Eugene "Fred" Rhoda Sr.
January 5, 1934 - March 28, 2006
Eugene "Fred" Rhoda Sr., 72, 515 East 13th Street, Winamac, died March 28 at Hickory Creek in Winamac. He was born Jan. 5, 1934 in Denham to Warren W. and Anna V. (Nitzschke) Rhoda.
Eugene graduated from North Judson High School in 1952. He was a member of the Denham Lutheran Church. He was retired from Ford Motor Co. He lived most of his life in Pulaski County. Eugene enjoyed fishing and cycling. He was an avid card player.
Survivors include: a daughter, Bonnie [Paul] Stalbaum of Valparaiso, three sons Larry Lee [Donna] Rhoda of Valparaiso, Michael Wayne [Suzette] Rhoda of Pacific, Mo., and Eugene F. [Jill] Rhoda Jr., of Knox, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, and a brother, Ward Rhoda.
Memorial services were held at Frain Mortuary on Thursday, March 30, with Rev. Daniel O'Connor officiating. Burial will take place at the Denham Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to: Hickory Creek Activities Department.

Arlene Marie Lizenby
June 7, 1923 - April 1, 2006
Arlene Marie Lizenby, 82, 101 Constitution Drive, Francesville, died April 1 at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso. She was born June 7, 1923 in Medaryville to Safer Sylvester and Marie (Shedrow) Selmer.
On Oct. 26, 1946 in Francesville, she married Rudolph Frank Lizenby. He died June 6, 1991.
Funeral services will be held at St John's United Church of Christ in Medaryville on Wednesday, April 5 at 11 a.m. CDT with Pastor Lynn Rosiejka officiating. Burial will take place in the St. John Cemetery in Medaryville.
Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to: St. John's United Church of Christ.

Della Marie Moon
October 1, 1933 - April 3, 2006
Della Marie Moon, 72, 1040 N. Links Road, Winamac, died April 3 at her residence. She was born Oct. 1, 1933 in Star City to Glenn and Esther L. (Boose) Wood Sr.
On Jan. 14, 1951 in Star City, she married Harry Phillip Moon, who died July 4, 2003.
Della was a member of the Star City United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. She was a retired buyer and manager for BJ's Clothing in Indianapolis. She was a former resident of Indianapolis for many years. She was an avid quilter and seamstress. She enjoyed traveling around the world and was a mother to many people.
She is survived by four sons, Aaron B. [Sharon] Moon of Star City, Joe E. [Deb] Moon of Winamac, Marshall P. Moon and partner Jerry Kostelnik of Indianapolis, and Carl R. [Vonda] Moon of York Pa., two daughters, Teresa M. Shaver of Kewanna and Sharon B. [Brad] Glasson of Logansport, 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a brother Glen Wood Jr. of Star City, a sister Martha Jane Karsten of St. Paul Minn., and a special companion, Jim Hauser of Winamac. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Esther Wood Sr., and her husband, Harry Phillip Moon.
Funeral services were held Friday April 7 at the Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Pastor Gary Lewis officiating. Burial took place in the Star City West Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Breast Cancer Research or the Star City Methodist Church. .

Marie C. Ready
May 17, 1947 - April 5, 2006
Marie C. Ready, of Francesville died April 5 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. She was born May 17, 1947 in East Chicago to Louis and Lillian (Smith) Langel.
On June 20, 1964 in Crown Point, she married Leslie Dale Ready, he survives.
No funeral services are scheduled. Memorial Contributions may be given to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Fund.

Virginia M. Widup
September 22, 1912 - April 4, 2006
Virginia M. Widup, 93, 609 North Market Street, Winamac, died April 4 at 9:15 a.m. at her residence. She was born Sept. 22, 1912 in Winamac to Robert and Ethel (Davis) Johnson.
In April of 1935 she married Harold "Bud" Widup. He died in October of 1981.
Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Winamac on Saturday, April 8, with Rev. Steve Fritchman and Rev. Glen Meyers officiating. Burial took place in the Winamac Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Stroke Foundation.

Violet Louise Marr
May 12, 1927 - April 1, 2006
Violet Louise Marr, 78, of Indianapolis, died April 1 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born May 12, 1927 in Indianapolis to Macy W. and Mary Margaret (Amos) Davis.
On April 30, 1946 in Indianapolis she married Edgar Marr Sr. He survives.
Violet was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis and a 1945 graduate of Decatur Central High School.
She was an ardent Democrat. She had served as Precinct Committee Person and Ward Chairman from Decatur Twp. and had received a personal invitation to the Inauguration of President Clinton. She had been a member and officer of Marion County Democrat Women's Club and was always helping with different fundraiser events. She was well known for her beautiful quilts, and loved the Log Cabin Designs. Being of Native American descent, she loved to make family recipes of Jam Cake and homemade buttermilk biscuits. As a child, she learned the importance of canning and raising chickens and helping with the family butchering during the Great Depression. She loved candle making. She had been an avid gardener. A sports enthusiast, she followed the Pacers, the Colts, IU sports and NASCAR activities faithfully.
She was employed several years in the Marion County Voter Registration, and retired from IUPUI Parking Garage Services after working there for several years.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday April 5 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, with Andrew Marshall officiating. Burial took place in West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.

Melvin Lee Collins
June 13, 1942 - April 9, 2006
Melvin Lee Collins, 63, 2948 N. 175 E., Winamac, died April 9, 2006 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. He was born June 13, 1942 in East Chicago, Ind. and was the son of Charles and Elizabeth (McBride) Collins.
On August 10, 1991 in Winamac he married Kiann L. Crews. She survives.
Melvin lived in Winamac the past 17 years coming from Portage. He was retired as a Supervisor at Inland Steel in East Chicago, where he worked for 30 years. He also worked at Tippecanoe River State Park in Winamac. He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed chatting on the computer.
Surviving along with his wife Kiann, are a son, Christopher Collins of Dallas, Ga.; five daughters: Tracy [Steve] Webber of Lawrenceville, Ga., Nikki Collins [Chris Spanier] of Logansport, and Brittany Collins, Jodie Collins and Mary Collins all of Winamac; two granddaughters: Stephanie Collins-Fikes and Casey Spanier both of Logansport; and a grandson Kyle Spanier also of Logansport. Also surviving is a brother, Richard [Alice] Collins of Hegewich, Ill. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth "Leah" Collins; and seven brothers: Dird, Dean, Kenny, Toby, John, Tom, and Jay Collins.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 14, 2006 at 1 p.m. CDT at the Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Pastor Carl Lendermon officiating. Burial will take place in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Winamac.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. CDT Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Frain Mortuary and after 8 a.m. CDT on Friday.
