Edward S. Jeselnick
Edward S. Jeselnick, 81, the father of a local resident, James Jeselnick, died Thursday, April 5, 2001 in St. Mary’s, Pa.
He was born July 5, 1919 in Clermont, Pa., the son of the late Gregory and Louise (Kuketz) Jeselnic, immigrants from Austria.
On September 1, 1946, in Sacred Heart Church, he married Yolanda Boland, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mary Jo (James) Ford Jr., of Newport, Pa., Anne (Christopher) Wildfire, of Pittsburgh, Julie Jeselnick, of Harrisburg, Dona (Paul) Lewis, of Mechanicsburg; eight sons, James (Mary Kay) of Chesterton, John (Barbara), of Naperville, Ill., Thomas, of Pittsburgh, Father Stephen Jeselnick, of Baltimore, Andrew, of Pittsburgh, Paul, of Denver, Co., Mark, of Pittsburgh, and Gregory (Angela) of Camp Hill; sixteen grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, May Auman, Rose Jeselnick and Ann Sherry; five brothers, Francis, Gregory, Adolph, Robert and John Jeselnick.
Jeselnick attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Central High School, class of 1939. Enlisting in the Navy, he was commissioned to the U.S.S. Calamores and served on the ship until the end of WWII. He was discharged with the rank of Water Tender, first class. He retired from Airco Speer in 1981, after 47 years of service as a machinist, first class. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Golden Grads and a lifetime member of the VFW and American legion.
A Mass of Christian Burial, was celebrated Saturday in Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Stephen Jeselnick, his son, as celebrant. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Full military rites were accorded by the St. Mary’s Servicemen’s Burial Detail.

Harwood E. Weimer
Harwood E. Weimer, 85, died Friday, April 6, 2001 at Porter Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1916 in Churches Ferry, N.D.
He is survived by wife, Viola (Walter) Weimer and daughter, Nancy Weimer of Valparaiso; two brothers, John (Helen) Weimer, of Valparaiso, Elton (Joan) Weimer of Logansport; two sisters, Hazel (Floyd) Peterson of Willcox, Ariz., and Luella Nickels of Forest Hill, Calif.; numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera and two sons, Neil and Brian, in 1958; seven brothers, Archie, Les, George, Byrl, Herb, Donald, Ralph and a sister, Lorraine.
Weimer moved to Indiana in 1939 and was a charter member of Liberty Bible Church, past chairman of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and retired from Urschel Laboratories.
Funeral services, Rev. Ken Long officiating, is scheduled at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Liberty Bible Church. Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m., Tuesday at Bartholomew Funeral Home.

Stanley Melton Rayborn
Stanley Melton Rayborn, of Chesterton, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso. He was 69.
He was born February 9, 1932 in Humbolt, Kansas, the son of the late Olin Maple Rayborn and Mabel M. (Gardner) Rayborn who survives in Chesterton.
He is also survived by four sisters, Norma Cunningham, of Liberal, Kan., Lois (Ray) Marks, of Ocean Springs, Mich., Doris (Steve) Stevenson, of Prattville, Ala., and Judy Burden, of Portage; a brother, Dewey Ernest Rayborn, of Chesterton; and several nieces and nephews.
Stanley, a resident since 1950, was a shipping clerk at LTV Steel Company. He served in WWII as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Portage Church of God.
Funeral services are scheduled at 7 p.m., Thursday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Cremation will take place at Heritage Crematory and Interment of ashes at the Calvary Cemetery in Portage at a later date.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Portage.
Evangeline C. Jones
Chesterton resident Evangeline C. Jones, 96, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Valparaiso.
She was born Nov. 2, 1904, in Chesterton, the daughter of George Ross and Catherine (Bonnifield) Williams, who preceded her in death.
On Oct. 31, 1924, in Logansport, Ind., she married Chester A. Jones, who on Oct. 17, 1991, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister, Edith K. Faires of Detroit, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton.
Funeral services, Pastor Terry Rhine officiating, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 434 S. Second St. in Chesterton. She will be interred at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in Chesterton.
Theresa Nackovic
Chesterton resident Theresa Nackovic, nee Hirschbeck, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus in Merrillville. She was 85.
She was born Aug. 29, 1915, and was preceded in death by her husband, Dusan.
She was the mother of Maria (Werner) Moderhack, Olga (Valentin) Bartell, Simon (Janet) Nackovic, Michael (Rita) Nackovic, Donna (Robert) Escobedo, the late Andrew (Sandy) Nackovic, Peter (Susan) Nackovic, and Vera () Won; the grandmother of 17, including Vera and David Nackovic; and the great-grandmother of Danny.
She was interred Monday in Illinois.
She was a resident of Chesterton for five years and was known as the little German woman who would attend morning mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church with her very tall son.
Margaret Hoburg
Porter resident Margaret Hoburg, 94, died Tuesday, April 4, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 30, 1906, in West Deer Township, Pa., the daughter of Louis and Kathryne (Sauer) Schnitzer, who preceded her in death.
On Nov. 17, 1928, in West Deer Township, she married Ralph W. Hoburg, who in 1985 preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine M. Long of Porter; four grandchildren, L. Stephen (wife Julie) Long of St. Louis, Mo., Margaret (husband Joseph) Welage of Greenfield, Ind., Joseph Long of Margate, Fla., and Phillip Long of Chesterton; and three great-grandchildren, Christine, Michelle, and Gregory Welage.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Schnitzer; and a sister, Martha Schnitzer.
Margaret, an area resident for 12 years, was a homemaker. She was a member of the East Union Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at East Union Presbyterian Church. No local service or visitation has been scheduled. She will be interred at East Union Cemetery in West Deer Township.
Arrangements were conducted by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton.

Audrey Wood
Dune Acres resident Audrey Wood, 90, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at her residence.
She was born April 14, 1910, in Bluffton, Ind., the daughter of Fred and Winetta (Brown) Kain, who preceded her in death.
On Nov. 29, 1933, in Bluffton, she married John Wood, who preceded her in death.
She is survived of a daughter, Joan Rearick, with whom she had lived the last three years; a sister, Martha Morris of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren, Jeff (wife Gabriele) Rearick of Fort Collins, Colo., and Tom (wife Susan) Rearick of Bloomington, Ind.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Max Kain.
She was a secretary and homemaker.
Graveside services will be held in Michigan on Friday. No visitation is scheduled.
