MISHAWAKA--June E. Kocsis, 69, of McKinley Highway, died Sunday in St. Joseph Medical Center following an illness. He is survived by his wife, Judith A. Laura M. Paprocki

SOUTH BEND--Laura M. Paprocki, 81, of Mulberry Road, born on April 5, 1940 in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Charles Vernon and Louise M. (Stamper) Butte, and moved to Edwardsburg, Mich., in 1969 from Elkhart. He was a graduate of Elkhart High School's class of 1958. He was an electrician and worked for C.T.S. in Elkhart for 18 years, and then worked for Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka, Ind., from 1979 to 1998. Al and his late father, Vern, were co-owners of Economy Electric Service in the Edwardsburg area for several years.
Al was married on Oct. 29, 1973 in Bourbon, Ind., to Sandra K. Strang, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter and her husband, BethAnn (John) Nelson of Edwardsburg; a son and his wife, Michael Allen (Diona) Butte, with the U.S. Navy, as FC2, at Chula Vista, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kayce Nelson of Edwardsburg and Michael A. Butte of Chula Vista; a sister, Kathleen A. Seaton of Kansas City, Mo.; and by his mother, Louise M. Butte of Edwardsburg.
Al was a member of Sons of the American Legions (S.A.L.) of Edwardsburg Legion Post 365.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26 in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, with Rev. Walter K. Davis, Pastor of the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Adamsville Cemetery.
Friends are being received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 25, at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, and one hour before services on Wednesday.

Brother Valery Greenwell

Brother Valery (Paul) Greenwell, C.S.C. was born on Feb. 13, 1926 in Emporia, Kan., and had resided in this area since 1966. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Emporia State University, a Master of Science Degree from Kansas State Teacher's College, and did post graduate work at the University of Kansas and the University of Notre Dame.
Francis taught at Garden City Junior College (Kansas) and Regis College (Denver, Colo.). He taught Social Studies and coached basketball, baseball and golf at Central High School, Dickinson Middle School and Riley High School, retiring in 1992. He also served as a commissioner at Purdue University Basketball Camp for more than 20 years. Francis was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
On July 6, 1966 in Chicago, Ill., Francis married Karen Downard, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Cecelia (Larry) Lewis of Burlington, Kan., Erin (Ken) Kauffman of Window Rock, Ariz., and Bronwyn (Tim) Minier of Wixom, Mich.; two sons, Karl (Cora) Kiene of Burleson, Texas and Francis (Bobbie) Kiene of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Marilee Phillips of Emporia, Kan., and Carol Herbert of Olathe, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and by five great-grandchildren.
Francis was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ehret in 1991.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in Little Flower Catholic Church. Friends may call in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to the Food Pantry of the Little Flower Catholic Church.
Florence M. Slack

Florence M. Slack went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Hamilton Grove Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born on Sept. 22, 1903, in LaPorte, Ind., she was 96.
She leaves behind a loving husband, Wilburn C., also of Hamilton Grove. They had been married 73 years in June. Cherishing her memory are a son and daughter-in-law, Roger C. and Lila M. Slack of Fulton, Ind., as well as grandsons, Kenneth E. (Barbara) of Granger, Ind., and Stephen J. (Denice) of Fort Wayne, Ind., and a great-grandson, Jonathan R. Slack of South Bend. Her half sister, Anna May May resides in Buchanan, Mich., her half brother, Otto (Marge) Kollar resides in LaPorte. Also missing her is her niece, Rosemary Miller and family of LaPorte, Ind. Her brother, Gary Stites of Downey, Calif., preceded her in death.
For 60+ years, she and Wilburn resided in Stillwell, Ind., where she served as Postmaster from 1958 to 1986, and ran Slack's Grocery Store from 1954 to 1986.
Mrs. Slack was a member of Salem Chapel Methodist Church for many years and served the church faithfully.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 3 to 7 p.m. (LaPorte time) at the Cutler Funeral Home in LaPorte, and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, also at Cutler's. Burial will be in the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
Memorials may be given to the Salem Chapel Methodist Church or Hamilton Grove.
Ariana M. Troccoli

Ariana Marie Troccoli, 18, of Meadow Run Court, in Granger, Ind., passed away on Jan. 20, 2000 in Granger, after an automobile accident.
Ariana was born on Dec. 25, 1926 in Alabama to the union of Thomas and Roberta (Banks) Ward who both preceded him in death. Coming from Alabama in 1948, he moved to South Bend. He retired from the Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center in 1965 after many years of employment in the maintenance department.
He was united in holy matrimony to Virginia (Singleton) in 1975, who preceded him in death in 1996.
Mr. Ward is survived by two daughters, Tonya Ward of South Bend, Roberta (her husband, Donald) Lee of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sons, Matthew Ward, Jr. and Kevin (his wife, Trianetta) Hall, both of South Bend; three grandchildren, Alexis Lee of Indianapolis, Ind., Staton Blount, Jr., and Kavon Hall; two special friends, Shirley Mincy and Hollis Hughes, all of South Bend, Ind.; along with a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Alford's Mortuary has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
Joseph Wolter, Sr.

Joseph Wolter, Sr., loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, born on Nov. 8, 1915, to Grace (Louthan) and Joseph Wolter in South Bend, Ind.
Joe worked for the South Bend Lathe Works before opening his own photography store in Mishawaka. During those years on Lincolnway West, he and his wife, Jane, who survives, shared with their three children many trips to the Canadian wilderness, instilling in them a love for nature. After retirement, Grandpa and Grandma traveled abroad frequently, enjoying the heritage of Europe and their roots.
Dad is survived by our mother, Jane; two sons, Joseph A. (Christine) of South Bend and W. Dennis (Mary) of Wilmette, Ill.; a daughter, Carol (J. Anthony) Ernst of Granger; 10 grandchildren (six spouses); by and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24 in the St. Joseph Church, Mishawaka. Fr. Robert A. Yast, pastor of St. Joseph Church, where Joe was a member, and Fr. Anthony Puchenski will officiate. He will be buried in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23 in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
