Indiana Marriages, 1780-1992

Arnold E. Cross

Oct. 3, 1937 – Nov. 3, 2008

Arnold E. Cross, 71, of Markleville, died November 3 at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson.

He was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Greensburg, a son of the late Barnell and Annabell (Campbell) Cross.

Mr. Cross was a lifetime member and past commander of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion of Florida. He was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Cross of Markleville; four sons, William, Christopher and Jeffery Cross, all of Crystal Springs, Miss., and Frank (wife, Karen) Cross of Plant City, Fla.; two daughters, Carolle Cross of Crystal Springs, Miss., and Sherrie Cross of Fairfield, Cal.; three stepsons, Larry (wife, Shirley) Webb of Fort Gibson, Okla., Barry (wife, Patricia) Webb of Tampa, Fla., and Kerry Webb of Riverview, Fla.; a brother, Glen Edward (wife, Sandy) Cross of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Terry Webb.

Funeral services were November 7 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Rev. Jack Clay officiating. Visitation was November 7 at the funeral home. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Clarence H. Craft

July 4, 1930 – Nov. 6, 2008

Clarence H. “Trigger” Craft, 78, of Knightstown, died November 6 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

He was born July 4, 1930, in South Webster, Ohio, a son of the late Harry Olney Craft and Sarah Alice (Bailey) Craft.

Mr. Craft lived most of his life in Knightstown. He was a retired inspector for Ford Motor Company and a U.S. Army veteran. A member of Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and VFW, he was also a member of Faith Chapel in Knightstown.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys (Gray) Craft of Knightstown; a son, Bruce Craft of Knightstown; two daughters, Mary Alice (husband, John) Blake of Brookville and Cindy Robinson of Ingalls; a brother, William Craft of Spiceland; three sisters, Shirley Stacy of Scioto Furnace, Ohio, Hilda Adams of Minford, Ohio, and Wanda Maynard of South Webster, Ohio; a granddaughter, Erica Young; a grandson, Michael Guinn; three great-grandsons, Nicholas Young, Mason Young and Brandon Young; and a niece, Diana Kennedy.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Graveside funeral services were November 10 at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation was November 9 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown.

Nathaniel Aaron Sisiliano

November 7, 2008

Nathaniel Aaron Sisiliano, infant son of William Joseph and Michelle Marie (Tanksley) Sisiliano, died November 7 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.

Survivors include his parents; a brother, William Joseph Sisiliano IV of Bentonville; maternal grandparents, Harry and Karen Tanksley of Knightstown; paternal grandmother, Dana Lofland of New Palestine; paternal great-grandmother, Lathisha Gray of Knightstown; maternal great-grandmother, Rose Tanksley of Carthage; maternal great-grandfather, Clyde Tanksley of Georgia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by an aunt, Jessica Tanksley; and a great-grandfather, Loren Gray.

Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 13, at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Rev. Gene Bennett officiating. Visitation is 12:30 p.m. until time of services at Glen Cove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Nathaniel Aaron Sisiliano, in care of Miller-Moster-Robbins Funeral Home, 1704 Grand Ave., Connersville, IN 47331.

Minnie V. Day

May 18, 1914 – Nov. 7, 2008

Minnie V. Day, 94, of Irving, Tx., formerly of Knightstown, died November 7 at Woodridge Nursing Center in Grapevine, Tx.

She was born May 18, 1914, in Triplett, Ky., a daughter of the late Melvin and Alice (Gulley) Buckner.

Mrs. Day lived in Knightstown most of her life and was a caregiver in her home. She started keeping and caring for women with special needs at her home in 1973. She attended Community Baptist Church in Raysville.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Broyles of Irvin, Tx.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; a brother, Richard Hardy; and five sisters, Cordia Lockridge, Helen Wilcox, Goldie Egan, Ella Butler and Alma Butler.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 13 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Mervin Kilmer officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, at the funeral home.

Ralph D. Henderson

April 27, 1926 – Nov. 20, 2008

Ralph D. Henderson, 82, of Carthage, died November 20 at Richard L. Roudebush V.A. Medical Center in Indianapolis.

He was born April 27, 1926, in Olive Hill, Ky., a son of the late Louis and Grace (Howard) Henderson.

Mr. Henderson was a lifelong Carthage resident and a founding member of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department where he served several terms as fire chief. A member of First Southern Baptist Church of Rushville, he enjoyed coin collecting and fishing. He was known as a loving husband and a great father.

Survivors include his wife, Rose (Brown) Henderson of Carthage; two daughters, Wanda Henderson and Joyce Henderson, both of Carthage; three sons, Ralph (wife, Anita) Henderson of Morristown, Warren (wife, Julie) Henderson of Fishers and John Henderson of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Mandy (husband, Rusty) Locker of Kennard, Phillip, Peter and Patrick Henderson of Fishers and Jesse Henderson of Greenfield; four great-grandchildren, Russell, Andy, Justin and Shelby Locker; five brothers; and two sisters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Henderson; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Henderson; and four sisters.

Funeral services were November 22 at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Arrangements were handled by Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Senior Center or the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department.

James L. Stark

June 9, 1930 – Nov. 21, 2008

James L. Stark, 78, of Wilkinson, died November 21 at Golden Living Center in Greenfield.

He was born June 9, 1930, in Rush County, a son of the late John and Sylva (Martin) Stark.

Mr. Stark was a 1948 Wilkinson High School graduate. He served for several years as a mechanic for the Indiana Department of Transportation, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Charlottesville Lions Club and Wilkinson Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta (Gustin) Stark; three children, Jon (wife, Pat) Stark of Brownsburg, Jan Farmer of Nashville, Tenn., and Julie (husband, Jeff) Taylor of Catonsville, Md.; six grandchildren, Mitchell (wife, Kendall) Stark of Parker, Colo., Matthew Stark of Brownsburg, Jill (husband, Josh) Shults of Bell Buckle, Tenn., Joy (husband, Jeremiah) Donkin of Lavergne, Tenn., and Jordan and Jared Taylor of Catonsville, Md.; and three great-grandchildren, Brennan, Jada and Jeremiah Donkin of Lavergne, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Deane Stark.

Funeral services were November 25 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Rev. Jon Day officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was November 24 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilkinson Church of Christ or Hospice Asera Care of Indianapolis.

Joseph K. Knott

Jan. 28, 1931 – Nov. 22, 2008

Joseph K. Knott, 77, of Knightstown, died November 22 at his home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1931, in Webster, Ky., a son of the late Rhoda and Agnus (Hardesty) Knott.

Mr. Knott lived in Knightstown most of his life. He was a 20-year custodian for the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation. He also worked at CCA in Carthage for 18 years. He was a member of Knightstown Christian Church. Mr. Knott was an avid gardener who enjoyed woodworking and hunting dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Ida (True) Knott of Knightstown; two sons, Charles Knott of Frankfort, Ky., and Kevin (wife, Ann) Knott of Knightstown; a daughter, Kristy Hammonds of Knightstown; a brother, Patrick Knott of Bradenburg, Ky.; four sisters, Florene Springs of Luling, Tx., Ruth Fackler of Bradenburg, Ky., Edna Frantz of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Shirley (husband, Tenny) Wardrip of Bradenburg, Ky.; three grandsons, Joe Knott III, L.K. Knott and Stefan Prieditis; three granddaughters, Cindy Bitner, Holly Longnecker and Ashley Carter; six great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Jana Knott.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Rose Knott; and three brothers.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, at Knightstown Christian Church with Rev. Richard Thayer officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was November 25 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Cancer Fund.
