Geraldine "Gerry" Tiede
August 29, 1912 - August 6, 2005
Geraldine "Gerry" Tiede, 92, of Francesville, died August 6, 2005 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. She was born August 29, 1912, in Rensselaer, and was the daughter of Bert and Eliza Clark Amsler.
On December 24, 1934 in Rensselaer she married Leslie Tiede; he preceded her in death on June 8, 1985.
Gerry was a homemaker and a member of Francesville Christian Church. She lived most of her life in Francesville. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She also lived to cook and entertain.
Survivors include a son, Michael [Pat] Tiede of Francesville; a daughter, Colleen [Terry] Waltersdorf of Grinnell, Iowa; four grandchildren: Scott [Tracy] Tiede of Francesville, Kelly [Eric] Denham of Waukegan, Ill., Jessica [Chad] Lovig of Huxley, Iowa, and Sarah [Brad] Moses of Ankeny, Iowa; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Querry-Ulbricht Funeral in Francesville on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 with Scott Tiede officiating. Burial took place at the Bowman White Post Cemetery in Francesville.
Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville was in charge of arrangements.
Rita A. Ford
March 2, 1918 - July 28, 2005
Rita A. Ford, 87, 316 Cadle Ave. Edgewater, Md. (formerly of Medaryville) died July 28, 2005 at Heritage Harbour, Annapolis, Md. She was born March 2, 1918 in Wayland, Ky. and was the daughter of Alex and Laura Shepherd Allen.
Rita was married to Clarence D. Ford on November 17, 1936, in Wayland, Ky. He died on September 17, 1981. Funeral services were held at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville on August 4, 2005, with Richard Lindborg officiating. Burial took place in the White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.
Claude E. "Bud" Stump
April 8, 1928 - August 7, 2005
Claude E. "Bud" Stump, 77, of 1320 E. 250 N., Winamac died August 7, 2005 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. He was born April 8, 1928 in Antioch, Ill., and was the son of Charles Everett and Dorothy Marie Insley Stump.
On April 27, 1946, in Boswell, he married Mildred E. "Midge" Hanner; she survives.
"Bud" grew up and attended schools in the Williamsport area, moving his family to Winamac in 1959. He was a 54 year member of the Boswell Masonic Lodge #468 F&AM and a 44 year member and Past Patron of the Tippecanoe Chapter #96 OES. He was also a member of the Newton County Low 12 Club. He was retired from the Sprint Telephone Company in 1991 after 42 years of service, where he was employed as a technician. He was also owner of B&S Radio Service from 1967-1994.
Surviving "Bud" along with his wife are two daughters: Helen [Jay] Chamness of Winamac, and Anita Dobson of Loogootee, Ind., one son, Mikel [Marilyn] Stump of Tampa Fla.; eleven grandchildren: Melissa [Scott] Brogdon of Winamac, Jeff [Jennifer] Chamness of Ellettsville, Shane Bonnell of Winamac, Harold Nichols, Ryan [Christy] Nichols, and Crystal Nicols, all of Tampa Fla., Tiffany Nichols of Washington D.C., Billy Dobson Jr. of Washington, Ind., and Brent, Alyssa, and Chantel Dobson, all of Loogootee, Ind.; eight great-grandchildren: Bethany and Ericka Brogdon of Winamac, Katelin and Kyle Chamness of Ellettsville, Breanna and Talia Nichols of Tampa, and Mitchell and Kaley Bonnell of Winamac. Also surviving is a sister, Lucille Merriman, Lake Village, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday August 11, 2005, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Rev. Glen Meyers officiating. Burial will take place in the McKinley Memorial Gardens in Winamac. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, and after 8 a.m. on Thursday at Frain Mortuary.
Masonic Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, immediately followed by an Order of Easter Star Service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulaski County Right for Life.
Paul C. Hopfinger
January 2, 1939 - August 13, 2005
Paul C. Hopfinger, 66, 801 N. Agnew Street, Winamac, died August 13, 2005 in Pulaski Memorial Hospital, in Winamac.
He was born January 2, 1939 in St. Louis, Mo., and was the son of Elmer and Louise Wright Hopfinger. On February 18, 1994 in Winamac, he married Lena Sue O'Harrow, who survives.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1561, Eagles #2580 and VFW Post #1728 all of Winamac. He was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a bingo captain. He was retired from GalFab Inc. in Winamac. He moved from East St. Louis, Ill. to Winamac in 1992 and was a Vietnam veteran serving 28 years in the army. He was retired from the Army National Guard in Logansport. He enjoyed bowling, working on cars, and riding motorcycles.
Survivors, along with his wife, are: a son, Edward Paul Hopfinger of Collinsville, Ill.; four daughters: Rosie [Dwain] Frazier, Alton, Ill.; Susan Scarborough, Mt. Vernon, Ill.; and Heather Ann Hopfinger and Laura Ann [Doug] Bird both of Collinsville, Ill. Also surviving are: two step-daughters: Betty Anderson of Aurora, Colo., and Robin [Steve] Schiller of Collinsville; three step sons: Gary Mays [Angie] Puckett, Jerry Pucket also of Collinsville, Troy Wayne [Donna] Puckett, Worden, Ill.
Paul is also survived by 11 grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; a brother Norman [Dorothy] Hopfinger of Calif.; an aunt Laura Hopfinger of Granite City, Ill.; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kay Gonstal of Morton, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Ricky Hopfinger.
Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac, on August 16, 2005, with Rev. John Hoying officiating. Burial took place in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Winamac. Frain Mortuary in Winamac was in charge of arrangements.
Alma R. Lemeron
December 7, 1930 - August 10, 2005
Alma R. Lemeron, 74, 5875 S. 600 W., Winamac, died August 10, 2005 at her residence. She was born December 7, 1930 in Winamac, and was the daughter of Lester John and Ruby Pearl Ross Goble. On September 2, 1950, in Monticello, she married Philip D. Lemeron, who survives.
Funeral services were held at the Frain Mortuary in Winamac on August 13, 2005, with Pastor Paul Reeder officiating. Burial took place in Paul's Chapel Cemetery in Winamac.

Kathryn Ingham
September 1, 1920 - August 9, 2005
Kathryn Ingham, 84, 585 Darlington Lane, Crystal Lake, Ill., died August 9, 2005 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, Ill. She was born September 1, 1920 in Winamac, and was the daughter of William and Barbara Holland Bridegroom.
On February 15, 1958 in Chicago, she married Albert W. Ingham, who survives. She was a homemaker. Survivors, along with her husband, include: a daughter Barbara [John] Majka, Algonquin, Ill.; and two grandchildren: Steven Majka and Denise Majka.
Graveside services were held August 12, 2005 at Reed Cemetery in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Frain Mortuary in Winamac was in charge of arrangements.
Dolly K. Taylor
August 14, 1915 - August 11, 2005
Dolly K. Taylor, 89, of Knox, died August 11, 2005 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Winamac. She was born August 14, 1915 in Knox and was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Elizabeth Spicer Byer. She had been a member of the Culver Eagles, North Bend Twp. Home Bureau, Center Twp. Homemakers Extension Club, and the Republican Women.
She is survived by two daughters: Donna Lawrence of Knox and Mary Ann Williamson of Cary, NC; a sister, June Martin of California; and a brother, Gordon "Sandy" Byer of Knox. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Joann Trigg and Darlene Coppens; a son, Ronald Taylor; and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday August 15, 2005 At the M. C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Burial took place in Bass Lake Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hickory Creek Residents' Fund in Winamac.
