Margaret L. Trimmel
Margaret L. Trimmel "Grandma Marge," age 81, of Hammond, IN, died on Thursday, October 31, 2002. Mrs. Trimmel was born in East Chicago, IN, the daughter of the late James and Sophie (nee Szur) Evion. She is survived by four daughters: Margaret (Mark) Scott of St. Paul, MN, Patricia (Phillip) Zaborowski of Highland, IN, Janet (David) Keck of Hammond, IN and Susan (Bob) Zuver of Hammond, IN; one son: John (Marilyn) Trimmel of Hobart, IN; 10 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; two sisters: Mary Moore of Rensselaer, IN and Ethel Taylor of Highland, IN; one brother: John (Anna Mae) Evion of Merrillville, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. in the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN, with Rev. Anne Smith officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Mrs. Trimmel was formerly employed by Inland Steel and I.C.A.R.
Anna D. Williams
Anna D. Williams, age 85, of Hemet, California, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2002. A long time Valparaiso resident, she had also lived in Lake Havasu City, AZ, prior to moving to Hemet in 1990. She was a member of Inman Valley Baptist Fellowship in Hemet. Anna was born on April 5, 1917 in Kouts to Rudolf and Aline (Heiniger) Germann. On September 22, 1935 in Westville she married Raymond E. Williams, who survives, along with four children, Rosalie (Glenn) Munsch of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Carolyn (Sonny) Tomlinson of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, John (Cheryl) Williams of Canyon Lake, CA and Susan (Ron) Zulich of Valparaiso; two brothers, Daniel Germann of San Pierre and Henry Germann of Cameron, MO; one sister, Edna Moser of Columbia, MO; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Maria.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 4, 2002 at 12:00 Noon at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. Tom Troxel will officiate with burial at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in LaCrosse. Visitation Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of the service. Memorials may be made to New Tribes Missionary or Wycliffe Missionary Fund.
Evelyn A. Zweig
Evelyn A. Zweig, age 97, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 in Paxton, IL. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Zweig of Elgin, IL; two grandsons: Brian (Amy) Zweig of Elgin, IL and Brett (Kathy) Zweig of Fox Lake, IL. Preceded in death by her husband Arthur in 1985, sons, Douglas in 1992 and Bruce in 1994, her sister, Geraldine Bell and her brother, Russell Henrikson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 4, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. directly at the First United Methodist Church, 6635 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN, with Pastor Byron Kaiser officiating. Interment, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. There will be no hours of visitation.
Evelyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hammond and was a graduate of Columbia School of Music. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Chapel, Hammond, IN.
David A. Kearby
David A. Kearby, age 50, of Portage, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2002. He was born, September 27, 1952, in Gary, the son of Raymond and Betty (Line) Kearby. He was employed as a mechanic class 3 for the Indiana Toll Road, Portage, Plaza. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Hobart. He is survived by his best friend and former wife, Ann Kearby, two sons, David A. Kearby of Indianapolis and Bryan J. Kearby of Lake Station; his parents, Ray and Betty Kearby of Portage; one brother, Bill Kearby of Birmingham, Alabama; two sisters, Beth (Bill) Trella of Portage and Jana Gurgon of Arizona; one granddaughter, Allyiah of Lake Station; two step-daughters, Camille Kearby of Merrillville and Tasha (Bruce) Sawochka of Portage. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother, Scott Kearly.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m., with a funeral service at 8:30 p.m., at the Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana, 46368. Memorials may be made to the family. Interment in a private graveside service will be at the Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
Robert S. Kerr
Robert S. Kerr of Blue Island, IL, Veteran of WW II, served in the Pacific on the USS California and the Illinois National Guard, at rest October 29, 2002.
Beloved husband of Eileen Mazurek-Kerr (nee) DeCoster; loving father of Kenneth, Stanley, Conrad and Pamela Kerr, Steve, John, Ronald, David, Michael Mazurek, Sharon Love, Karen Mazurek, Maryann Mauratic and the late Diane Selby. Proud grandfather and great-grandfather to many. Dear son of the late Stanley and Madeleine Kerr.
Past Commander of Paul Gall American Legion Post 303 and member of VFW Post 8141, Calumet City, IL. Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion 40/8 IL 1241.

John Litavec
John Litavec, 87, Whiting, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at the Walnut Creek Nursing Center, Hammond. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary (nee Rimarcik); four children, Mel (Vicky) Litavec of Schererville, Millie (Michael) Kobe of Munster, Richard (Sandy) Litavec of Hammond, Marianne (Paul) Boland of Atlanta, GA; ten grandchildren; brother, Paul Litavec of Slovakia.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2002, 9:30 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St. Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev, John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S. officiating. Interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the parish will offer prayers at the funeral home on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
John Litavac was born on January 3, 1915 in Sandlick, WV, to Joseph and Susan (Janova) Litavec and was a resident of Whiting since 1949. He was a retired butcher, and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, where he served as an usher for many years.
