Harry Kreiling Barco
The brother of a Chesterton resident, Retired Air Force Col. Harry Kreiling Barco died Friday, July 26, 2002 at Hope Hospice Center, Ft. Meyers Florida. He was 78.
He was born July 29, 1923.
He is survived by his wife, Leota Barco; a daughter, Sandra Lee Lovins of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Robert Leslie Barco, of Oregon; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Carlson, of Chesterton.
No visitation and no funeral are scheduled.
Donations may be sent to the Hospice Center of the donors choice.
George R. Wroblewski
George R. Wroblewski, of Jackson Twp., died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at his home. He was 76.
He was born April 22, 1926 in Michigan City, the son of Frank and Anastasia (Levendowski) Wroblewski, who preceded him in death.
On September 3, 1949 at St. Mary Church in Otis, he married Dorothy Hroma, who survives.
He is also survived by five children, George (Valerie) Wroblewski, of Jackson Twp., Janet (Dan) Shebel of Michigan City, Karen (Dave) Kelley of Jackson Twp., Jim Wroblewski of Jackson Twp and Jerry Wroblewski of Otis; six grandchildren, Cindy Shebel, Sheri Brackeen, both of Michigan City, Shawn and Kelly Wroblewski, and Shane and Bryan Kelley, all of Jackson Twp; a great grandchild, Jesse Unger, of Jackson Twp. and a brother, Felix Wroblewski, of Michigan City.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Frank and Robert Wroblewski and three sisters, Gertrude Petrowski, Magdeline Wroblewski and Helen Herod.
He was a punch press operator for 30 years at Dwyer Instruments, Michigan City. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Otis, where he served as a maintenance man. He was Veteran of W.W. II having served in the U.S. Army and having been awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of Skwiat American Legion Post 451, Michigan City, D.A.V. Post 23 Michigan City, 132nd Infantry Regiment W.W. II Assoc. and St. Joseph Young Mens Club, Michigan City.
A Mass of Christian Burial, Rev. Joseph Pusateri officiating, is scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Otis, Ind.
The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. Monday and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St. A memorial service by Skwiat American Legion Post 451 is scheduled at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Wake service to be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Porter County Visiting Nurse Association, or to the charity of the donors choice.
Terrence L. Dooley
Terrence L. Dooley, of Crystal Lake, Ill., died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington, Ill. He was 65.
He was born July 14, 1937 in Milwaukee, the son of Lawrence and Mabel Dooley, who preceded him in death.
In 1959 in Milwaukee he married Donna Giese, who survives in Crystal Lake.
He is also survived by five children, Daniel (Patricia) Dooley of Crystal Lake, Jeffrey Dooley of Johnsburg, Ill., Christine (Thomas) Tymorek of Chesterton, Patrick Dooley of Huntley, Ill. and Michael Dooley of Crystal Lake; 10 grandchildren, Megan, Sean, Ryan, Riley, Denise, Sarah and Amanda Dooley, Katie, Megan and Andrew Tymorek. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
A funeral mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Rt. 176 and Oak St., Crystal Lake. Interment will be at Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jeremy A. Fletcher
MM1 (SW) Jeremy A. Fletcher, of Valparaiso, stationed at Norfolk Naval Base died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 in Norfolk, Va. as a result of an accident. He was 30.
He was born May 9, 1972 in Valparaiso the son of Richard E. and Patti Fletcher, of Portage.
On March 11, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Stephanie (Hayes) of Valparaiso, who survives.
He is also survived by three children, Cary (age 9), Aidan (age 6), Joshua (age 3) all at home; a brother, Thomas E. Fletcher of Valparaiso; paternal grandmother, Pearl J. Fletcher of Carrier Mills, Ill.; mother-in-law, Susan Richardson, of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother-in-law, Ryan Richardson, of Las Vegas; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a large extended family of friends.
He was employed as a nuclear machinist-mate in the U.S. Navy. He was a 1990 graduate of Union Twp. High School and after graduation joined the U.S. Navy.
Funeral services, Pastor Guenther Fritsch officiating, are scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 17 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Full military rites will follow the service at McCool Cemetery, Portage.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Friday at White-Love Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to an educational fund for his children.
Hilda J. Biggs
Hilda J. Biggs, of Michigan City, Ind., died August 14, 2002 at Michigan City Lifecare Center, Michigan City. She was 97.
She was born October 3, 1904 in Michigan City, the daughter of Louis and Ida (Deutcher) Frehse, who preceded her in death.
On September 10, 1930 she married Harvey R. Biggs, who preceded her in death October 3, 1999.
She is survived by two sons, Roland H. (Sue) Biggs and Robert L. (Gail) Biggs, both of Michigan City; three granddaughters, Brenda S. Biggs, of Michigan City, Angela Biggs and Amy G. Biggs, both of Indianapolis, Ind., three grandsons, Timothy Biggs, or Redondo Beach, Calif., Jeffery (Amy) Biggs, D.D.S., of Indianapolis and Brian H. (Leslie) Biggs, of Michigan City and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Louis Frehse and two sisters, Dorothy Binsz and Elsie Couch.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. John United Church of Christ, St. John United Church of Christ Women’s Guild, Coolspring Twp. Farmers Institute, Coolspring Twp. Farm Bureau and Coolspring Twp. Project Club.
Funeral services, Rev. Victoria Smith officiating, are scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. till time of service at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

Roy E. Rhoda
Roy E. Rhoda, of Liberty Twp., died Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso. He was 82.
He was born April 19, 1920 in Liberty Twp. the son of Thomas and Edith Grace (Biggs) Rhoda, who preceded him in death.
On November 20, 1948 in Liberty Twp. he married Lenora Lantz, who survives in Liberty Twp.
He is also survived by two sons, Thomas H. Rhoda of Valparaiso and Robert B. (Vicki) Rhoda of Chesterton and two grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Rhoda of Chesterton.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Edna May Rhoda.
He was a life long resident and was self-employed as a farmer and was employed as a school bus driver for the Duneland School Corporation. He attended Liberty Bible Church. He was a long-time member and served for many years as the president from Liberty Twp. for the Porter County Farm Bureau. He was an advisor for Porter County Rural Youth. He was a member of various bowling leagues in Chesterton and Valparaiso for over 35 years and also called square dancing for many years.
Funeral services, Pastor Ken Long officiating, are scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m., Sunday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Ramona Cooke Gatewood
Ramona Cooke Gatewood, of Dune Acres, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 at her home. She was 78.
She was born April 15, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of Bennett W. and Lyda (Dalzell) Cooke, who preceded her in death.
In 1948 in Chicago she married Emmett H. Gatewood, who preceded her in death August 22, 1978.
She is survived by a son, Andrew (Dawn) Gatewood, of Chesterton; a daughter, Lyda C. Gatewood, of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren, Clayton Gatewood, Jared Bonomo and Sumer Kabelis; great grandchildren, Karley Fink, Erica and Dustin Kabelis.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bennett W. Cooke II and Peter Cooke.
She was a resident since 1950 and was a home maker. She was a member of Chesterton First United Methodist Church. She attended University Baptist Church while wintering in Baton Rouge with her daughter. She was one of the founding members of the Association of Artists and Craftsmen of Porter County; a member of Beta Gamma Epsilon sorority and a long time advocate for Alcoholics Anonymous. She was instrumental in starting the Moraine House in Valparaiso.
Funeral services, Rev. Terry Rhine officiating, are scheduled at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 at First United Methodist Church, 434 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway.
