Debra Marie Hopkins
April 29, 1957 - December 29, 2006
Debra Marie Hopkins, 49, 7194 N. US Hwy 421, San Pierre, died Dec. 29, at her residence. She was born April 29, 1957 in Valparaiso, and was the daughter of Hargis and Eliza Marie (Harris) Hopkins, Jr.
Debra lived most of her life in Francesville. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, collecting music boxes and listening to music while cleaning the house. Debra was formerly the Deli Manager at the IGA Store in Francesville. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with her companion Mary Wireman. She was a very strong willed woman and was willing to work hard to achieve her goals.
Debra is survived by a son, Ricky [Tanya] Crews of Scottshill, Tenn.; two daughters, Jeniffer Hinman of Rensselaer, and Kellie [Mike] Brower of LaOtto; four grandsons: Chase Manns of Rensselaer, Blake Crews, Zander Crews, and Robert Graves Jr., all of Scottshill, Tenn., and four granddaughters: Baylee Neira of Rensselaer,Christian Crews, Taylor Graves and Katherine Graves all of Scottshill, Tenn.; four brothers: Timothy [Sue] Hopkins of Kingman, Gregory [Michelle] Hopkins of Francesville, Anthony [Tina] Hopkins of Monon, and Darrell [Linda] Hopkins of Rochester; and her parents, Hargis and Eliza M. (Harris) Hopkins Jr., of Francesville.
Funeral services were held at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, with Pastor Dennis Gutwein officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
Charles T. "Tom" Floyd
July 22, 1946 - December 30, 2006
Charles T. "Tom" Floyd, 60, of Rochester (formerly of Winamac) passed away at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006 at his residence near Kewanna.
Mr. Floyd was born on July 22, 1946 in Logansport, Indiana. He was the son of the late Glenn R. and Marie (Wiseley) Floyd. On May 1, 2003 he married Tammy J. Hamilton. She survives.
He worked at Kewanna Metals in Kewanna, and was a member at Global Harvest Church in Monterey and the Christian Home Church in Rochester. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy J. Floyd of Rochester; sons Thomas William [Tina] Floyd, Robin A. Floyd, and Timothy J. [Tammy] Floyd; and a daughter, Viola Mae [Jeffrey] Henderson, all of Winamac; stepsons, Craig B. Jones of Logansport, and Glen Hamilton of Rochester, a sister, Patsy VanVoorst of Monon, father-in-law Lawrence A. Hamilton of Rochester, and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Karen Walters who he married Sept. 11, l969 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Monterey; she died in 1989. He was also preceded by his second wife Charlene L. Rearick Jones who he married at Ora on Aug.19, 1990; she died Sept. 1, 2002. He was also preceded by two brothers. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at Global Harvest Church, 8 miles north of Winamac on U.S. Highway 35 with Pastor Billy Bope officiating. Burial followed in the St. Peters Catholic Cemetery, Winamac.

Mary Ann (Perry) McClellan Skowron
January 23, 1930 - October 28, 2006
Mary Ann Perry McClellan Skowron, 76, of Clarksville, Tenn., died Saturday Oct. 28 at Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.
She was born Jan. 23, 1930 in Mishawaka, the daughter of Oliver Houston and Vera Della (Circle) Perry.
Mary Ann was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and a member of F.O.E. Eagles # 2580, Family And Community Educators (F.C.E.), Hilltoppers Senior Citizen Center, and the Goldwing Road Riders, all of Clarksville.
Survivors include: her husband Joe Skowron of Clarksville, two daughters, Patricia Ann Anglin, of Nortonville Ky., and Connie Almira Wartson of Crestview, Fla., a step-daughter, Cathy Vernon of Dickson, Tenn., a brother David L. Perry of Sierra Vista, Ariz., a sister Della McWherter of Royal Center, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver Houston Perry Jr., and Walter H. Perry.
Following cremation a memorial service was held in Clarksville, Tenn.
A memorial service for family and friends of this area will be held in McKinley Memorial Gardens on May 19, 2007, where her remains will be buried.
David F. Warren
April 7, 1929 - December 31, 2006
David F. Warren, 77, 916 N. Monticello St., Winamac, died December 31, at his residence. He was born April 7, 1929 in Rensselaer, and was the son of Floyd Owen and Nora A. (Smith) Warren.
On March 8, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Medaryville, he married Roberta M. Kirkwood. She survives. They have been married for 53 years.
Dave was a former employee of Pulaski Tractor Sales, Galbreath, Inc. and was retired from the Pulaski County Highway Department in 1999. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Winamac. Dave was also a member of the Winamac Masonic Lodge F&AM #262 where he was a Past Master of the Lodge. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star #96 and the Winamac Rotary Club. Dave was a retired volunteer firefighter for the Winamac Volunteer Fire Department. He was with the department for 29 years. He formerly served in the Indiana National Guard. He loved his family and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in his yard. He liked to tinker with his old Ford tractor and his 1940 Chevy.
