Violet N. Saylors
March 19, 1929 – February 14, 2011
Violet N. Saylors, 81, of Shirley, died Feb. 14 at Lawrence Manor in Indianapolis.
She was born Mar. 19, 1929, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Chester and Dorothy (Willoughby) Staley.
Mrs. Saylors was known as a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener. She worked at RCA in Indianapolis and was a member of the Greensboro Eastern Star #543.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne (husband, Ken) Delbridge of New Castle and Linda "Andrea" (hus- band, James) Rannefeld of Taos, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Saylors; two daughters, Becky Saylors and Diana Thalmann; and two brothers, Chester Staley and Melvin Staley.
Funeral services will be Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in New Castle. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Feb. 17.
Patricia "Patty Kay" Bever
January 14, 1938 – February 9, 2011
Patricia "Patty Kay" Bever, 73, of Carthage, died on Feb. 9 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Knightstown, the daughter of Charles and Kathleen Jeanette (McNew) Kenley.
Mrs. Bever was a 1956 graduate of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis and was a secretary for Eli Lilly Company during and after high school. She was a secretary in the Health Sciences Department of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, at the Oklahoma University School of Nursing and for Allied Health at the University of Colorado. She enjoyed reading novels and playing the piano.
Survivors include her husband, Dwayne E. Bever of Carthage; mother, Kathleen Jeanette Atkinson of Cumberland; five children, Lizabeth Franklin of Georgetown, Texas, Robert Wright of Mammoth, Utah, Susan (husband, Victor) Alonzi of Tulsa, Okla., Dwayne Bever, Jr. of Hayden, Idaho, and Natalie Kay (husband, Oscar) Martinez of Bastrop, Texas; siblings David (wife, Cindy) Atkinson, Harry (wife, Cheryl) Atkinson and Roxeanne (husband, Patrick) Farley, all of Indianapolis, and Jo (husband, Alberto) Belmont of Mexico; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and her grandfather, Harry McNew.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Feb. 16 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel.

Elizabeth Doreen Cates
December 20, 1958 – February 7, 2011
Elizabeth Doreen Cates, 52, of Knightstown, died on Feb. 7 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia on Dec. 20, 1958, the daughter of the late Earl Harold and Nancy Leon (Stevens) Adams.
Ms. Cates was a CNA and attended Knightstown Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include her mother, Nancy Adams of Greenfield; one son, "Jake" (wife, Jessica) Carr of Wilkinson; two daughters, Onnaca M. Wethington of Knightstown and Margie Mahill of Greenfield; nine grandchildren, Stormy, Delta, Elizabeth, Paula, Tanner, Tionna, Haley, Tyreke and Earl; six brothers, Fred, Stanley, Eli, Jason, Danno and Teddy Adams; and four sisters, Helma Sheppard, Diane Redman, Tammy Tutrow and Nancy Mathews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul, and one sister, Anna Ayers.
Calling and services were held on Feb. 11 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville. Pastor John Baker officiated. Burial followed in Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
Mary Lamoin Orrell
December 31, 1928 – February 6, 2011
Mary Lamoin Orrel, 82, of Knightstown, died on Feb. 6 at her residence.
She was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Dunreith, the daughter of the late Sherman and Frankie (Mays) Goodpaster.
Ms. Orrell retired from Delco-Remy in Anderson after 30 years. She was a member of the American Legion in Knightstown.
Survivors include a son, Gary (wife, Suzanne) Orrell of Parker, Ariz.; grandchildren, Laura S. (husband, Tracy) Abrisch of Crestview, Fla., Gary L. (wife, Carla) Orrell Jr. of Rushville and Molina Orrell of Loon Lake, Wash.; 10 greatgrandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews, including Peggy Kruse of Anderson.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Madge Merideth, and one brother, Roger Goodpaster.
There was a graveside service on Feb. 14 at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown American Legion, 224 E. Main St., Knightstown, IN 46148. Arrangements were entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel.
Dorothy J. Riggs
June 12, 1934 – February 14, 2011
Dorothy J. Riggs, 76, formerly of Knightstown, died Feb. 14 at The Waters in New Castle.
She was born June 12, 1934, the daughter of the late Lowell Thomas Jessup and Catherine (Compton) Jessup.
Mrs. Riggs worked for many years for General Motors as a line operator. She had been a member of the Knightstown Christian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Michael J. (wife, Kimberly) Riggs of Knightstown, Patrick D. (wife, Wanda) Riggs of Shelbyville, Steven (wife, Darlene) Riggs of Upland; three daughters, Lymnn Kleiman of Shelbyville, Constance D. (husband, William) Pugh of South Milwaukee, Wis., Jeanne (husband, Van) Hastings of Wilkinson; two brothers, John (wife, Ida) Jessup of Knightstown, Max (wife, Rosemary) Jessup of Spiceland; six sisters, Martha Smalley of California, Iris (husband, James) Montgomery of California, Sara (husband, Robert) Broadwater of Greenfield, Nancy (husband, James) Pennington of Indianapolis, Eleanor (husband, Don) Painter of New Castle and Joy (husband, Tim) Woodruff of Liberty; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Darwin (Dub) Riggs, one great-grandson and one son-in-law.
Service will be Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Calling will be on Feb. 17 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

William V. Harrold
February 6, 1921 – February 19, 2011
William V. Harrold, 90, of Knightstown died Saturday, Feb. 19, at his home.
He was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Henry County, the son of the late Walter and Mae (Vaughn) Harrold.
Mr. Harrold graduated from Mays High School. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Knightstown United Methodist Church, Knightstown American Legion and V.F.W. and a former member of the Knightstown Kiwanis. He worked for Kerr-McGee for 25 years, retiring as district manager.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Lee Goble; one son, Phil (wife, Nancy) Harrold of Noblesville; one daughter, Janet (husband, Owen) Neighbors of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Amanda (husband, Michael) Burris and Brad (wife, Angela) Harrold; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Harrold.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Pastor Randy Gross officiating and full military graveside rites provided by the Knightstown American Legion Post 152. The Todd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Connie J. Lewis
April 2, 1941 – February 16, 2011
Connie J. Lewis, 69, of Greenfield died Feb. 16 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born April 2, 1941, in Marion County, a daughter of the late Max and Guinevere (Collingwood) Lewis.
Survivors include a sister, Marcia Ann (husband, Warren) Cole of Columbia City; brother Steve (wife, Dianna) Lewis of Greenfield; aunt Martha Pope of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ms. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents.
Calling and services were held on Feb. 21 at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Danny Cury officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
