Rebecca K. (Barnett) Hughett

Rebecca K. "Becky" (Barnett) Hughett, 50, of Knightstown, died Feb. 28 at her home.
She was born Dec. 20, 1960, in Junction City, Kan., a daughter of Glen Richard Barnett and Linda Sue (Reeves) Barnett.
Mrs. Hughett lived and attended school at the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home in Knightstown. She worked at the Knightstown Café, Pastry Etc., Pic-n-Save and American Legion Post 152, serving as a cook mostly. She was a member of American Legion Post 152 Auxiliary. Mrs. Hughett enjoyed going to casinos, scratching off lottery tickets and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis R. Hughett of Knightstown; three daughters, Becky (husband, Roger) Hinton of Mooreland, Jeri Flowers of Greenfield and Haley Hughett of Knightstown; a son, John (wife, Caressa) Flowers of New York; two stepdaughters, Benita (husband, Tommy) Gross and Misty Doyle, both of New Castle; her mother, Linda Sue (husband, Charles) Prater of Spiceland; her father, Glen Richard Barnett of Richmond; three sisters, Kathy Lodgston of Rushville, April Hutcherson of Knightstown and Robin Simpkins of New Castle; a brother, Richard T. Barnett of Spiceland; eight grandchildren, Hunter, Emmerson, Carter, Parker, John Jr., Xavier, Liam and Ashton; and five step-grandchildren, Tameria, Lisa, A.J., Gabrielle and Josey.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Pierce Barnett; a grandmother, Florence Reeves; and an infant daughter, LeeAnn Flowers.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Gail Whitmire officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the funeral home.

Chalen E. Wilkerson
September 11, 1931 – February 24, 2011
Chalen E. Wilkerson, 79, of Shirley, died Feb. 24 at his residence.
He was born September 11, 1931, in Knightstown, the son of the late Stanley and Doris (Shipley) Wilkerson.
Mr. Wilkerson retired from Delco Remy in Anderson after 34 years and he was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammi Wilkerson and Shannon Wilkerson, both of Shirley; and his twin brother, Chalmer Wilkerson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and his son, Charles Wilkerson.
Funeral services were Feb. 28 at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with minister Richard Thayer officiating. Visitation was prior to the service.
Patricia Ann (Porter) Cronk
November 5, 1955 – February 23, 2011
Patricia "Patty" Ann (Porter) Cronk, 55, died Feb. 23.
She was born on Nov. 5, 1955, in Tipton, the daughter of Robert and Evelyn Porter.
Mrs. Cronk graduated from Eastern Hancock High School in 1974. She participated in many clubs and activities and was a member of the National Honor Society. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University and taught fourth and fifth grades at Eastern Hancock School Corporation for 30 years. She was an active member of Wilkinson Church of Christ. She was known as a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, LeRoy A. Cronk; her children, Sarah E. (husband, Matthew) Wilfley of Cumberland and Evelyn (Shelton) Taylor of Shirley; her mother, Evelyn (Shelton) Taylor of Shirley; her brother, Michael C. (wife, Ann) Porter of Elkhart; her grandchild, Brooklyn Wilfley; two nieces; five nephews; two great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation was Feb. 25 and funeral services were Feb. 26 at Wilkinson Church of Christ. Arrangements were made by Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Patricia Sue (McCormick) Wilson
November 6, 1946 – February 23, 2011
Patricia Sue (McCormick) Wilson, 64, formerly of Carthage, died Feb. 23.
She was born Nov. 6, 1946, the daughter of the late Carver and Magdalene McCormick.
Mrs. Wilson was a former member of Knightstown First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, George Wilson; four children, Meagan (husband, Daniel) Boone of Palmyra, Audre (husband, Dan) Garland of Palmyra, Jason (wife, Beth) of Knoxville, Tenn., and Casey (wife, Kendra) of Canton, Ohio; three brothers, Bob McCormick of New Castle, Frank McCormick of New Castle and Jerry McCormick of New Lisbon; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Keith; and her brother-in-law, Joe Wilson.