David is survived by his wife, Roberta M. Warren of Winamac; two daughters, Sandy Capper of Greenwood, and Pam [Jack] Burger of Winamac; two granddaughters, Karen [Matt] Steuer of Indianapolis and Karla [Justin] Rausch of Noblesville; a grandson, Christopher Capper of Bloomington, a great-grandson, Jackson Steuer and a great-granddaughter Amelia Steuer both of Indianapolis; two sisters, Nola [Ken] Schneidt of Wolcott, and Berneice Jackson of Rensselaer; and two brothers Dennis Warren of Monticello and Dean Warren of Columbia City, Ind. David is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Owen and Nora A. (Smith) Warren; a daughter, Janice Warren;and a sister, Vera Warren.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Funeral services will be held at the Frain Mortuary on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. CST with the Rev. Glen Meyers officiating. Burial will take place in the Winamac Cemetery.
A Masonic Service will be held at 6 p.m. CST on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to: First Christian Church Building Fund or Pulaski Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Jerome J. Croell
January 6, 1948- -January 2, 2007
Jerome J. Croell of 2455 W. 900 S, Star City, died Jan. 2, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. He was born January 6, 1948 in Gary, the son of William and Helen (Eich) Croell.
On January 22, 1971 in Merrillville, he married Carol L. Book. She survives.
Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski. He served in the US Air Force during Vietnam. He was also a member of the Patriot Guard riders, Goldwing Riders Association, and the National Rifle Association. Jerry was an avid trike rider, hunter, fisherman and an all around handyman.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol L. Croell, and a daughter Krysten [Rick] Hinkle both of Star City and a sister Mary Anne [Ruben] Vargas of Merrillville. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen (Eich) Croell and three brothers, Otto Croell, Joseph Croell, and Henry Croell.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski on Friday, Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. C.S.T, with Father Ron Schmil officiating. Burial will take place in the Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. C.S.T., on Thursday, Jan. 4, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
The Patriot Guard will participate in the funeral services.
Memorial Contributions may be given to the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
Mr. James R. Reed
Mr. James R. Reed, 82, 8820 S. 125 E., Knox, IN., died December 31, at his residence.
Arrangements are pending at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
May Alene Shidler
May 6, 1917 - January 4, 2007
May Alene Shidler, 89, 317 East 13th Street, Winamac, died Jan. 4 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was born May 6, 1917 in Winamac and was the daughter of Chris and Irinda (Farrar) Linback.
On September 4, 1937 in Winamac, she married Thomas Shidler Jr. He died July 1, 1962.
May attended the First Christian Church in Francesville. She was Past President of the VFW Auxillary #1728 and was a lifetime member of the VFW National Home in Michigan. May was a life member of FOE #2580 in Winamac. She was recognized as an Outstanding Woman of Pulaski County in 2005. May enjoyed quilting, gardening and playing cards. She enjoyed spending with her family. She was formerly a home care assistant for many Winamac area residents.
May is survived by five daughters: Iris [Chuck] Simonin of Winamac, Deloris Morgan of Monticello, Maxine "Mick" Smith of Winamac, Patricia "Trish" [Mark] Dahlenburg of Lafayette, and Lorinda "Lou" [Ed] Grauel of Calimesa, Calif.; six sons: Oren [Maria] Shidler of Knox, Dennis "Butch" [Judy] Shidler of Royal Center, Garry [Elaine] Shidler of Rochester, Fred [Ann] Shidler of Monticello, Frank [Carla] Shidler of Star City and Jake [Karen] Shidler of Logansport; 37 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Clara Linback of Indianapolis, Alma [Bob] Ewing of Francesville and Alice Shreves of Union Mills; a brother, Melvin "Bud" [Dorothy] Linback of Lafayette; two daughter-in-laws: Rosemary Meadows of Middletown, Ohio and Pauline Shidler of Star City.
May is preceded in death by her parents Chris and Irinda (Farrar) Linback; two sons: Thomas "Duke"Shidler III and Ronald Shidler, a granddaughter Jackie Shidler, two son-in-laws, Bob Smith and Larry Morgan, five brothers: Clifford, Walter, Edgar, Harry, and Henry Linback; and three sisters: Hazel Martin, Edna Shidler and Jean Roeschlein.
Funeral services were held at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, on Tuesday, Jan. 9, with Pastor James Ketchen officiating. Burial took place in the Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.
Memorial contributions may be given to Pulaski Memorial Hospice or to the American Heart Association.
