E. Arabella "Arbie" Flory
March 18, 1922 - April 11, 2001
Lifetime Plymouth resident, Arabella "Arbie" Flory, 79, living at 701 W. Garro St., Plymouth, for the past 61 years, died of natural causes at 8:56 a.m., on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks.
Arabella was born in Plymouth, the daughter of Earl and Ethel Hossler Gottschalk, on March 18, 1922. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1941 and six months later, on Dec. 8, 1941, in Plymouth, she and Harold E. Flory were married. Harold died on July 12, 1999.
Arabella worked many years as a clerk for Harvey's Dimestore and Harvey Mart until retiring in 1991.
Family was very important to Arabella and she enjoyed her grandchildren's presence very much. A flower gardener, she was an expert seamstress who enjoyed sewing clothing. She and her husband were Sunday evening racing fans and loved following stock car races at the Plymouth Raceway and throughout the area.
A lifetime member of the First United Church of Christ, Arabella was very much involved in volunteer work at the church, in the Ladies Guild and the Excelsior Sunday School Class.
Arabella is survived by two sons and their families: Larry L. and Lonnie Flory and their children, Michael A. and Angel Flory, all of Warsaw, and Terry L. and Diana Flory, Plymouth, and children Scott A. and Lori Hammel, Argos and Jana R. Wiseman, Plymouth.
Six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Arabella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-seven years, two sisters, Mary Louise Gridley and Corinne I. Sherer, and an infant brother.
Friends will be welcomed to visit with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Funeral services at the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St., Plymouth, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2001. The Rev. David Moffett-Moore, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Alice E. Martin
July 6, 1929 - April 12, 2001
PLYMOUTH, IND. - Described by her family as "Little, but mighty", Alice E. Martin, 71, who has bravely fought cancer since 1989, died at her residence, 8225 King Road, Plymouth, on Thursday, April 12, 2001. Alice died at 3:40 a.m., in the devoted and loving care of her family and the Marshall County Hospice.
A Marshall County resident since 1949, coming from Washington, Ind., Alice and her family has resided on King Road the past 33 years.
Born the daughter of Earl P. and Cecelia B. Gootee Walker on July 6, 1929, in Washington, Ind., Alice attended Epsom and Alfordsville, Ind., schools, graduating in 1947.
On April 17, 1948, in St. Patrick's Church in Corning, Ind., Alice and Charles D. Martin were married.
A busy, energetic person with a great sense of humor, she had worked as a Sears sales clerk and as a cashier at Gas America. She was also a librarian at Lincoln Jr. High school, retiring in 1985.
Her grandchildren were all very dear to Alice. She especially enjoyed taking walks with them. She made it a point to be present for almost all of their activities. Alice was fond of needlepoint work and collected handmade quilts.
Alice enjoyed traveling, she and her husband visited Germany twice and spent many winters in Texas.
An excellent golfer, she enjoyed playing the game with her husband and family, many times outranking them all. She was the Northern Indiana Director of The Golf Card for Seniors. At Plymouth Rock she was the A Flight Champion known for her long drives and was a popular choice in scramble play.
A member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Alice was past-president and a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Harvest House. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Plymouth Lodge 1355 and the NIPSCO Golf League.
Alice and her husband, Charles, would have celebrated their 53rd anniversary on Tuesday, April 17th. Charles survives her death together with their four sons and two daughters.
The surviving families are: Richard D. and Sherri Martin and children, Shannda, Chad and Jessica, all of Plymouth,
Charles E. and Cathy Martin and their daughters, Pamela, Erica and Sarah, of Lakeville, Clifford L. Martin and his daughter, Heather, of Port St. Lucie, Florida. William J. and JoAnn Martin and children, Alex and Lauren, all of Bourbon, Mary Anne and Steve Hepler and sons, Nicholas and Anthony Levechio, all of Bourbon, and Susan K. and William Allen and their sons, Cord and Jace, all of Plymouth. Alice was also able to enjoy her great-granddaughter, Taylor Saxon.
Two brothers, Harold and his wife, Louise Walker, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Ambrose and Mary Ruth Walker, Washington, Ind., and a sister, Mary and Harold Seal of Cannelburg, Ind., several nieces and nephews also survive.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, one brother LeRoy Walker and a sister Carol Walker.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, April 14, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A Rosary Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2001, at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 625 N. Center St., Plymouth. Father Anthony Gillespie, pastor of St. Michael's will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Plymouth.

D. Keith Dillingham
November 17, 1915 - April 13, 2001
D. Keith Dillingham, 85, residing on Webster Ave., died at 1:34 a.m., on Friday, April 13, 2001, in Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Keith was born Nov. 17, 1915 in Bourbon to Bert and Addie Fretz Dillingham. He was a longtime resident of the Bourbon community, moving to Plymouth in 1987.
On February 27, 1938, Keith and Norma Neidlinger were married in South Bend.
Keith was a 1933 graduate of Bourbon High School, and was very active in the Bourbon community for many years. He owned Dillingham's Grocery for 30 years, was a past member and officer of the Bourbon Lion's club, a charter member and past president of the Diamond K. Kiwanis club, and past president of the Bourbon Chamber of Commerce. Keith was instrumental in starting the Bourbon Youth Center, which was located on the second floor of the Fire Station.
Keith was a Master Mason and past Master of Bourbon Masonic Lodge #227, a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of South Bend, and the Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne.