Visitation was Feb. 25 and funeral services were Feb. 26 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home in New Castle.
Edith C. Riggs
April 10, 1918 – February 22, 2011
Edith C. Riggs, 92, of Shirley, died Feb. 22 at Henry County Hospital in New Castle.
She was born April 10, 1918, in Union Ridge-Cedar Crest, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert Henderson and Minnie Lee (Burris) Coomer.
Mrs. Riggs lived most of her life in the Shirley community. She attended the Shirley Friends Church and retired from Delco-Remy in Anderson. She was known as a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include three daughters, Mavis Rhea (husband, Larry) Allen of Greenfield, Velma Jean (husband, Gary) Roy of Knightstown and Watina Ruth Keller of Shirley; 11 grandchildren, Mack (wife, Joene) Agee, James B. (wife, Linda) Agee, Kenneth C. Agee, Tracy D. Agee, Tammy Spence, Brian Roy, Lori (husband, Kerry) True, Michael and Brent Keller, Christina Masters and Amber (husband, Josh) Thomas; great- and great-great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces, including Patricia Coomer and Senita Haynes.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Riggs was preceded in death by her first husband, James Raymond McGowan and her second husband, Kenneth P. Riggs; her son, George Edgar McGowan; two daughters, Norma June McGowan and Brenda Lee McGowan; two sisters, Louise Redmon and Elsie King; and three brothers, Albert, Ernest and Robert Coomer.
Visitation was Feb. 24. Funeral services were Feb. 25 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Shirley with Jim Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Harlan Cemetery north of Wilkinson.
Nehemiah "Nemo" James Walton
February 23, 1987 – February 21, 2011
Nehemiah "Nemo" James Walton, 23, of Anderson, died Feb. 21 in Greenfield.
He was born Feb. 23, 1987, a son of Dennis Walton and Kathy (Worthington) Ebbing.
Mr. Walton was a 2008 graduate of the Greensburg Christian Academy. He loved working on cars and computers and playing video games.
He is survived by his father, Dennis (wife Debbie) Walton of Greenfield; his mother, Kathy (husband, Steve) Ebbing of Indianapolis; a sister, Jacquelin Walton of Anderson; maternal grandparents, Gene and Judy Worthington of New Castle; six step-brothers and sisters, Brandon (wife, Crystal) Giles of Ky., Phillip Giles of Va., Amber Baker of Ky., Amanda, Danielle and Jared Ebbing of Indianapolis; a cousin, Scott Gaddis of Shelbyville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Walton was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Shirley Walton.
Funeral services were Feb. 25 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Kinion officiating. Burial will be at a later time. Arrangements were made by Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home.
Mary E. Johnson
March 9, 1918 – March 8, 2011
Mary E. Johnson, 92, of Knightstown, died March 8 at Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born March 9, 1918, in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Russell and Rebecca (Kendall) Scarff.
Mrs. Johnson was a 1936 graduate of Cadiz High School. She was the first woman forklift operator at Guide Lamp in Anderson and retired after 29 years of service there. A member of Knightstown Friends Meeting, she loved to travel and play euchre, and very much enjoyed her yard and flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was known for her wonderful smile and her joke telling.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Johnson and Rusty (wife, Debbie) Johnson of Knightstown; seven grandchildren, Beth (husband, Shane) Jones of South Carolina, Linda (husband, Ed) Hughett of Knightstown, Brenda Mitchell of Knightstown, Jon Johnson of Knightstown, Steve Johnson of Indianapolis, Amanda Johnson of Irvine, Calif., and Hilary Johnson of Indianapolis; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one niece and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Johnson; her guardians, Lohm and Henry Garner; two brothers, Clifford and Everett Scarff; a sister, Harriett Johnson; a niece, Mary Jean Ware; and a great-grandson.
Visitation was March 11 and funeral services were March 12 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
