Florence L. Hunneshagen
January 6, 1911 - December 3, 2005
Florence L. Hunneshagen, 94, of the Monterey area, died December 3, 2005 at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver. She was married to Ralph L. Hunneshagen, who is deceased.
Mass of Christian Burial took place on Wednesday December 7, 2005 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Monterey, with Father Bert Woolson officiating. Burial took place in St. Anne Cemetery in Monterey. Bonine-Odom Funeral Home in Culver was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Anne's Maintenance Fund.

Betty Jane Simon
May 8, 1928 - November 28, 2005
Betty Jane Simon, 77, 624 E. 13th Street, Winamac, died November 28, 2005 at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac. She had been married to Julius Simon; he is deceased.
There will be no funeral services or visitation.
Frain Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Pulaski Health Care Center.
Margaret Louise Trainer
September 14, 1954 - December 3, 2005
Margaret Louise Trainer, 51, 312 Toner Street, Kewanna, died Dec. 3 at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago.
On Oct. 25, 1980 in Portage, she married Rex Raie Trainer Sr., he survives.
Funeral services will be held at Frain Mortuary in Winamac on Dec. 7, with Rev. Denny Wilson officiating. Burial will take place in the McKinley Memorial Garden. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Frain Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Ruth Elizabeth Girton
October 5, 1913 - December 1, 2005
Ruth Elizabeth Girton, 92, 505 Chief Sioux, St. Cloud, Fla., (formerly of Winamac and Buffalo) died Dec. 1 at Plantation Bay, St. Cloud, Fla. She was born Oct. 5, 1913 in Seafield to David and Mable (Bridge) Nordyke.
On June 12, 1931 in White County she married Francis Girton Sr., he died September 24, 1977.
Ruth was a member and past President of FOE Auxiliary in Winamac and the Buffalo Christian Church in Buffalo. She was a Homemaker and a retired production worker at the RCA Cabinet Company in Monticello. She was a former 4-H leader in Pulaski County. Ruth loved to play cards and cook for family and friends. She was an outgoing and friendly person who never met a stranger.
Survivors include: a daughter, Sylvia [Verlin] Shaffer of Culver, two sons, Francis [Dorothy] Girton Jr. of Cocoa, Fla. and Jerry R. [Patricia] of Hobart, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are: one brother Charles Nordyke of Burns Harbor, three sisters, Annabelle Bonnell of Winamac, Patricia Hunt of Monticello, and Ethel Nordyke of Dyer. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor Barker, three sisters Gertrude Rhyne, Wilma Burgess, and Naomi Bible, three brothers, Ralph Nordyke, David Nordyke and Harold Nordyke.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Buffalo Christian Church with Pastor Mark Deckard officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to VITAS Hospice Healthcare Corp. of Central Florida.
Henry Ludwig Matazat
February 9, 1914 - November 25, 2005
A celebration of life for Henry Ludwig Matazat of Culver was held on Friday, November 25, 2005 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Judson, with Pastor Gerald Hallman officiating.
Henry was born on February 9,1914 in Cook County, Ill., to Lithuanian immigrants Ferdinand and Helena (nee Redweik) Matzat. The family moved to the North Judson area in 1926 after violence broke out in their Chicago neighborhood. A close relative, Adolph Matzat read the ads in the newspaper and saw a farm for sale near North Judson. Adolph and Ferdinand took a train to North Judson to check out the farm. Ferdinand and Helena purchased it and brought their young family: Fred, Otto, Henry, Emma, Ewald, Harold and Ludwig. Henry, as well as the other family members, were active members of the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Judson. He also taught Sunday school classes for more than 20 years.
Henry married Olga Alma Redweik on July 27, 1951 and soon purchased a farm near Culver. They were blessed with five children: Debbie and Connie (both deceased in infancy), Kenneth [Sue Boesdorfer] of Pleasant Plains, Ill., John of Jeffersonville, and Bonnie [Ed] Raffel of Kewanna. They have five grandchildren: Hollee (Raffel) [Dave] Masterson of Talma, Ross Raffel of Kewanna, Adam Matzat of Pleasant Plains, Jennifer (Matzat) [Michael] Thompson of Virden, Ill., and Joshua Matzat of Fitzgerald, Ga.; and one great-granddaughter, Anna Marie Thompson of Virden, Ill.
