Carol Ann C. Gauck, 75
Carol Ann C. Gauck, 75, Batesville, died Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville.
Born Feb. 14, 1928 in Batesville, she was the daughter of Stanley and Stella (Grieshop) Hoene. She married Arnold A. "Mandy" Gauck June 28, 1952 at St. Louis Church, Batesville, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1996.
A operator for the Batesville Telephone Company and clerk at Danners Dime Store before retirement, she was a member of the Knights of St. John Auxiliary and St. Louis Ladies Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne M. Mehlon and Lynne A. Wonning, both of Batesville; three sons, Steven G. and Mark A. Gauck, both of Batesville, and Wayne G. Gauck of Indianapolis; two sisters, Marian Mollaun of Batesville and Jean Hortemiller of Pewaukee, Wis.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jaclyn Hoene and Elvira Shaw.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Batesville, with the Rev. Daniel Mahan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville, with Rosary service at 5 p.m.

Mary C. Gasper, 95
Mary C. Gasper, 95, North Vernon, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at her home.
Born Feb. 18, 1908 in Jennings County, she was the daughter of Frank and Lula (Hill) Walters. She married Herbert W. Gasper Oct. 2, 1928 and he preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1998.
A homemaker and member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and cooking.
She is survived by three daughters, Frances Richart of Seymour, Agnes Bloemer of North Vernon and Theresa Phares of Fountaintown; two sons, Bernard and Leo Gasper, both of North Vernon; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Lawrence, Clarence and Albert Walters, a sister, Florence Lay, and two grandchildren.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ryan McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Vance-Fisher-Sawyer Funeral Chapel with Rosary service at 8 p.m.

Ethel Lammerding, 95
Ethel Lammerding, 95, Greensburg, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg.
Born Aug. 29, 1907 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of John and Mary Alexander. She married Joseph Lammerding Jan. 26, 1929 in Greensburg and he preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1907.
She was a bookkeeper at Lammerding Plumbing and Heating for more than 30 years, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by a nephew, Charles Alexander of Shelbyville; a niece, Edna Fightmaster of Greensburg; a great-nephew; and two great-nieces.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Charles and Lewis Alexander, and two sisters, Mary Teiman of Lillie Goldschmidt.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service.

Sister Ann Manderscheidt, OSF
Sister Ann Manderscheidt, OSF, 70, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the Sisters of St. Francis Convent.
Born July 7, 1932 in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Messinger) Manderscheidt.
She entered the convent Sept. 7, 1952, and made final vows Aug. 12, 1958. She was a former teacher and librarian at eight Ohio schools and four Indiana schools, including St. Marys, Aurora. She served at Tender Mercies, Cincinnati, from 1985 to 1992 and was a bereavement counselor at Niehard Funeral Home, Cincinnati, in 1992. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1997.
She is survived by two sisters, Fran Dooley of Cincinnati, and Betty Smith of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the Sisters of St. Francis Motherhouse Chapel. Funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Raymar Middendorf officiating. Burial is in St. Francis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Convent. Arrangements were by Weigel Funeral Home.
Elmer Earl Richards, 93
Elmer Earl Richards, 93, Greensburg, died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at the home of his daughter in Greenwood.
Born March 5, 1906, in Rushville, he was the son of Clarence and Lana (Roby) Richards. He married Marie Vivian Allen on July 31, 1947, in Indianapolis, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 1978.
He lived most of his life in Decatur County. He retired in 1972 from Bohn Aluminum in Greensburg after 19 years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Aerie Baptist Church at Letts for over 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant with the Army Air Force.
He is survived by one son, Norman Richards of Columbus; one daughter, Rita Richards of Greenwood; three sisters, Nora Walters of Toledo, Ohio, Zula Randolph of Findley, Ohio, and Ellen Maxey of Indianapolis; and two brothers, Don Richards and Marvin Richards, both of Indianapolis.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Fern Fultz and Mavis Knotts; and three brothers, Robert Richards, Carl Richards, and Roy Richards.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bass and Gasper Funeral Home in Westport, with the Revs. Ken Tingley and Robert Welling officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Aerie Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Hospice at Greenwood through the funeral home.
Dale E. Owens, 68
Dale E. Owens, 68, Greensburg, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1931, in Greensburg, he was the son of Clifford C. and Bertie H. (Heavern) Owens. He married Judy (Gindling) Owens on June 27, 1959, and she survives.
He was a self-employed interior decorator. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club. He was a former board member at September Place. He was a current board member of the Greensburg Housing Authority. He graduated from Greensburg High School. He was active in the Democratic Party.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Tony Owens of Greensburg; one daughter, Lisa (Mrs. Rick) Chambers of Greensburg; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Owens.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Kelley officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.

Herbert Gene Fritz, 66
Herbert Gene Fritz, 66, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, August 15, 1999 at Vencor Indianapolis South Hospital in Greenwood.
Born Feb. 20, 1933 in Shelby County, he was the son of Henry R. and Bessie E. (Howery) Fritz. He married Eleanor “Joan” Garnier on Aug. 30, 1952, and she survives.
He grew up in Rush County, but spent most of his life in Shelby County. He worked at Bohn in Rushville, Tokheim, Gen Pro, KT Corporation, and Overhead Door Corporation in Shelbyville. He was an avid sportsman, member of the board for men’s and women’s softball leagues, played in and coached for softball leagues in Shelbyville and Indianapolis. He graduated from Milroy High School in 1951. He was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David “Gene” Fritz and William Dale Fritz, both of Shelbyville; a daughter, Melinda Sosbe of Dunreith; two brothers, Chester R. Fritz of Shirley, and Clarence E. Fritz of Shelbyville; one sister, Mrs. David (Esther) Ramer of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home in Shelbyville, with the Rev. James Horner officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
