Raphael Ash, 71, RR 2, Loogootee, died at 7:30 am today at the Regina Home in Evansville. Cause of death was reported as a lingering illness. Mr. Ash, who was never married, was born in Daviess County, the son of the late James R. and Sarah A. Spalding Ash. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Ella Bullock, Vincent and Christopher Ash all of RR 2, Loogootee. A funeral Mass will be offered Saturday at 9 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Barr Twp, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home in Loogootee after 7:00 this evening. Rosary services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 7:30 pm.

Mrs. Theresa E. Ash, 65, Loogootee Rte. 2, died at 10:30 am Monday in Daviess County Hospital. She was seriously ill for four weeks, but death was unexpected. Mrs. Ash was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barr Township, the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. She was born October 4, 1904 in Daviess County, a daughter of George W. and Susan M. (Wade) Norris. On April 26, 1927 she married James C. Ash, who survives. In addition to her husband she leaves one sister, Mrs. Joe (Viola) Cropp, Loogootee; two brothers, Paul T. Norris, Odon, and J. Austin Norris, Montgomery. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 am at St. Mary's Church in Barr Township with burial in St. Mary's cemetery. Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, Loogootee. The Rosary was prayed at 7:30 pm Wednesday. followed by the Legion of Mary services at 7:45 pm.

ASH, John Vincent, 77, Loogootee Rte. 2, died at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes at 12 AM today. He had been ill for three weeks and seriously ill for only a few hours.
Mr. Ash was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barr Township and the American Legion Post 120, Loogootee.
Born January 19, 1895, in Daviess County, he was the son of James R. and Sarah (Spalding) Ash. His wife, Mary Theresa Gootee Ash, died in January 1971.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Francis (Ernestine) Hunter, Mrs. Joseph (Marjorie) Arvin and Mrs. Frank (Alice) Matthews, all of Loogootee rural route, and Mrs. Murel (Mary) Seal of Montgomery; four sons, James, John, Joseph and Jerry all of Loogootee rural route; 37 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Chris of Loogootee Rte. 2.
Funeral rites will be held at 10:00 am Monday at St. Mary's Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Titzer Funeral Home after noon Sunday. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Sunday.

Mary Margaret Ash, 58, 302 NE 2nd St, Loogootee, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 9 at 1:25 am at the Bloomington Hospital.
She was born September 13, 1927 in Daviess County to Charles Roy and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Smith Holland, both deceased.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters, Paula Osborne, Mrs. Mike (Debra) Kirk, Donna S. Kidwell, all of Loogootee; one son, Charles V. Ash, Loogootee; one sister, Rita Ash, Loogootee; three brothers, Dean Holland, Demont, IN; Carol Holland and Chris Holland, both of Loogootee and twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 11, at 10:00 am at St. John's Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2:00 pm Thursday at the Titzer Funeral Home in Loogootee. A Parish Rosary will be at 7:00 pm Thursday evening.

Miss Mary Ash Taken By Death
Miss Mary Elizabeth Ash, age 72 years, single, died at her home on Rte. 2, Loogootee at 11:35 pm Tuesday December 18, 1951. Miss Ash had been ill for only a few days.
The deceased was born in Daviess County on October 18, 1879 the daughter of James and Sarah Spalding Ash. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Barr Township, Daviess Co, and member of the Altar Society of the parish.
She is survived by the two brothers, Silas Ash and Raphael Ash, which whom she lived; a sister, Mrs. Ella Bullock, and two brothers, Chris Ash and Vincent Ash, all of Loogootee. One brother, Thomas has passed away.
Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home in Loogootee. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Thursday evening.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church, Friday, and interment in the church cemetery.

Thomas K. Ash died at the home of his brother Silas Ash in Van Buren Township, Daviess County, three miles north-west of St. Mary's at 10 o'clock Monday forenoon, at the age of 50 years, 3 months and 1 day.
The deceased was born (20 Jul 1885) in Van Buren township, a son of James R. and Sarah Spalding Ash. He was never married.
The deceased had been a sufferer of a complication of ailments for about three years and had been serious for the past ten days. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church from where the funeral service was held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas Borders died at her home three miles northeast of Loogootee, near the Strawn school house, on the 13th instant, after a brief illness of pneumonia. Deceased leaves a husband, daughter, sons, mother, brothers and sisters with whom many other friends and relatives join sincerely mourning the great loss. Mrs. Borders was of a most lively, cheerful disposition and will be sadly missed in the broken home circle and among former neighbors and associates. Interment St. Mary's Saturday forenoon after Mass.
NOTE: Her maiden name was Mary Williams.
