Mary C. Stine, age 64 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Monday September 5, 2011 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.

She was born December 25, 1946 in Pageton, West Virginia to the late Kyle Martin & Mae (Belcher) Martin.

She retired from Jim Dandy Restaurant in 2009 as a food prep cook. She loved gardening and animals.

She is survived by her sons, James (Wanda) Stine of Indianapolis, Christopher Stine of Greenfield, Brian Stine of Greenfield, Mark (Kristie) Stine of Indianapolis, 7 brothers, 4 sisters and 9 grandchildren.

Friends may call Friday September 9, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro, Indiana.

Jasper N. Silcox

(January 7, 1922 - September 9, 2011)

Jasper N. Silcox, age 89 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Friday September 9, 2011 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.

He was born January 7, 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Richard Silcox & Lenna (Anderson) Silcox.

He retired from Xerox in 1983 and Wal-Mart in 2006. He loved baseball, racing and was just an overall sports fan. He also loved to do cross-word puzzles. He was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church and was a church elder.

He is survived by his wife, Uldine (Dunkerson) Silcox of Greenfield, son, Richard M. (Betty) Silcox of Greenfield, daughter, Jean (Lonnie) Dugan of Indianapolis, step-son, Robert G. (Rita) Robbins of Indianapolis, 7 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 step great-grandchild and 2 step great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Marietta, a son Larry, 2 sisters, Olive Neutzman and Helen Riegle.

Friends may call Monday September 12, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 13, 2011 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Betty W. Clark

(August 6, 1926 - September 11, 2011)

Betty Clark, age 85 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Sunday September 11, 2011 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.

She was born August 6, 1926 in Clay County, Indiana to the late Fedrick Whippo and Grace (Rukes) Whippo.

She worked as a staff R.N. at Hancock Regional Hospital from 1962-1991and retired from that location. Betty was a member of the Quilting club, the Sewing Club, and the Better Breathers Association. She was member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Greenfield.

She is survived by her son Daniel (Kathleen) Clark of Greenfield, and sister Barbara Yaryan, California.

She was preceded in death by her sister Roma Peterson, brother William Whippo, Indianapolis and brother Paul Whippo, North Carolina.

Friends may call Wednesday September 14, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday September 15 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.

Robert L. Hunt

(February 5, 1916 - September 12, 2011)

Robert L. Hunt, age 95 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Monday September 12, 2011 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.

He was born February 5, 1916 in Rush County, near Carthage, Indiana to the late Elmer Hunt and Flora (Graham) Hunt.

He worked at Allison's during WWII and later was a mechanic and service writer for Monarch Buick .For most of his career he was an insurance adjuster for various companies, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Hancock Lodge #101 F&AM; and The Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. He attended Trinity Park United Methodist Church and was an avid golfer and a 25 year member of a gospel quartet in Greenfield.

He is survived by his sons, Gary R. (Marcia) Hunt of Charlottesville, Dean S. (Mary Jane) Hunt of Greenfield and Alan J. (Carol) Hunt of Richmond, Kentucky, 7 grandchildren, 2 Step-Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Hunt, 3 Brothers, 2 Sisters and 1 Great –Granddaughter.

Friends may call Thursday September 15, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be 10: a.m. Friday September 16, 2011 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.

Mary Willidean Sullivan

(July 22, 1949 - September 8, 2011)

Mary Willidean Sullivan, age 62 years, a resident of Greencastle and formally of Greenfield passed away Thursday September 8, 2011 at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, Indianapolis.

She was born July 22, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Theodore Sample and Mattie (Graham) Sample.

She was a retired QMA nursing assistant. She was a member of Moose Lodge # 138 in Greencastle. She loved to play bingo and was an avid poker player.

She is survived by her daughters, Terri (Sean) Donahue of Greencastle, Deanna (Lucio) Sanchez of Greencastle, brother, Theodore Sample, sister, Janet Parrish, grandchildren, Tiffany Dill, Staphany Dawson, Michael Dawson, Morgan Clements, Breanna Clements and Aiden Johnson, great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Dill and Devony Clements and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Michael Dill, brother, John Sample and sisters, Daisy Yates, Lilly Enterkin and Lourada Williams.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday September 17, 2011 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Moose Lodge # 138, 212 W. Franklin St., Greencastle, Indiana 46135

Richard O. Short

(September 2, 1933 - September 24, 2011)

Richard O. Short, age 78 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at his residence.

He was born September 2, 1933 in Greenfield, Indiana to the late John W. and E. Jeanette (Wilkins) Short.

Richard was a graduate of New Palestine High School, retired from Navistar of Indianapolis after 33 years of employment and formerly was Vice President of Plywood Inc. also of Indianapolis. He served in the US Navy and was the first man in Hancock County to be drafted. He was a member of the Greenfield American Legion Post #119 and was an avid supporter of Bobby Knight and I.U. basketball and sports. He was an avid Colts Fan, loved construction and restoring older homes.

He is survived by his wife, Carole (Thomas) Short of Greenfield, daughters, Tiese (Tony) Thomas of Greenfield, Trina (Richard) Burk of Greenfield, Michele (Fred) Lease-Johnson of Athens, GA, Julie ( T.J. Grossman) Lease of Carmel, sons, Justin Short of Chicago, Jason Lease of Indianapolis, sister, Donna Maupin of New Palestine, brothers, Donald, Arthur, Bill all of New Palestine, 7 grandchildren, Audra, Morgan, Drew, Sarah, Drake, Henri, Sam, 2 step-grandchildren, Josh, Kyle and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda (Brown) Short.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 29, 2011 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call Wednesday September 28, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ishmael Stephens

(June 14, 1918 - September 26, 2011)

U.S. Veteran

Ishmael Stephens, age 93 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Monday morning September 26, 2011 at his residence.

He was born June 14, 1918 in Hartwell, Indian to the late Charles and Mayzie (Davis) Stephens.

He served in the US Army where he received the Purple Heart for his injuries received in the Battle of The Bulge. He worked as a farmer, coal miner and a shipyard hand. He also worked for Crane Naval Weapons Depot and retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the UAW, Jasper VFW and the American Legion Post of Winslow, Indiana. Ishmael was a story teller that loved his family, spending time with them and watching his grandchildren compete in sports. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.

He is survived by his son, Richard (Phyllis) Stephens of Greenfield, granddaughter, Felicia (Jeff) Frazier of Greenfield, grandson, Richard Stephens of Greenfield, great grandchildren, Sami Frazier, Michael (Chrissy) Frazier, Mathew Frazier, Cory Stephens, Jesse Stephens, great great-grandchild, Haven Frazier, several nieces and nephews including, Pat Hollan, Bruce Kifer and Brenda Stone.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Opha M. (Price) Stephens and a sister, Cletis Thomas.

Friends may call Friday, September 30, 2011 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military graveside rites provided by the Greenfield Veteran Honor Guard.
