Robert E. "Jake" Bischoff
November 2, 1937 - August 22, 2005
Robert E. "Jake" Bischoff, 67, 3170 W. 300 N., Winamac, died at his residence on August 22, 2005. He was born on November 2, 1937 in Winamac and was the son of Marie A. Bischoff.
Jake was a farmer and member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac. He was an organizing member of the Northern Indiana Power from the Past. He was also a supporter of the Pulaski County Historical Society and a member of Moose Lodge #2513 in Winamac. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Catholic Church on August 25, 2005, with Rev. John Hoying officiating. Burial took place in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
Frain Mortuary in Winamac was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Pulaski County Food Pantry.

Mary Calabrese
April 29, 1925 - August 25, 2005
Mary Calabrese, 80, 1486 N. U.S. 35, Winamac, died at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. She was born April 29, 1925 in Royalton, Ky., and was the daughter of R.B. and Betty (Stevenson) Hale.
On July 15, 1956 in Pineville, Ky., she married Joseph G. Calabrese Sr., he died on July 24, 1995.
Mary was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Ladies of Charity and the Christian Mothers in Winamac. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxillary of Pulaski Memorial Hospital.
Mary loved to cook, play cards (Liverpool Rummy) and play checkers. She enjoyed watching old black and white movies. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by four sons: Rocco [Ellena] Calabrese, Joseph [Jeanene] Calabrese, Paul [Lera] Mayer all of Winamac and Danny [Deb] Mayer of Hebron; two daughters: Bobby Calabrese of Winamac and Vivian [Duke] Matthews of Exmore, Va.
Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, along with two sisters, Faye Back of Knox and Elma Brewer of Winamac, four brothers, Don [Jackie] Hale of Winamac, R.B.Hale Jr. and Billie Hale both of North Judson and Arnold Hale in Missouri.
Mary was preceded in death by: two sons, Chuck Mayer and Jerry Wayne Hale, three brothers Myrle Hale, James Hale and J.P. Hale.
Funeral services were held, Aug. 29 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac, with the Rev. John Hoying officiating. Burial took place in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Winamac.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Frain Mortuary in Winamac was in charge of arrangements.

Theodore J. Fox
June 22, 1927 - August 21, 2005
Theodore J. Fox, 78, 9121 Suter Rd., Plymouth, died Sunday August 21, 2005 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.
Funeral services were held August 25, 2005 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Plymouth with Rev. Fathers William Kummer and Thomas Fox officiating. Burial took place in the New Oakhill Cemetery in Plymouth.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home in Plymouth was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial gifts in Ted's name may be made to the American Cancer Association or to St. Michael's Catholic Church in Plymouth.

Mildred Louise Sanders
July 8, 1929 - September 4, 2005
Mildred Louise Sanders, 76, 4644 S.1700 W., Francesville, died September 4, 2005 at her residence. She was born July 8, 1929 in Hartford City, Ind., and was the daughter of William and Lucy E. Trosper Lovall.
Her first marriage was to Lex Hankins on October 7, 1944 in Covington, Ind. He died July 4, 1950. She then married Eldon Sanders Sr. on May 29, 1954 in Winamac. He died November 1, 1996. She was a member of the Assembly of God church in Medaryville. She lived most of her life in Medaryville. She and her family formerly owned and operated the IGA Grocery Store, the Spot Tavern, and the Redwood Inn in Medaryville.
She was the founder of the American Legion Post #96 Auxilliary in Medaryville. She enjoyed cooking and being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed catering for her friends. She was a former representative for Avon, Stanley, and Mason Shoes. She also enjoyed meeting her friends at the coffee shop every day and enjoyed gardening and canning.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Ann [John] Nail of Oakwood, Ill.; three sons: Larry D. [Robin] Sanders of Francesville, and Eldon D. Sanders Jr. and Jim Sanders, both of Medaryville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters: Mary Jane Meyers of Clinton, Betty Hutts of Gatesville, Texas, Doris [Kenneth] Ashby of Tilton, Ill., and Lucy Mae [Donald] Bailey; and two brothers: Leo Loveall and Herbert [Marvis] Loveall, both of Tangier, Ind. She was preceded in death by a sister, June Lamb, and a brother ,Joseph Loveall.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville, with Pastor Tom Dewlen officiating. Burial took place in the White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.

Ella Frances Bortell
September 2, 1919 - September 2, 2005
Ella Frances Bortell, 86, 7815 S. 400 E., Knox, died September 2, 2005 at her residence. She was born September 2, 1919 in Winamac. She was the daughter of Alvin and Ada Frances Doyle Zellers. On September 21, 1941, in Winamac , she married Wayne A. Bortell.
Frances was a homemaker and enjoyed square dancing, gardening, reading and genealogy. She was a member of Tri-Chi Social Sorority. Frances loved cats and making ceramics. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandson. She was a 1937 graduate of Winamac High School. She had worked in sales at Millers Department Store in Winamac for several years.
Frances is survived by her husband Wayne; a daughter Julie [Ewell] Smith of Lafayette, La.; two sons: Terry [Mary] Bortell and Jeffrey Scot [Shawny] Bortell, both of Knox; and a grandson, Zachary Bortell. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ada May; two brothers: Robert Zellers and Gene Zellers; a son, Michael Bortell; and a grandson, Terrence Bortell.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Rev. Glen Meyers will officiate. Burial will take place in the Winamac Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Hospice.

Gladys E. Garbas
September 5, 1919 - August 30, 2005
Gladys E. Garbas, 85, 342 E. Galbreath Dr., Winamac, died Aug. 30 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. She was born on Sept. 5, 1919 in Joliet, Ill. to Roy and Maude Durkee Frye.
In 1946 in Joliet, Ill. she married John Garbas, he died in 1975. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: three daughters, Carol of Pinellas Park Fla., Rosanne of Walkerton, and Janice of Hamlet. Two sons, John Garbas of Winamac and Dennis Garbas of Knox, also surviving are 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by three sons, Jimmy Frankie, Jerry Frankie and Ronald Frankie, also two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Sept. 2 at Frain Mortuary. Burial took place at the Bass Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Heart Association, or the charity of donor's choice.

Mary Lucille Rosenberg
August 29, 1912 - September 6, 2005
Mary Lucille Rosenberg, 93, 7625 Ortega Bluff Court, Jacksonville, Fla., died September 6, 2005 at Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville. She was born August 29, 1912 in Monon, and was the daughter of John H. and Lucille Mary Englert.
On November 1, 1935 in Winamac she married Theodore Alexander Rosenberg; he died on November 1, 1986.
Mrs. Rosenberg was the cutting room manager at the Medaryville Garmet Factory for many years. She was the past president of the White Post Home Economics Club. She was a former Grand Marshall of the Medaryville Potato Festival. She enjoyed doing needlepoint and raising flowers. She was a good friend and neighbor to the residents of Medaryville for nearly 70 years.
Survivors include: a daughter, Doris [Randall] Brase of Jacksonville; a son Louis [Patricia] Rosenberg of Honolulu, Hawaii; seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters: Martha Englert and Frances Kathryn Griffin, both of Flint Mich., Elizabeth Peterson of McFarland, Wis., and Isabelle Gick of Terre Haute. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday September 14, 2005 at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville with Pastor Kevin DeKoninck officiating. Burial took place in the White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Medaryville Potato Festival Committee.
