Alice Mae French
August 1, 1912 – April 24, 2011
Alice Mae French, 98, of Knightstown, died April 24 at Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville.
She was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Rush County, the daughter of the late Arthur and Goldie (Davis) Parker.
Mrs. French was formerly employed at H. P. Wasson Company and McGrady Furniture in New Castle. She was also a farm wife and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sunshine Club and Martha Washington Home Ec Club. She was a member of East Street Christian Church in Carthage. She enjoyed shopping, decorating, cooking and entertaining. She belonged to a euchre club in Rush County for over 50 years and was an avid reader.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet (husband, Ronald) Sullivan of Carthage; a son, Lowell (wife, Marlene) French of Carthage; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer C. French; a daughter, Judy Sutton; an infant son, Bobby Eugene; and a brother, John Parker.
Calling was April 26 and funeral services were April 27 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with the Rev. David Bonne and the Rev. Jim Lawler officiating. Burial followed in Zion Cemetery in Raleigh.

Lonnie I. McQueary
May 24, 1933 – April 24, 2011
Lonnie I. McQueary, 77, formerly of Henry County, died April 24.
He was born in Vinnie, Ky., on May 24, 1933, the son of the late Grover and Ada (Ard) McQueary.
Mr. McQueary was a farmer most of his life and an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Converse) McQueary; sons Robert Sweet of Westfield, Wade (wife, Tricia) McQueary and Doug McQueary of Greensburg; daughters Trish (husband, Brad) Boring and Joyce McQueary, both of Greensburg; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother; one half-brother; and one half-sister.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Hankins.
Calling is April 28 at Todd Funeral Centre and Crematory in Rushville and funeral services are at 10 a.m. on April 29. Burial will follow at Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
Ralph I. Harris
November 15, 1915 – April 23, 2011
Ralph I. Harris, 95, of New Castle, died April 23 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center of Henry County Hospital.
He was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Henry County, a son of the late Emory and Katherine (Hannah) Harris.
Mr. Harris was a retired service manager from McCrocklin Ford at Middletown and had worked for Gas America, Muncie Paving, Chrysler Corporation and St. Louis Smelting and Refining Co. of Baxter Springs, Kan. He served in the United States Air Force in World War II.
Survivors include two nephews, Ronald Harris and Robert Harris Jr. of Kennard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie W. Harris and Robert Seth Harris and one sister, Alice E. Harris.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 27 from 5-7 p.m. at Condo and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
Cynthia Witte Boese
October 25, 1953 - April 18, 2011
Cynthia Witte Boese of Indianapolis, formerly of Arlington, Va., died April 18 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D. C.
She was the daughter of the late Erwin and Dorthy Witte.
Mrs. Boese was a registered nurse and began her career at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. She was employed for 12 years by Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Indiana before beginning a career as a managed healthcare consultant.
Survivors include her husband, J. Lynn Boese; sisters Linda Witte and Lucy Witte; brother Larry Witte; four nieces and one nephew; and six grand-nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services were April 23 in the Peace Chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Patricia Alene Maldonado
October 1, 1965 – April 16, 2011
Patricia Alene (Scott) Maldonado, 45, died April 16 in Champaign, Ill.
She was born Oct. 1, 1965, in Wilkinson, a daughter of the late Estel and Carolyn (Craig) Scott.
Ms. Maldonado was a lifelong homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters, Paula (husband, Jose) Regalado of Champaign, Rhonda (husband, Shawn) Lebarre of Lexington, N.C., three sons, Jay (wife, Kayla) Maldonado, Mario Maldonado and Hector Maldonado, all of Champaign; three sisters, Star Guerrero of Lenor, N.C., Lorena Perez of Dothan, Ala., Irene (husband, Rick) Haskill of Fountain, Fla.; a brother, Jerry Young of Kokomo; adoptive parents William and Sherry Kendall of Frankton; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and stepbrothers William (wife, Tina) Kendall Jr. of Anderson and Christopher (wife, Kiley) Kendall of Frankton.
Funeral services were April 22 at Mechanicsburg Cemetery with Pastor Tom Hunt officiating.

Mary Ellen Ward
April 1, 1918 – April 26, 2011
Mary Ellen Ward, 93, of New Castle, died April 26 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born April 1, 1918, in Henry County, a daughter of the late Willard and Mary Frances (Nugen) Ward.
Ms. Ward retired from Delco Remy in Anderson after many years of service. She was a member of DAR, Kennard Historical Society and Henry County Historical Society. She attended Greensboro Friends Meeting, enjoyed antiquing and attending auctions. She was a lifetime resident of Henry County. She loved her farm, on which she was born, and farming, nature and the outdoors.
Survivors include two cousins, Eloise Nunn of Scappoose, Ore., and Jane Turner of Muncie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sally McColley.
Visitation and funeral services were April 29 at Greensboro Friends Meeting. Burial followed in Lewisville Cemetery.

Martha Jean Blessing
February 22, 1930 – April 30, 2011
Martha Jean (Ramp) Blessing, 81, died April 30 at Golden Living Center Brandywine in Greenfield.
She was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Columbia City, a daughter of the late Ira and Eva R. (Johnson) Ramp.
Mrs. Blessing retired from the Pendleton Reformatory in 1989. She was a member of the Willow Branch Methodist Church, and she enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet (husband, Mike) Shanahan of Palatine, Ill., Pam (husband, Bob) Galen of Los Altos, Calif., Julie (husband, Jon) Cain of Wilkinson; five grandchildren, Chris Shanahan, Jaime (Shanahan) Gasunas, Beth (Cain) Zeilinga, Becky (Cain) Zapf, and Andrew Galen; four great-grandsons; a sister, Nancy Stamper; and two brothers, Richard Ramp and Bill Ramp.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Blessing; a sister, Eloise Boyce; and two brothers, Jack and Donald Ramp.
Graveside funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on May 4 at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson with Adam Payne and Jim Carrie officiating. Visitation will be at the graveside one hour prior to the service. Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson is handling the arrangements.
