Robert W. Broadwater
December 11, 1922 – August 29, 2011
Robert W. Broadwater, 88, of rural Greenfield, died Aug. 29. at Morristown Manor Convalescent Center in Morristown.
He was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Shirley, a son of the late Oscar and Alta (Wisehart) Broadwater.
Mr. Broadwater was retired from GM Guide Lamp after 34 years of service, formerly owned Roned’s Tire, was a member of UAW 663, and was a farmer. He was an avid supporter of Eastern Hancock Band and Athletic Boosters and was a member of Greenfield Friends Meeting.
Survivors include his wife, Sara L. (Jessup) Broadwater; one son, Ned L. (wife, Beth) Broadwater of Valparaiso; two daughters, Gae Broadwater (husband, Joseph B. Parker III) of Frankfort, Ky., and Claire Broadwater (husband, Bill Schneider) of Greensboro, Ga.; one brother, Paul C. Broadwater of Greenfield; one sister, Marybelle Isaacs of Coatesville; three grandsons, Joseph W. (wife, Niki) Hutsell of Mobile, Ala., John W. Hutsell of Hampton, Ga., and Austin R. Broadwater of Valparaiso; two granddaughters, Sara K. Broadwater and Olivia D. Broadwater, both of Valparaiso; one great-granddaughter, Addison L. Hutsell of Mobile, Ala.; and four nieces and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation was Aug. 30 and funeral services were Aug. 31 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Rick Schoeff officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson with military graveside rites. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Greenfield Friends Meeting.
David Jay Thompson
January 7, 1961 – August 27, 2011
David Jay Thompson, 50, of Spiceland, died Aug. 27 at his home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1961, in Henry County, the son of Paul and Helen (Smith) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a former member of Spiceland Volunteer Fire Department. He was employed by Chrysler for five years, Metaldyne for five years and 19 and a half years at Draper Shade. He attended Spiceland United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include, in addition to his parents, his wife, Deborah (Moore) Thompson of Spiceland; daughter Chelsea Thompson of New Castle; son Tyler Thompson of Spiceland; sister Barbara (husband, Steve) Steele of Spiceland; in-laws Don and Sue Moore of Knightstown; brothers-in-law Jay Dee (wife, Penny) Moore and Tony Moore, all of Knightstown; nephews Michael Steele of New Castle and Austin Moore of Knightstown; niece Mandy Burkman of Spiceland; great-niece Kaleigh Burkman of Spiceland; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Mabel Smith; and paternal grandparents Edgar and Hazel Thompson.
Visitation and funeral services were Aug. 30 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Carol Wiley officiating. Burial followed at Brick Church Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Charles E. "Ed" Fort II
August 31, 1937 – August 26, 2011
Charles E. "Ed" Fort II, 73, of Knightstown, died Aug. 26 at Hancock Regional Hospital.
He was born Aug. 31, 1937, in Anderson, a son of the late Glenn and Dorothy Fort.
A 1955 graduate of Knightstown High School, Mr. Fort served in the U. S. Air Force Reserves. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle after 33 years of service. He was a member of UAW-Local # 371 and a member of American Legion Post #152. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon E. Fort of Knightstown; three sons, Donald A. Fort of Knightstown, Stephen M. (wife, Barbara) Fort of New Paris, Ohio, and Charles E. (wife, Colleen M.) Fort of Howell, Mich.; five grandchildren, Sean Fort, Col Fort, Carson Fort, Jordan Andrus, and Brooklynn Marie Fort; a brother, Kenneth (wife, Jayne) Fort of Roswell, Ga.; sister-in-law,Barbara Fort of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard "Dick" Fort.
Visitation was Aug. 28 and funeral services were Aug. 29 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Mary Frances Perry
May 4, 1925 – August 26, 2011
Mary Frances Perry, 86, of Greenfield, died Aug. 26 at Golden Living Center-Brandywine in Greenfield.
She was born May 4, 1925, in Hall, a daughter of the late Herman W. and Bernice (Harris) Williams.
Mrs. Perry retired from Delco Remy in 1981 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ, Good Sams Camping Club, Allison's Camping Club and Psi Iota Xi Sorority.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Perry of Greenfield; daughter Debi (husband, Joe) Simmons of Bixby, Okla.; son Tim (wife, Pam) Perry of Greenfield; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Blanch Williams; and two brothers, Herchel and Richard Williams.
Visitation was Aug. 29 and funeral services were Aug. 30 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Russ Lutes officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
Martha L. Cassiday
December 25, 1918 – August 24, 2011
Martha L. Cassiday, 92, of Anderson, died Aug. 24 at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson.
She was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Rush County, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Reeves.
Mrs. Cassiday retired from the Farmers Home Administration of Henry County and was active in NARFE and the Southdale Towers Cabinet. She was a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ and, more recently, attended First United Methodist Church of Anderson.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Anne (husband, Curt) Pittinger of Richmond; a son, Richard (wife, Dorinda) Cassiday of Anderson; grandchildren Timothy Pittinger, Tina Landis, Benjamin (wife, Eva) Cassiday and Brittania Cassiday; four greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ruth Strain and Dorcus Canary; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Cassiday, and a sister, Katherine Bombaugh.
Visitation was Aug. 26 and funeral services were Aug. 27 at Condo & Son Funeral Home of Wilkinson with Benjamin Cassiday officiating. Burial followed at Center Christian Church Cemetery near Mays.
Robert Phillip Hamblin, Jr.
August 25, 1939 – August 23, 2011
Robert Phillip Hamblin, Jr., 71, of Shirley, died Aug. 23 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Aug. 25, 1939, in Beech Grove, a son of the late Robert and Margaret (Bailey) Hamblin, Sr.
Mr. Hamblin retired from the Indianapolis Police Department in 1991 after 26 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was known as a loving family man and his children were the light of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda (Wires) Hamblin of Shirley; children Gwen (husband, Greg) Back of Shirley, Jo (husband, Chad) Starrett of Shirley, Bob (wife, Lori) Hamblin of Indianapolis, and Brian (wife, Kristi) Hamblin of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Owens of Nineveh; and 17 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Hamblin; and a sister, Carol Cahill.
Visitation and funeral services were Aug. 27 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Arrangements were entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel.
Max Dale Bolinger
January 24, 1928 – September 4, 2011
Max Dale Bolinger, 83, of Kennard, died Sept. 4 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born Jan. 24, 1928, in Greensboro, a son of the late Ott and Violet (Bridwell) Bolinger.
Mr. Bolinger worked in supervision at Delco Remy in Anderson for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended Kennard Friends Church, was a member of the Greensboro Masonic Lodge #175 and was vice president of Kennard Brotherhood and Sisterhood. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, birdwatcher and Indiana and Purdue basketball fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris Bolinger; a son, Duane (wife, J.P.) Bolinger of Shanghai, China; three daughters, Tina (husband, Tom) Martin of Crawfordsville, Darla (husband, Jamie) Doubman of Kennard and Myra (husband, Terry) Dye of Greenfield; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Herschel Bolinger; a sister, Rosemary Reece; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation is Sept. 7 from 5-8 p.m. at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Masonic service will be at 7:30 p.m. given by Lodge #175. Funeral services are Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at Kennard Friends Church with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