Henry and Olga and family were members of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church of Winamac before they helped established and become charter members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Culver.
Other close relatives include Henry's brother-in-law and his wife, Robert John Redweik, Sr. and Millie (Gudas) of Kewanna and their families.
Henry passed away on November 22, 2005 in Plymouth Hospital. Interment was at the Highland Cemetery in North Judson.
Arrangements were handled by O'Donnell Funeral Home of North Judson.
Ray M. (Jamie) Jamieson
November 16, 1938 - December 11, 2005
Ray M. (Jamie) Jamieson, 67, 2766 North 175 East, Winamac died December 11, 2005 at his residence. He was born November 16, 1938 in Dyer, and was the son of Ray Edward and Gladys Annalee (Wylie) Jamieson.
On March 5, 1960 in Medaryville he married Charlotte J. Baker; she survives.
Mickey was retired from NIPSCO where he worked for 34 years as a lineman and gas man. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Winamac. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He was a frequent volunteer at the VFW fish fries and the 4th of July chicken fries in Winamac. He was an avid NASCAR and Indy Car racing fan. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt "The Intimidator." He enjoyed Schlitz beer, playing cards, and smoking Marlboros. His grandchildren were his life. You never found him without a picture of his grandchildren in his wallet. He was a friend to all, and everyone was welcome in his home.
Survivors, along with his wife, Charlotte, include two sons: James W. [Julie Ann] Jamieson of Winamac and Michael L. [Connie] Jamieson of Pulaski; two daughters: Roxanna L. [Gary W.] Cook and Laura L. [Larry E.] Stout, both of Winamac; eight grandchildren: Michael and Matthew Jamieson; Nicole, Jessica, Megan, and Emily Cook; and Claire Odelia and Tabitha Irene Stout. Also surviving are nine sisters: Nina Peregrine of Hebron, Lois Jamieson of Los Angeles, Maxine Spenner of LaPorte, Essie Garpow and Irene [John] Krausbeck, both of Valparaiso, Anita [Carl] Franz of Lafayette, Gladys Ellen [David] Griffin of Libertyville, Ill., Lucy Baker and Rachael Jamieson, both of Indianapolis; and a sister-in-law, Francine Jamieson of Knox. He was preceded in death by five brothers: William, Edward, Wilton, Robert, and James Jamieson.
Funeral services will be held on December 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Pastor Jon McDugle officiating. Burial will take place in the McKinley Memorial Gardens in Winamac. Visitation will be: Thursday 3-8 p.m. and Friday after 8 a.m. at the Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be given to the VFW in Winamac.
Ronald J. Smallfelt
April 9, 1916 - December 12, 2005
Ronald J. Smallfelt, 89, of Francesville, died Dec. 12, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home. He was born April 9, 1916 in Francesville to Fred and Lena M (Kaupke) Smallfelt.
On June 23, 1946 at St. John's Church in Medaryville, he married Lena A. Shedrow. She died July 18, 1994. Ronald was a retired farmer from the Medaryville area. He had served in the Army during World War II. He was a life member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where he had served as a Sunday School teacher. He also sang in the choir and served as a Deacon and other offices of the church. Ronald was a past president of the Medaryville Lions Club. His interested included antique tractors. He frequently entered his restored John Deere tractor in parades and shows. He was a tinkerer who enjoyed making and repairing things. He enjoyed traveling to historic points of interest, along with visiting state and national parks.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ronna Lee [Alan] Bleekman of Fort Wayne and LorRee Ann [H.Dale] Worsley of Jonesboro, Ark., three grandchildren, Loretta [Kerry] Easley of Copperas Cove, Texas, Ronald Worsley of Jonesboro, Ark., and Allison J. Bleekman of Fort Wayne. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren Steven Wessman and Katelyn Easley, both of Copperas Cove, Texas.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Witt and Thersa Kracht Tetzloff and two brothers, Cecil Smallfelt and Albert Smallfelt.
Funeral services will be held at: St. John's United Church of Christ in Medaryville on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Lynn Rosiejka officiating. Burial will take place in the St. John Cemetery in Medaryville.
Visitation will be: 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville and 1 hour prior to the services at the Church.
