Mary Bina Jessop
December 25, 1918 – December 17, 2011
Mary Bina Jessop, 92, of New Castle, and formerly of Knightstown, died Dec. 17 at Heritage House of New Castle.
She was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Ashville, N.C., a daughter of the late John Rucker and Dora Mae (Curtis) Jessop.
She was a graduate and honor student from Hapeville, Georgia High School. After giving up a scholarship to college, she worked demonstrating toys in Atlanta’s largest toy department store. She was also a telephone operator in Atlanta, and she and her husband worked together in their businesses. They raised their family on the old "Camel" farm on U.S. Hwy. 40 before moving to a farm on the Greensboro Pike. In the late 1970s, Mrs. Jessop moved to New Castle where she owned a ceramic shop. She was known as a very giving woman, accomplished in many areas, including gardening, flowers, crocheting, knitting and other crafts. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #116 and White Shrine Chapter #14, and was a past member of Psi Iota Xi of Knightstown.
Survivors include her children, Daniel Jr. (wife, Deanna) Jessop and Janice (husband, Roger) Burton; seven grandchildren, Brent, Bradd (wife, Nicole), Benjamin (wife, Jennifer) and Bryce Burton, and Troy (wife, Alba) and Lisa (husband, Paul) Ashby; 12 great-grandchildren, Ariel Jessop, Tricia Jessop, Alec Jessop, Tyler Ashby, Caleb Ashby, Chase Burton, Braden Burton, Alexander Burton, Cyrus Burton, Jordan Burton and Robert and Aubrie Kincaid.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Jessop; one son, Richard Jessop; and eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation is Dec. 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown. The Order of Eastern Star service begins at 7:45 p.m. Funeral services are Dec. 22 at 11:30 a.m. at Hinsey-Brown with Rev. Ryan McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

John M. Cavaletto
April 9, 1943 – December 14, 2011
John M. Cavaletto, 68, of Greenfield, died Dec. 14 at his son’s home in Trafalgar.
After graduating from high school, Mr. Cavaletto served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-68. He worked as a meat cutter for several years. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and Knightstown American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, John (wife, Jessica) Cavaletto of Boston and Alan (wife, Stacey) Cavaletto of Trafalgar; three brothers, Ernest Cavaletto of Greenfield, Virgil (wife, Janice) Cavaletto of Carthage and David Cavaletto of Greenfield; and three grandchildren.
Visitation was Dec. 18 and funeral services were Dec. 19 at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown was entrusted with the arrangements.
Hugh Lee Cole
March 25, 1929 – December 10, 2011
Hugh Lee "Red" Cole, 82, of Markleville died Dec. 10 in Sebring, Fla.
He was born March 25, 1929, in Greenfield, the son of the late Noble Fox Cole and Bertha Crider Sanders.
Mr. Cole graduated from Greenfield High School in 1950 and lived in Greenfield and Hancock County until 1950, when he moved to Markleville. He was a sergeant in the Indiana National Guard from 1950-52, a member and past master at Markleville Masonic Lodge and a member of Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He was employed as a tool and die maker at Delco Remy in Anderson from 1950-90 and farmed in Madison County from 1970 on. He was an avid race car enthusiast and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis F. (Sanford) Cole; a brother, Gene E. (wife, Julie) Cole of Greenfield; three children, Phillip Lee Cole, Penny Luann Ricketts and Susan Renee (husband, Steve) Drinkut, all of Markleville; seven grandchildren, Shane Williams, Chad Williams, Dustin Cole, Austin Cole, Emma Drinkut, Cole Drinkut, Kyle Drinkut; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha (Cole) Chappel.
Visitation and the Masonic Service, conducted by Markleville Masonic Lodge #629, were Dec. 16. Funeral services were Dec. 17 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Tom Wiles officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
Kenneth Eugene Gorman
August 31, 1929 – November 25, 2011
Kenneth Eugene Gorman, 82, of San Clemente, Calif., died Nov. 25.
