, 90, of New Castle, died December 7 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
He was born Sept. 19, 1918, in Cicero, a son of the late Albert and Cora Alice (Wiles) Miller.
Rev. Miller served in the U.S. Army for two years during World War II. He was a Frankfort (Ind.) Pilgrim College graduate and was ordained into the ministry in 1949. Rev. Miller served as dean of men at Frankfort Pilgrim College in 1950. He pastored several holiness churches in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan for 32 years. He served an additional 12 years as an interim pastor and evangelist. Rev. Miller also had a jail ministry and a nursing home ministry for several years. He lived in New Castle for the past 12 years.
Survivors include his 11 children, Robert (wife, Barbara) Miller of New Castle, Larry (wife, Beverly) Miller of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Rebekah (husband, Dave) Bellis of Copley, Ohio, Joanna (husband, Nehiel) Rojas of Pasadena, Tex., Jonathan (wife, Debbie) Miller of Bon Aqua, Tenn., Mark (wife, Vicky) Miller of Hagerstown, Priscilla (husband, David) Thurston of Spiceland, Paul (wife, Teresa) Miller II of Cicero, Miriam (husband, Ken) Fry of Troy, Ohio, Mary Beth Whisman of Richmond and Esther (husband, Jeff) Madison of Indianapolis; a brother, Joseph (wife, Vernetta) Miller of Corydon; 31 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Ammerman) Miller; two granddaughters, Beverly McKay and Anita Miller; a grandson, Luke Miller; a sister, Waunetta Hill; and a brother, Kenneth Miller.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, December 12, at Spiceland Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Buddy Perry officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Imogene Pfaff

Imogene Pfaff, 81, of Greenfield, died December 9 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Savannah, Tenn., a daughter of the late James A. and Dona (Dildine) Godwin.
Mrs. Pfaff was a Keiser (Ark.) High School graduate and a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Greenfield. She was known as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing and baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Don Pfaff of Greenfield; three sons, David (wife, Jane) Pfaff of Willow Branch, Douglas (wife, George) Pfaff of Fredericksburg, Va., and Paul (wife, Judy) Pfaff of Greenfield; a sister, Kathryn Jordan of Martinsville; a brother, Larry (wife, Joyce) Godwin of Fairland; eight grandchildren, Aaron (wife, Cara) Pfaff, Amanda Pfaff, Doug Pfaff, Caitlin Pfaff, Andrew Pfaff, Kyle Pfaff, Lauren Pfaff and Samuel Pfaff; a great-grandchild, Ava Pfaff; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Barger; and five brothers, Harbert, Lester, Arch, Murray and Ben Godwin.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, December 12, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, in Greenfield. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Ella O. Nale

Ella O. Nale, 72, of Raleigh, died November 30 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Hazard, Ky. She was the adopted daughter of the late Tom and Susan (Begley) Rice.
Mrs. Nale was a homemaker. She and her husband, Charles, lived in Knightstown before moving to Raleigh. She was known as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Nale was a member of Centerville Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Nale; two daughters, Patty (husband, John) Jones of Anderson and Rachel (husband, Rick) Charles of Anderson; a son, Charles David (wife, Kelly) Nale of Muncie; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Begley of Knightstown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Nathan Nale.
Funeral services were December 3 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville. Burial with graveside services followed Blue River Baptist Church Cemetery near Salem with Bro. Morris Scales officiating. Visitation was December 2 at the funeral home.
Larry E. McCord
Sept. 11, 1943 – Dec. 1, 2008
Larry E. McCord, 65, of rural Cadiz, died December 1 at his home.
He was born Sept. 11, 1943, in Hancock County, a son of the late Delbert and Hazel (Brizendine) McCord.
Mr. McCord retired from Delco-Remy in Anderson 1992. He was a co-owner of L-P Greenhouse near Kennard for the past 30 years. Mr. McCord coached youth baseball and enjoyed pacer and trotter horse racing, Indiana University basketball and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Polly (Riggs) McCord of rural Cadiz; three sons, David (wife, Kathy) McCord of Middletown, Tom (wife, Andrea) McCord of Mitchell and Rusty (wife, Gayla) McCord of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Kelli, Charli, Lexi, Jordyn, Sean, Ariel and Denton McCord; two step-grandchildren, Trey and Coty
Baer; one great-grandson, Hunter McCord; a sister, Beverly Pope of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother, Philip McCord of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, December 5, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Ryan Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 4, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Community Foundation’s local food pantries fund.
