HOWE -- Ruth Mae Sherman, 79, of 802 Defiance St., died Friday in Columbia Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, Fla. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Pueschel of Sturgis; three sons, Franklin L. and Richard A., both of Howe, and Delevan of Sturgis; a sister, Alberta Seelig of LaGrange; and a brother, Duane of Howe. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lima Presbyterian Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Frurip-May Funeral Home. LaGrange.

Evelyn E. Silvers
Dec. 4, 1913-Jan. 17, 1998
PLYMOUTH -- Evelyn E. Silvers, 84, of 631 Broadway, died Saturday in St. Joseph's Hospital of Marshall County. Survivors include a son, James H. Whiteman of Plymouth; a sister, Ruby Letcher of South Bend; and a brother, Richard Barr of Logansport. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in House of Prayer. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, and one hour before services in Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home.

Dean R. Davis
Oct. 31, 1919-Jan. 13, 1998
ELKHART -- Dean R. Davis, 78, of 23819 Mary St., died Tuesday in Elkhart General Hospital. Survivors include two sons, Tom of Elkhart and Tim of Mishawaka; three sisters, Marilyn Wadell, Darlene Agar and Marge Huck, all of Newton, Iowa; and three brothers, Tom, Jack and Bud, all of Newton. There will be no services or visitation. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, is handling arrangements.

Frederick R. DeYoung
Nov. 30, 1935-Jan. 12, 1998
FRANCESVILLE -- Frederick R. DeYoung, 62, of County Road 600 E., died Monday in Pulaski County Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Hardesty); a son, Jerry of Thornton, Ill.; four sisters, Sally Stan and Betty, both of Crown Point, Ind., Sandi Curtis of Highland, Ind., and Laverne Scheeringa of Arizona; and three brothers, Roy and Don, both of Lansing, Ill., and Glen of Munster, Ind. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home, where friends may call two hours before services.

Roberta P. Harbaugh

BREMEN -- Roberta P. Harbaugh, 73, of King Road, died Monday in her home. Survivors include two sons, Daniel M. of Bremen and Richard L. of South Bend; two sisters, Audrey J. Dolph of Plymouth and Jessie Fulmer of Columbia City, Tenn.; and a brother, Edward Dolph of Plymouth. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Mabel I. Hilton

FRANCESVILLE -- Mabel I. Hilton, 92, of Parkview Haven Retirement Home, died Tuesday in the home. She is survived by her husband, Shirey. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

LAPORTE -- Edna Helen Knoll, 97, of 6222 W. Small Road, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday in Fountainview Terrace Nursing Home. She is survived by a daughter, Mary A. Stone of LaPorte. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Haverstock Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and until services Friday.

PLYMOUTH -- Mary Lois Stangland, 89, of Miller's Merry Manor, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday in the nursing home. Survivors include a daughter, Johanna Petry of Walkerton; and two sons, Bill of Mission Veigo, Calif. and Tom of Grosse Pointe, Mich. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Van Gilder Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

NAPPANEE -- Emma Thrailkill, 81, of Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart, formerly of 1651 E. Market St., died Tuesday in Elkhart General Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Rhoades of Elkhart; and a son, Mike Dunn of Nappanee. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Thompson & Yoder Funeral Home, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Katherine L. Alderfer

MENTONE -- Katherine L. Alderfer, 36, of 3395 S. Indiana 19, died at 7 a.m. Sunday in her home after an illness. Survivors include her husband, David A.; her parents, Robert and Sandra Denton of Warsaw; three sisters, Elizabeth Williams of Rochester and Penny Banghart and Katina Banghart, both of Warsaw; and three brothers, Foy Banghart of Claypool, Timothy Banghart of Mentone and Franklin Banghart Jr. of Warsaw. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in King Memorial Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
