Barbara E. Kenderdine
Barbara E. Kenderdine, Missionary to Cambodia, formerly of Chesterton, died Thursday, January 10, 2002 as the result of an accident. She was 38.
She was born June 24, 1963 in Bristol, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Ronald and Marie Schulz, who survive in Bensalem, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor John T. Kenderdine, of Cambodia; three children, Deborah, Joshua and Kaleb Kenderdine, all of Cambodia; a brother, Steven Schulz, of Bensalem, Pa.; several uncles, nieces and nephews; parents-in-law, Malcolm and Rose Kenderdine, of Lancaster, Pa.
She and her husband have served as Missionaries to Cambodia for three years.
Funeral services, Pastor Roger E. Voegtlin officiating, are scheduled at 3 p.m. Friday at Fairhaven Independent Baptist Church, Chesterton. Additional services are scheduled Monday in Bensalem, Pa. with interment at Sunset Memorial Park, Somerton, Pa.
No visitation is scheduled.
Memorials may be made to Fairhaven Baptist College Scholarship Fund.

Carl M. Wagner
Carl M. Wagner, longtime Porter resident, died Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at his home. He was 87.
He was born July 26, 1914 in Chicago, the son of Martin L. and Veronica (Tibaut) Wagner, who preceded him in death.
On January 20, 1945 in Cardale, Pa., he married Helen Federovitch, who survives in Porter.
He is also survived by three sons, Marty (Anita) Wagner of Valparaiso; Tony Wagner of Treasure Island, Fla.; Joe (Roni) Wagner of Chesterton; three daughters, Rose Aaron of Chesterton, Kathy (Bill) Gucciardo of Chesterton and Julie (Jim) Petrites of Porter; a brother Joseph (Dolores) Wagner of Snohomish, Wash.; two sisters, Mary (Bill) Peeler of Leesburg, Fla., Dorothy Swanson of Chesterton; eight grandchildren, Jerry (Brenda) Aaron, Mike Gucciardo, Jennifer Wagner, Adam Wagner, Cyrus Wagner, Sydney Wagner, Whitney Wagner and Jenna Wagner; nieces, nephews, special caregiver Amy Haines, long time special neighbor, friend and swinging partner Doris and special friend Liz.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Carl “Sonny” Wagner (wife Viola Wagner survives in Chesterton); a brother, Stephen Wagner; two sisters, Elizabeth Wucsko and Mary Veronica Wagner.
He was a life long resident and member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He entered the service Aug. 22, 1942 and was Honorably Discharged from the Army on Jan. 11, 1946, he received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal WWII and served in Canada for about two years. He worked for the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Company (EJ&E), The Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway Co., The New York Central Railroad Co. He retired from the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Co. on June 27, 1975. He repaired freight cars and was a switchman. He attended grade school at St. Patrick in Chesterton and graduated from Chesterton High School in 1933. He was a member of American Legion Post #170, Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #2511, Chesterton Moose Lodge #1625. He enjoyed 26 years of retirement. A man of faith, he loved his wife, his family and his country. A hard worker, he never gave up and will especially be remembered for his smile, gentle spirit, great sense of humor and for being a big flirt.
Funeral services, Father Gerald Schweitzer officiating, are scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, with services by V.F.W. and American Legion, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Mary S. Fenoglio
Mary S. Fenoglio, of Chesterton, died Sunday, January 6, 2002 at V.N.A. Mary E. Bartz Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 90.
She was born March 12, 1911 in Czechoslovakia the daughter of Andrew and Barbara (Hornak) Soroka, who preceded her in death.
On October 25, 1962 at St. Patrick Church in Chesterton, she married Domenic L. Fenoglio, who survives.
She is also survived by a brother, Andrew Soroka of Hobart; a brother-in-law, John Sabin Sr. of Hibbing, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Sandra (George) Murphy, Andrew Martin Soroka, John Sabin and George Sabin.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sabin.
She was an area resident since 1962. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial, Father James Meade officiating, is scheduled at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m., with Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

C. Jean Moore
Former Chesterton resident and well known bowler, C. Jean Moore died Sunday, January 20, 2002 in Tennessee. She was 63.
She was born May 21, 1938 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. and married D. Ray Moore in 1955.
She is survived by children, Pam (Kelley) Borgh, Kim (Ron) Prichard, Marty (Kim) Moore, Tom (Lynanne) Moore, Chris Moore (fiance Robin and son Bill Ogle), Robert (Stacey) Moore; grandchildren, Megan DeGroff, Clayton and Delany Prichard, Taylor, Angie, Nick, Ashley and Dalton Moore, Allyson, Tommy and Andrew Moore and Zane Moore.

