William A. Downing "Bill"
William A. "Bill" Downing, age 64, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2002. Survivors are wife, Carol, of 40 years; two sons, Bill (Karen) Downing of Lake Village and Mike (Toni) Downing of Merrillville; one daughter, Theresa (John) Canham of Highland; five grandchildren, Billy, Amy, Megan, Nicholas and Piper; one brother, Jackie (Sylvia) Downing of Lowell; and one sister, Sylvia (Bob) Wray of St. John.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, 2002, at 11:30 A.M. at the Kuiper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Greer officiating. Burial, Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville. Friends may meet with the family Thursday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, (2 blocks South of Ridge Road), Highland, Indiana.
Mr. Downing attended the Lynwood Baptist Church. He was employed with Pyramid Metallizing of Michigan City and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mary A. Dudzik (nee Swierc) October 28, 2002. Late of Hegewisch. Formerly of the East Side, Whiting, IN and Port Richey, FL. Beloved wife of the late Frank Dudzik. Loving mother of Adele (Carl) Marco, Eileen (Larry) O'Brien, and Mary (Dr. Terrence) Wiak. Fond Grandmother of Anthony Marco, Suzanne (Henry) Beliveau, Andrew Marco, Scott, Melissa and Kristin Wiak. Great-grandmother of Carly Beliveau. Dear sister of Anne (late Michael) Seasock, Walter Swierc, Genevieve Swierc, late Sophie (late Pete) Odinsoff, late John (Mary) Swierc, and late Helen Swierc.
Member of Polish Women's Alliance of America, Whiting American Legion, League of Mother Mary Theresa Dudzik and DAV Auxiliary.

Betty J. Edstrom
Betty J. Edstrom, age 82, of Hobart, passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 30, 2002. Betty and her husband Ed worked the Odell-Smith Jewelry business together. Through the years they enjoyed dining in the company of good friends in many restaurants. Betty was preceded in death by her son, Dean "Butch" Edstrom. Survived by her husband, Ed Edstrom of Hobart; one daughter: Iris (Jack) Jensen of Montana three grandchildren: Chris (Kristin) Pedersen of Alaska, Bill Pedersen of California and Dawn (Albert) Dunn of Alaska; and numous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burns Funeral Home (Hobart) (corner of Rt 51 and 7th Street) on Saturday from 3:00 to 6:30 P.M. There will be a Eulogy conducted by Joe Pisione on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 6:30 P.M. Services will terminate at the Burns Funeral Home. According to Betty's wishes, interment services on Monday at Graceland Cemetery will be private.
Ronald W. Forsythe
Ronald W. Forsythe, age 63, of Benton Kentucy, formerly of Earl Park and Northwest Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2002 at his home. Survived by his wife, Patricia. Sons: Kenny (Suzie) Bergman, Ronald (Shannon Snyder) Forsythe, Scott and Ricky Forsythe. Daughters: Tammy Forsythe, Lori (Chad) Krick and Rebecca (Richard) Mack. Stepson: David Garrett. Stepdaughters: Lori Tykol and Mary Bower. 21 grandchildren; brother, Edward (Linda) Forsythe and sister: Deborah (Bill) McNamara. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Nell Forsythe and by his sister, Barb Knudson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 12:00 Noon, at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with John P. Starr officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, November 2nd, from 10:00am until the time of service, at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave. (one mile south of Rt 30), Schererville, IN.
Mr. Forsythe worked as a laborer with Local 41 for 10 years, and he worked for the Boilermakers Local 374 for 20 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
Raul G. Gonzalez
Raul G. Gonzalez, 69, of Chicago, IL passed away Tuesday, October 29, at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, IL. Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his wife of 50 years, Piedad; one brother, Ramerro of TX; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2002, at 9 A.M. at Iglesia Bautista de Calvario, at 4401 Olcott Avenue, East Chicago, with Pastor Domingo Pina officiating. Burial to follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Schererville. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home, Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN on Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M.
Mr. Gonzalez retired in1973 from Wisconsin Steel after 20 years if service as a scarfer. He was a member of Iglesia Bautista de Calvario Church and former member of the First Baptist Church of Hammond.
Charlotte M. Frankowski (Kriston) (Kolisz)
Charlotte M. Frankowski (Kriston/Kolisz), age 90, of Plymouth, IN, formerly of Hammond, went home to Our Lord Jesus Christ on October 29, 2002. She is survived by four children, Edward (Helen) Kolisz of Hammond, Virginia (Charles) Smith of Plymouth, Emily (Louis) Kolbus and Ronald (Eileen) Kolisz of Hammond; step-daughter, Janice Kolisz of Munster; 23 grandchildren: David Kolisz, Michael Kolisz, Karen Owens, Donna Kolisz, Edward Kolisz, Jr., Kathleen McClelland, Dennis Smith, Charles M. Smith, Charlene McClelland, Darrin Smith, Laura Humbert, James Kolbus, Jeffry Kolbus, Christine Bilse, Jean Hartzog, Gregory Kolisz, Tamara Hall, Paul Kolisz, Eric Kolisz, Jennifer Kolisz, Amy Slaven, Ricky Kolisz, and Shelly Kolisz; 38 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Moskal, Harvey, IL, Josephine Ryktarczyk, San Mateo, CA; brother, Joseph Ryktarczyk of Harvey, IL; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husbands, Walter Kolisz, Edward Kriston and Frank Frankowki; parents, Joseph
and Mary Ryktarczyk; brother, Stanley Ryktarczyk; and grandson, Nick Kolisz
Charlotte was member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Plymouth. She was a loving and devoted Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother and Great-grandmother and was deeply cherished by her family and many friends. Her great capacity to love was enhanced by her never-ending ability to laugh and truly enjoy life. May she rest eternally in God's loving arms.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 10:10 a.m. at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland, IN with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, Highland, with Rev. William Allen Gregorash
William Allen Gregorash, age 41 of Goodland, IN, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at Home Hospital, Lafayette, IN. Born in Gary, Indiana on June 16, 1961, the son of Robert and Marylyn J. (Whobrey) Gregorash who survive in DeMotte, IN; On August 4, 1984 in Rensselaer he married Denise (Sutton) Gregorash. Survived by his wife, Denise; son, Stephen Chambers of Wheatfield, IN; daughters, Renee and Kaitlyn Gregorash, at home; brothers: Joe Gregorash of Brook, IN, Mike (Katie) Gregorash of Kentland, IN, Jerry (Chris) Gregorash of Remington, IN and Scott Gregorash of Elkhart, IN; sister, Dawn Hall of DeMotte; many nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Dave and Darlene Sutton of Rensselaer, IN.
Friends may call at Jackson Funeral Chapel, 250 N. McKinley Ave., Rensselaer, Indiana on Friday, November 1st, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. (CST). Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2002 from the funeral home with Pastor Keith Kincaid of the Frist Christian Church, officiating. Interment, Goodland Cemetery. Memorials contributions may be made to the family by procuring the proper envelope at the Jackson Funeral Chapel.
Bill had been a resident of Goodland for six years, also having lived in Ft. Wayne, IN, Kansas and Germany. He was a 1979 graduate of North Newton High School. Currently he was the Technical Director for the Rensselaer Central School Corporation and had been the Cisco class teacher at Rensselaer. He was formerly employed at Roeing Corporation in Lafayette. Bill was a 9 year veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Goodland Lion's Club and a member of the First Christian Church in Rensselaer.