He was born Aug. 31, 1929, in Knightstown.
Mr. Gorman retired from the Marine Corps in 1977 after 30 years of service, including a tour of duty during the Korean War and two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his son, Gary; daughter-in-law Najmi; daughter Christine; son-in-law Ron; stepdaughter Shirley; six grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Rowland and sister-in-law Mary of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal; and brothers Lawrence, Gerald, James and Lowell of Indiana.
Garold P. Strader
May 21, 1921 – December 31, 2011
Garold P. Strader, 90, died Dec. 31, at Sterling House in Bloomington.
He was born May 21, 1921, in Union City, a son of the late John and Clara Strader.
Mr. Strader served in World War II and received a bronze star for heroic service. He was a farmer and a member of the Moose Lodge. He attended Shirley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, John (wife, Mary) Strader of Bloomington; a daughter, Peggy (husband, Jim) Berrier of St. Augustine, Fla.; three grandchildren, John (wife, Amanda) Strader of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Aaron (wife, Blenda) Berrier of Jacksonville, Fla., and Scott (wife, Heather) Berrier of Shirley; great-grandchildren Alec and Bryce Berrier of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ladaya and Evelynn Berrier of Shirley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maryann Strader; and a brother, Harold Venable.
Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and funeral services are at 1 p.m. on Jan. 4 at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Loretta Greenwalt
May 24, 1940 – December 30, 2011
Loretta Greenwalt, 71, of Greenfield, died Dec. 30 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born May 24, 1940, in Rochester, a daughter of the late Cecil and Helen (Royer) Kline.
Mrs. Greenwalt attended Knightstown High School and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1958. She and her husband founded Greenfield Builders in 1978. With their sons, they also founded Greenwalt Development in 1988 and established GreenTree Senior Communities in 1995. Mrs. Greenwalt was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. She served on the Central Indiana District Wesleyan Church Summer Camp Board for several years. She was known as an accomplished seamstress and a talented pianist.
Over the course of 50 years, she played the piano and organ at many church services and events. She was a member of Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church for almost 50 years.
Survivors include her children, Lynn (wife, Rhonda) Greenwalt of Greenfield, Jeff (wife, Pamela) Greenwalt of Carmel and Dr. Jama (husband, Randy) Davis of Fishers; two brothers, Vance (wife, Margaret) Kline and Wayne Kline; her grandchildren, Tyler, Kasie, Christian, Kitty, Cole, Aaron and Sarah Greenwalt, and Ian and Amanda Davis; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Greenwalt; and two brothers-in-law, Paul (wife, Robin) Greenwalt of Greenfield and Melvin Hughes of Greensboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Greenwalt; her sister, Glenda Hughes; and an infant brother.
Visitation was Jan. 2 and funeral services were Jan. 3 at Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church with Pastor Steve Bradley officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Willodean J. Weimer
October 25, 1915 – December 29, 2011
Willodean J. Kaylor Weimer, 96, of Knightstown, died Dec. 29 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield.
She was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Ohio City, Ohio, a daughter of the late Claude R. and Lura (Smith) Gephart.
Mrs. Weimer was a 1934 graduate of Ohio City High School and attended Huntington College. She was a member of Knightstown United Methodist Church for over 75 years and served as a volunteer at Huntington Hospital for over 20 years. She retired from Art Chemicals in Huntington. Mrs. Weimer was a member of Shakespeare Club in Knightstown. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Weimer of Knightstown; a daughter, Camile (husband, Robert) Weimer of Knightstown; a son, Larry (wife, Rosalie) Kaylor of Langhorne, Penn.; a stepson, David (wife, Jean) Weimer of Knightstown; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Gephart Row of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three nieces and five nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clair L. Kaylor; a grandson, Scott A. Kaylor; two sisters, Carolyn Gephart and Evelyn Neuer-Zuber; three brothers, Denvin, Orlo and Max Gephart; and two nephews.
Private funeral services will take place at the family’s convenience at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. Kenneth Wells officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery.