Norma, Keith's wife of 63 years, survives, along with two sons, Tim Dillingham of Carmel, IN and Lew and Lonnie Dillingham of Germantown, TN. Two granddaughters, Rebecca and Jack Waldron of Noblesville, IN and Leslie Dillingham of Germantown, TN, a grandson, Brad Dillingham of Indianapolis, IN, a step-grandson, Michael Fant of Cordova, TN, and a great-grandson, John Timothy Waldron also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Stephan Keith Dillingham; a granddaughter, Beth Ann Dillingham; a brother, Robert W. Dillingham; one half-brother and three half-sisters.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2001, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and one hour prior to services in the church on Tuesday.
Services, officiated by the Rev. Larry Houseman, will be Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at 2:00 p.m., in the First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, where Keith was a member.
Burial will follow in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Emma M. Arnold
November 20, 1918 - April 17, 2001
PLYMOUTH - Emma M. Arnold, 83, a former resident of LaPaz and the Shady Rest Home, died of natural causes at 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, 222 Parkview Drive, Plymouth.
Emma was born the daughter of Willard and Edith Mae Penny Evans in Tippecanoe, Ohio, on November 20, 1918. She attended Ohio schools.
On November 16, 1956, in LaPaz, Emma and Levi S. Arnold were married. Levi died on October 12, 1995.
She was a homemaker. Emma left no immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her spouse.
Visitation in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2001.
Emma's funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church, will follow visitation at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Lura Aldene Cline
August 24, 1915 - April 19, 2001
BREMEN - Lifetime Marshall County resident, Lura Aldene Cline, 85, residing in the LaPaz/Bremen area since 1947, died at her residence, 10850 U.S. 6 West, in the company of her devoted husband, at 2 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2001. Lura had been in failing health for the past four years and died of an apparent heart attack.
She was born in Linkville on August 24, 1915, the daughter of James Lester and Edna Ruth Kreighbaum Wade. She was a graduate of LaPaz High School with the class of 1934.
On November 7, 1936, in Syracuse, Ind., Lura and Nelson D. Cline were married. A homemaker, she farmed with her husband. They were former Farm Bureau Co-op members.
Talking with her friends on the telephone was a favorite pastime of Lura's. She was a homebody and had lived a Christian life. In times past she liked to bake for friends and family.
She had been a member of the Walkerton United Pentecostal Church for many years.
Lura is survived by her husband and their daughter and son-in-law, Julia R. and Greg W. Davis, DeKalb, Illinois. Two granddaughters, Dawn and Haley Davis also survive.
A sister living in LaPaz, Vivian Jean and her husband, Harry Shidler, and Bremen brother and sisters-in-laws: Wilfred L. and Elfreda Cline and Helen Klinedinst survive as well, together with several nieces and nephews.
Lura was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening, April 20, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., and again on Saturday, April 21, 2001, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth Ind.
Funeral services for Lura will follow the Saturday visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Arnold Smith, pastor of the Walkerton United Pentecostal Church.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Anna M. Donohue
December 9, 1912 - April 20, 2001
PLYMOUTH - Anna M. "Ann" Donohue, 88, 700 Rex St., Plymouth, died of natural causes at 1:10 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2001 in Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth. Ann was a 45-year resident of Plymouth, coming from New York, N.Y. and Southbridge, Mass.
She was born in New York City, N.Y., on December 9, 1912, the daughter of John Terhune and Theresa McCoy Terhune. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in Manhattan and attended business school for one year.
Ann was married to Robert Hansen, who died in 1951. She later married Walter Donohue. Walter died on December 1, 1966.
Ann was a bank teller for twenty years with the Marshall County Building & Loan. She also worked for 12 years in the Valley American Bank of South Bend.
She was a movie buff, enjoying the silver screen. She loved to knit and crochet.
She was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Plymouth and a former member of the Women of the Moose, Plymouth.
Ann is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Roberta "Bobbie" and Karl Anderson, Plymouth.
Two granddaughters and their husbands also survive. They are: Melanie and Thomas Van Dyck, Ft. Wayne, and Andrea and Jeff Lightfoot, Indianapolis. A grandson and his wife, Michael and Lauren Rizzo of Portland, Ore., and two great-granddaughters, Lindsey and Emily Van Dyck and a great-grandson, Connor Lightfoot, also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses and two children: John A. "Jack" Hansen, a son, and Judy Rizzo, a daughter. Louis Rizzo, a son-in-law, four brothers and four sisters have also died.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m., on Sunday, April 22, 2001, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A prayer service will be held following visitation at 7 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Ann will be on Monday, April 23, 2001, at 1 o'clock in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 625 N. Center St., Plymouth. Father Anthony Gillespie, pastor of St. Michael's, will officiate.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Harley O. Rice Sr.
December 10, 1919 - April 20, 2001
Lake Station - Harley O. Rice, Sr., 90, of 2560 Wells St., Lake Station, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at his residence.
Harley was born on December 10, 1910 in Tiosa, IN, to A. J. and Hannah O'Blenis Rice.
He retired in 1972 as a construction supervisor with NIPSCO.
Harley was a talented musician and played with various bands in the area, also on area radio stations and on WLS National Barn Dance.
He was a life member of the Musicians Union; Lake Station Senior Citizens; AOPA Pilot Aircraft and Pilot's Association.
Survivors are his loving wife of 69 years, Pearl, of Lake Station; three daughters, Madalyn and John Miller of Portage Twp.; Juanita and Bruce Ross of Lansing, IL; and Betty and Jim Klassen of Valparaiso; 17 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Myrtle Rice of Tucumcari, New Mexico, and a cousin, Edna Dubois of Argos, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Harley, Jr. and Alan J. Rice; a grandson, Bryan Miller; two brothers, Alva and Paul; and a sister, Mary "Bonnie" Sissel.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 23, 2001 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave, Portage, IN, and on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, IN, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Gerald T. Walworth will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral Home.