Dorothy Elizabeth Wilson Lamb
Dorothy Elizabeth Wilson Lamb, of Charlotte, N.C., died Saturday, January 19, 2002 at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake Park, N.C. She was 77.
She was born April 5, 1924 in Gary, Ind., the daughter of William and Ella (Brown) Wilson, who preceded her in death.
On July 24, 1943 she married Gordon Franklin Lamb, who preceded her in death August 25, 1969.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane (Bob) Sell of Charlotte, N.C., Donna (John) Naughton of Mill Creek, Ind. and Nancy (Joe) Adams of Westville; two brothers, David Wilson of Crown Point and John Wilson of Portage; a sister, Eleanor Lambert of Ala.; nine grandchildren, David and Michael Lowden, Craig, Brian and Jason Adams, Launa and Kristine Sell, Cassie and Lisa Lamb; one great grandchild, Alexis.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Gordon Charles Lamb.
She lived in Charlotte, N.C. for six years. She was a retired sales clerk employed by South Haven Pharmacy.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel. Interment will be at McCool Cemetery in Portage.

Raymond Allen Vitoux
Raymond Allen Vitoux, of Chesterton, died Monday, January 14, 2002 at his residence. He was 65.
He was born October 18, 1936 in Union, Ill., the son of August and Sylvia (Finch) Vitoux, who preceded him in death.
On November 19, 1960 in Chesterton, he married Lillian Sue Collins, who survives.
He is also survived by two sons, John Vitoux of Chesterton and Danny (Kris) Vitoux of Porter; two brothers, Howard (Kay) Vitoux of Valparaiso and Virgil (Bonnie) Vitoux of Valparaiso; five sisters, Helen Lundington of Valparaiso, Viola Nelson of Dwight, Ill., Thelma Landgrebe of Valparaiso, Dorothy Nelson of Ill. and Loreane Fauser of Columbus, Wis.; many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Chic (wife Edna survives), Bud (wife Fern survives) and Bob (wife Edith survives).
He was a life long resident where he was owner/operator of Ray’s Auto Body Repair. He was a member of Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623 and the Moose Bowling League. He also was a member of Briar Leaf Golf Club. He served in the United States Marine Corps.
Funeral services, Rev. Nancy Kahaian officiating, are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services at Heritage Crematory, Portage.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until time of service at 7:30 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
O. Wade Susdorf
O. Wade Susdorf, of Portage, died Monday, January 21, 2002 at VNA Mary Bartz Hospice in Valparaiso. He was 90.
He was born April 4, 1911 in Burr Oak, Ind., the son of Francis and Mary (Sickman) Susdorf, who preceded him in death.
On October 24, 1934 in Union Twp. he married Evelyn Foreman who survives in Portage.
He is also survived by a son, Lowell (Jo Lynn) Susdorf of Chesterton; a daughter, Judith (Richard) Herzog of Valparaiso; six grandchildren, Lynne (Mike) Davis, of Rowlett, Texas, Michael (Pam) Herzog of Union Twp., Matthew (Pam) Herzog of Valparaiso, Mitchell (Becki) Herzog of Wanatah, Thomas Herzog, of the U.S. Army stationed in Georgia, Steven Herzog of Chesterton; nine great grandchildren and other loving family and friends.
He was also preceded by three brothers, Roy Susdorf, Dale Susdorf, Joe Susdorf; two sisters, Goldie Grimes and Catherine Stewart, niece, Irene Horan and son-in-law, Richard Herzog.
He was a longtime Portage and Union Twp resident for over 41 years involved in farming.
Funeral services, Rev. Roy Zerbe officiating, are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 6540 Central Ave., Portage. Interment will be at McCool Cemetery, Portage.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Rd., Portage.
