Eldon Ray

Eldon "Tom" Ray, 84, of Carthage, died April 10 at his home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Carthage, a son of the late David and Dora (Stuart) Ray.
Mr. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Dumford Trucking Company, where he worked as a truck driver for many years. A member of the teamsters union, Mr. Ray enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include five daughters, Penny Jones of Carthage, Nancy (husband, Bill) Vickery of New Castle, Sherry (husband, Roger) Jones of Greenfield, Letha (husband, John) Abrell of Carthage, and Vanessa (husband, Ronnie) Peavie of Pendleton; a son, Kenneth "Bud" (wife, Mary) Ray of Carthage; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Delsie Montgomery of Carmel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Jordan) Ray; a daughter, Francie Jasper; two brothers, Albert and Kenneth Ray; and a sister, Lucille Ray.
Funeral services were April 13 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Paul Lawson officiating. Burial followed at Carthage Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was April 12 at the funeral home.

Billy J. "Bill" Boggs

Billy J. "Bill" Boggs, 75, of Spiceland, died April 8 at Henry County Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Welchburg, Ky., a son of the late Luther and Mamie (Wilson) Boggs.
Mr. Boggs retired in 1997 from Roll Coater in Greenfield following 22 years of service. He enjoyed hunt- ing, gardening, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Aileen Boggs, of Spiceland; children Dianne (husband, Tom) Vickers of Winchester, Ky., Michael (wife, Susan) Boggs, Mark (wife, Dodie) Boggs, Beth Boggs-Clendening and Bradford Boggs, all of Spiceland; grandchildren Kyle, Sean, Audrey, Rachel, Hanna, Jacob and Abbigail Boggs, Kate Clendening and Sarah Vickers; sisters Lula Wells, Helen Gilliam, Lois Wininger and June McGeorge; and brothers Alfred Boggs, Fred Boggs and Gene Boggs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Boggs.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Kirk Chenault

Marjorie Kirk Chenault, 83, of Springboro, Ohio, formerly of Raysville, died March 16.
She was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Peppertown (Franklin County), the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Stephenson) Kirk.
Mrs. Chenault was a 1946 graduate of Knightstown High School. She worked at National Cash Register, and was a church secretary, as well as a cook in the Springboro school system.
Survivors include her children, James Kent (wife, Kim) Chenault, Judy Lynn (husband, Keith) Williams, Janet Lee (husband, Ralph) Williams and Jacqueline (husband, John) Kraemer; a sister, Genevieve Lamb; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Connie Caudill of Knightstown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Chenault; her brothers, Stanley and Ransey Kirk; and her sisters, Leoma Williamson, Myrtle Hamm and Alma Brock.
Visitation and funeral services were March 21 at Anderson Funeral Home in Springboro. Burial was in Springboro Cemetery.
Anna Kennedy

Anna (Wolski) Kennedy, 88, of Shirley died April 18 at her home.
She was born July 21, 1922, in Anderson, a daughter of the late Jacob James Wolski II and Audrey (Love) Wolski. Mrs. Kennedy retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1977 after 35 years of service. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Knightstown, and she was an active member of the Red Hats Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a brother, Dale Wolski of New Castle; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn (husband, Richard) Wolski, Lola (husband, Robert) Wolski and Judi (husband, Donald) Wolski; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell G. Kennedy; a sister, Audrey Snider; and five brothers, Walter, Jacob, Robert, Richard and Donald Wolski.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown with Father Mike Kettron officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20.

Richard G. Fort

Richard G. Fort, 68, of Anderson, died April 16.
He was born Feb. 3, 1943, in Anderson, a son of the late Glenn Fort and Dorothy (Puckett) Fort Carey.
Mr. Fort graduated from Knightstown High School in 1961. He was an avid NASCAR fan, attending the Michigan NASCAR race for 40 years. He enjoyed working outside on his yard and helping his neighbors. He was the manager of Ornamental Iron Division at Mofab in Anderson for over 25 years. He previously worked as a salesman at Continental Bakery.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Vaughn) Fort of Anderson; children Richard S. Fort, Gina (husband, Mike) McVey of Anderson and Nicole (husband, Chris) Miskel of Sydney, Australia; brothers Charles Edward (wife, Sharon) Fort of Knightstown and Kenneth (wife, Jayne) Fort of Roswell, Ga.; five grandchildren, Justin Fort, Jennifer Fort and Michael McVey of Anderson,and Sage Miskel and Mace Miskel of Sydney; four great-grandchildren, Chayse, Maddox, Greyson and Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is at 11 a.m. on April 20 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home in Anderson, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary McCaslin officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.

Robert David "Dave" Elliott

Robert David "Dave" Elliott, 64, of Summerfield, Fla., died April 11.
He was born Jan. 19, 1947, the son of the late Robert V. Elliott and Elnora Jean (Heim) Whitaker.
Mr. Elliott was raised in Grant City and graduated from Knightstown High School in 1965. He lived in the Shirley area before moving to Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Pam (Whisler) Elliott of Summerfield; a son, Robert "Bobby" C. Elliott of Summerfield; a step-son, Brian (wife, Holly) Wisehart of Kokomo; a step-daughter, Tracy (husband, Chris) Austin of Shirley; six grandchildren, Natasha Wisehart, Darrian Wisehart, Havyn Wisehart, Brandon Ray, Corey Ray and Patrick Austin; sisters Carol R. Smith of Shirley and Linda M. Elliott of Pendleton; a nephew, Michael "Mike" C. Ray of Shirley; nieces Sandy (husband, Jim) Todd of Plainfield, Rebecca (husband, Todd) Bilbrey of Southport and Diana (husband, Rodney) Littleton of Knightstown; an uncle, Richard (wife, Marilyn) Heim of Knightstown; two aunts, Ruth (husband, Phil) Kattau of Rockville and Mary (husband, Bob) Ryckmon of Debary, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Jean Elliott. Funeral services are Saturday, May 14, at 1 p.m. at Knightstown Friends Church.

Kenneth L. Land

Kenneth L. Land, 79, of Carthage died April 25 at Henry County Hospital.
He was born in Milroy on Aug. 23, 1931, the son of Chauncy and Isabel Kelley Land.
Mr. Land graduated from Raleigh High School in 1951. He was president of the senior class and was a mem- ber of the 1951 Rush County high school basketball championship team. He retired from Charles A. Beard Schools, where he worked as a custodian for several years. He was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Anderson, and a 50-year member of both Rush Lodge #580 and Farm Bureau. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years, a member of the Order of the Arrow, Fire Crafters and participated in 4-H.
Survivors include one son, Kelly (wife, Julie Reed) Land of Carthage; one daughter Victoria (husband, Walt) Fafata of Knightstown; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann (Truitt) Land.
Calling is April 27 from 4-8 p.m. at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown and funeral services are April 28 at 10 a.m. at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Anderson with the Rev. John Hackney officiating. Burial will be at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
