ROCHESTER - Ida G. Layne, 88, of Rochester, died at 7:53 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at Life Care Center of Rochester.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Young of Rochester; five grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at noon Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Citizens Cemetery, Rochester.
Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
Emma M. Arnold
PLYMOUTH - Emma M. Arnold, 83, a former resident of LaPaz and the Shady Rest Home, died of natural causes at 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, 222 Parkview Drive, Plymouth.
Emma was born the daughter of Willard and Edith Mae Penny Evans in Tippecanoe, Ohio, on November 20, 1918. She attended Ohio schools.
On November 16, 1956, in LaPaz, Emma and Levi S. Arnold were married. Levi died on October 12, 1995.
She was a homemaker. Emma left no immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her spouse.
Visitation in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2001.
Emma’s funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church, will follow visitation at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

PLYMOUTH - Rose F. Campiti-Copeland, 94, of King Road, Plymouth, passed away at 8:47 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Miller’s Merry Manor, in Plymouth.
Rose was born Sept. 5, 1916, in Holsopple, Penn., to Sebastain and Concetta (Codispodi) Britz.
Rose and Frank J. Campiti were united in marriage in 1948. Frank passed away in 1962. In 1965 Rose and Paul Copeland were married. Paul then passed away in 2007. Rose had worked at the Corey Rubber Company, in Marion, Ohio, and then at Marion General Hospital, as a Physical Therapist.
Rose is survived by her son, Charles and (Connie Hodges) Campiti of Plymouth; her grandchildren, Anthony (Tonya) Campiti of Las Vegas, Nev. And Jason (Jacqueline) Campiti of Leesburg, Va.; her step-grandchildren: Laurie (James) Lloyd of North Liberty, David (Annette) Hodges of Plymouth, Kristina (Anthony) McPherron of Plymouth, Kathy (Lysle) Davidson of Plymouth, and Ronald Hodges of Plymouth; her great-grandchildren, John Campiti and Grace Campiti of Leesburg; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and her sisters: Josephine (Luther) Arthur of Marion, Ohio, Mary Fazara of Marion, Ohio, and Helen Ordway of Defiance, Ohio.
Rose was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Joe, Carmella, Mickey, Sammy, and Tony.

LaVon R. “Von” Balmer
LaVon R. “Von” Balmer, 85, 406 E. Jefferson St., Bourbon, died suddenly of natural causes on Monday, Dec. 3, 2001. Von, a Bourbon resident for the past nine years, formerly of the Cass Lake, Minn. area for 20 years, died in the Bremen Community Hospital at 11:50 a.m.
Von was born in Plymouth on May 21, 1916. He was the son of Peter Balmer, Jr., and Marie Reneas Balmer. He attended Plymouth schools.
A United States Army veteran, Von was proud to have been a part of the Iwo Jima Campaign during World War II, serving from July 1943 to December 1945. He was decorated with the Bronze Star and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
On March 23, 1953, in Plymouth, Von and Eloise J. Beam were married.
A registered watchmaker, he was the proprietor of L.R. Balmer Jewelry on W. LaPorte St., Plymouth, from 1947 to 1957. For the next 15 years he farmed, retiring in 1971.
A consummate fisherman, he loved the sport. He was also known as a “tinkerer” and handyman.
Von is survived by his wife, Eloise, of Bourbon, and by two sons and two daughters.
His sons are Larry W. and Marsha Balmer, Plymouth, and Walter “Dick” R. and Jill Balmer, Bremen. Daughters Yvonne E. Balmer and spouse, Jim Shirley, Bloomington, Ind. and Darla Kaye and Patrick Finnegan, Bemidji, Minn., survive, together with seven grandchildren, three great-great-granddaughters and a sister, Bertha Balmer, Plymouth.
Von was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruth Balmer, and two brothers: Walter and Richard Balmer.
Friends may visit with the family at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services by the Rev. John Hand, Von’s nephew, will follow visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home on Wednesday evening, Dec. 5, 2001. A second nephew, Denny Beam, will provide special music.
A graveside service with military honors, provided by VFW Post 1162 will be held at Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at 10 a.m.

ELKHART - Dale Dinkledine, 85, of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart.
He is survived by his son, Tom (Susan) Dinkledine of Russiaville; daughters, Nancy (Doug) Weber of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jill (Dennis) Hendrix of Elkhart; and seven grandchildren. KNOX - Emma Faith Hope Miller, newborn, died Jan. 5, 2011, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac. She is survived by her parents, Matthew and Angela (Mann) Miller; sisters: Kaitlyn Miller, Brooklynn Miller and Trinity Miller, all of Knox; maternal grandparents, David (Dawn) Mann of Plymouth and Debbie (John) McIntire of Plymouth; paternal grandparents Dr. Thomas and Laurie Miller, Plymouth; and great-grandmother, Opal Mann of Knox. Visitation will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. CULVER - Paula Sue Morris, 47, a Marshall County resident all of her life, died unexpectedly from natural causes at 7:08 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. The daughter of Guy and Jean Masterson Flosenzier, Paula was born Sept. 13, 1963, in Plymouth. A 1982 graduate of Plymouth High School, she had also attended Ancilla College. Paula married Michael Morris and they were blessed with a son, Richard Morris. Paula and Mike were later divorced. Mike preceded Paula in death Nov. 19, 2005. She worked for Hopple Excavating for several years as a bookkeeper. An animal lover, she enjoyed rescuing dogs and cats and giving them good homes. Paula also enjoyed Notre Dame Football, cooking, antiques and most of all family gatherings. Paula is survived by her son, Richard; her parents, Guy and Jean Flosenzier; her companion, George Hopple and his son, John of Culver; two brothers, Allen (Jamie) Flosenzier and Paul (Sherri) Flosenzier and two sisters, Debbie (Robert) Johnson and Kay Orangias, all of Plymouth; and five nephews and two nieces: David and Jimmy Flosenzier, Mike and Sarah Orangias, Stephen and Eric Johnson, and Lindsay Sauder. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Charles Orangias. Friends are invited to share memories with Paula’s family Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. KEWANNA - Martha Ann Cook, 83, of Kewanna, passed away at 9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth. Born Dec. 12, 1927 in Kewanna, she was the daughter of the late Guy Ernest and Jessie Bell (Lisey) Urbin. March 13, 1946 she married Kenneth H. Cook and he preceded her in death May 22, 2005. She was a 1945 Kewanna High School graduate. Martha had been the Head Cook at Union Twp. Schools, Clerk Treasurer for the Town of Kewanna, and she also formerly co-owned and operated Ken-Mar Suds Station and Ken-Mar Glass Shop. She was a member of the Kewanna United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Kewanna Order of Eastern Star, Fulton County Republican Women’s Association, Fenton Glass Club of Ohio and she had also served on the Union Township Library Board. Martha enjoyed camping and collecting antiques. Survivors include her children, Kent Cook and his wife Sheri of Kewanna, Kenan Kimble and her husband Jerry, of Bowling Green, Ky., Katrina Carlisle and her husband John, of Indianapolis, and Kip Cook and his wife Janece, of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by one brother, John Urbin; a sister, Clara Jane Kumler; one grandson, Bryce Carlisle; and one great-grandson, Isaiah Bitterling. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Kewanna United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Tiedeman officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the church. He is survived by a son, Richard (Kay) Method of Nappanee; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Eloise (Vern) Meeks of Nappanee; and twin sister, Bertha Parker of Nappanee.
