Indiana Marriages, 1780-1992

Roberta Kathryn Jessie

August 14, 1944 – June 7, 2011

Roberts Kathryn "Bertie" (Beach) Jessie, 66, died June 7 at her home in Lewisville.

She was born Aug. 14, 1944, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Stanley Robert and Beulah Dott (Idlewine) Beach.

Mrs. Jessie lived most of her life in the Lewisville community and had worked at the Lewisville Hotel, New Hope Nursing Home in Lewisville, Raintree Programs, New Castle State Hospital and Pizza Hut. She was also a homemaker and enjoyed attending the Church of God in Lewisville, New Castle and Knightstown.

Survivors include her three children, Dixie Dott (husband, Mike) Purvis of New Castle, Robert (wife, Angela) Reid of Shirley and Susan K. Haler of Lewisville; four grandchildren, Candie Marie Purvis, Matthew Robert and Brandon Michael Reid, and Dylan Robert Wayne Bailey; seven stepchildren, Claude, Dean, Darrell, Flint and Trent Jessie, Becky Brown and Joylee Conley; and several step-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Jessie; one sister, Susan Ruth Beach; one stepdaughter, Linda Tanner; and one stepson, Kenny Ray Jessie.

Visitation was June 10 at Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville. Funeral services were also June 10 with Pastors Rick and Elwood Evans officiating. Burial followed in Lewisville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home, P. O. Box 158, Dublin, IN 47335.

Tim Addison

circa 1960 – June 17, 2011

Tim Addison, 51, of Carthage, died June 17 at his home.

Mr. Addison enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and playing piano. He also enjoyed watching PBS documentaries. Before returning to Carthage several years ago, Mr. Addison served as a library assistant at Purdue University. He assisted his grandmother in her declining years.

Survivors include his parents, Dean and Linda Addison of Carthage; a brother, James R. (wife, Leanna) Addison; two sisters, Patricia Steinmetz and Angie Hartzler; and two nephews, three nieces and two great- nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hoyt and Greta Anderson, and his maternal grandmother, Betty (Peffer) Miller.

Private funeral arrangements are pending.

Larry "Mike" Dudley

August 24, 1937 – June 15, 2011

Larry "Mike" Dudley, 73, died June 15 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.

He was born Aug. 24, 1937, in Kennard, a son of the late Lester L. and Marion E. (Mullin) Dudley.

Mr. Dudley retired from Delco Remy after 33 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, V.F.W. of New Castle, Henry County Sheriff’s Department, American Legion of New Castle and Eagles Lodge of New Castle.

Survivors include daughters Amy Dudley of New Castle and April Dudley of Anderson; a son, Larry Michael Dudley, Jr. of New Castle; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Martin of New Castle; a brother, Lester "Bing" Dudley of Wilkinson; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was June 20 and funeral services were June 21 at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial followed at Harlan Cemetery in Wilkinson with military graveside rites.

Jack P. Clark

August 1, 1934 – June 14, 2011

Jack P. Clark, 76, died June 14 in Ringgold, Ga.

He was born August 1, 1934, in Cambridge City, a son of the late Harry M. and Gladis (Burk) Clark.

Due to the early deaths of his parents, he was raised by his sister, Marguerite Green Painter, and her husband, Harold Green, and grew up in Lewisville. He graduated from Lewisville High School and was a member of Lewisville Presbyterian Church. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. As part of the General Electric Space Program in Cincinnati, he participated in the Apollo Space Program and developed the battery that was used in the rocket that was sent to the moon. Later, in California, he was manager of research and development at General Electric Nuclear Power Division, where he received 13 patent awards. He was also recognized by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for his development of a procedure, still in use today, which detects problems within a nuclear reactor.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of Ringgold; three children, Jeff Clark of Watsonville, Calif., Diane Clark-Smith of Lathrop, Calif. and Jerry Clark of Mountain House, Calif.; two sisters, Esther Matthews of Cambridge City and Marguerite Painter of Lewisville; two step-children, Ron Hayes and Jan Gibson of Ringgold; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Linda Ross of Cambridge City and Marianne Noland of Milton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Charles Clark, and a nephew, Richard Green.

Visitation was June 21 at Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home and funeral services were June 22 at Lewisville Presbyterian Church with Revs. Peter Zinn, Arthur Whitaker, and Mick Saunders officiating. Burial followed at Lewisville Cemetery.

Amy L. "Dolly" Voris

February 5, 1936 – June 11, 2011

Amy L. "Dolly" Voris, 75, of Knightstown, died June 11 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.

She was born Feb. 5, 1936 in Morehead, Ky., a daughter of the late Rev. Cleo W. and Alice (Black) Cox.

Ms. Voris retired from Western Electric, division of AT&T, in 1987, after 30 years of service. She had also worked at Ernie’s Grocery in Knightstown. She was a member of Faith Chapel Independent Baptist Church in Knightstown and formerly a member of Church of God in Knightstown. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, shopping and spending time with her grandsons.

Survivors include two daughters, Michell (husband, Miles) Roberts of Fayetteville and Terri Egan of Indianapolis; four grandsons, Jon and Jared Edwards of Black Mountain, N. C. and Michael and Mathew Wilson of Indianapolis; a sister, Darlene Cox of Knightstown, and an aunt and uncle, Margaret and Buster Cox of Muncie.

Visitation was June 17 and funeral services were June 18 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association.

Loretta Faye Baker

October 19, 1942 - June 28, 2011

Loretta Faye Baker photo Loretta Faye Baker, 68, of Greenfield, formerly of Knightstown, died June 28 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born Oct. 19, 1942, in Belcher, Ky., a daughter of the late Luie and Myrtle (Hurley) Mullins.

Mrs. Baker attended Apostolic Pentecostal Church and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Timmy Lee Baker of Tennessee, Jimmy David Baker of Greenfield, Louie E. Baker of Knightstown, Paul J. Baker of Knightstown, Joseph Earl Baker of Greenfield, Kara C. Baker of Greenfield and Jake D. Baker of Greenfield; grandchildren Joshua Paul (wife, Sarah) Baker, Adam Lee Baker, Jessica Marie (husband, Michael) Land, Samantha Jo (hus- band, Stoney) Dickens, Kaitlyn Marie Woods, Zoey Mable Woods, Jason Wilder, Nikki Dalton and Christy Wilder; great-grandchildren Jacob Sean Baker, Layla Jane Land, Fayelynn Joann Land, Allison Paige Baker and Mayleigh Jewel Land; a sister, Shirley (husband, Bob) King of Belcher, Ky.; two brothers, Sammy Wilson Mullins of Lexington, Ky., and Joe (wife, Jenny) Mullins of Elkhorn City, Ky.; and two sisters-in-law, Clestie Mullins of Michigan and Gloria Mullins of Elkhorn City, Ky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Greg King officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 1, at the funeral home.

Irma Ellis

March 15, 1927 - June 23, 2011

Irma Ellis, 84, of Fayetteville, Ark., died June 23 at Washington Regional Medical Center Fayetteville.

She was born March 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Kenneth A. and Ida Mae (Kile) Wilson.

Mrs. Ellis was a Ball State University graduate, who was a member of Knightstown Christian Church. She lived in Knightstown before moving to Arkansas.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth (wife, Beverly) Ellis; a daughter, Chris (husband, Jeff) Hawkins; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters.

Graveside funeral services will take place Thursday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown handled arrangements.
