James F. ‘Jim' Hunt
VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — James F. "Jim" Hunt, 75, of Veedersburg, died at 5:36 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 16, 2004) at Provena USMC, Danville, Ill.
He was born in Indiana, April 21, 1929, to Edrie Dewitt and Sarah Catherine Hook Hunt, Sr.
He was married Aug. 18, 1988, in Tennessee to Joan Davis.
She survives in Veedersburg.
He is also survived by a daughter, Marsha Kay Crouch of Indianapolis; a son, Wayne Coppenbarger of Kingman; three brothers, Hardy Herbert Hunt of Indianapolis, Holman Ronald Hunt of Huntington, Ind., and Richard Lee Hunt of Veedersburg; three sisters, Betty Catherine Black of Indianapolis, Mary Margaret Duncan of Windwood, Pa., and Leta Leigh Wallace of Jonesboro, Ga.; a grandson, Adam Crouch of Chicago and a granddaughter, Kendall Coppenbarger of Kingman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.
Mr. Hunt owned and operated Hunt Tree Trimming Service.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Bill G. Cunningham
Bill G. Cunningham, 71, of Findlay, Ohio, died at 3:35 a.m. EST Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002) at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.
He was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Fountain County, Ind., the son of King T. and Helen L. (Myers) Cunningham.
He married J. "Marty" (Kendall) Cooper Aug. 13, 1970.
She survives of Findlay. Other survivors include: his mother, Helen Cunningham of Attica, Ind.; one son, Steven S. Cunningham of Conyers, Ga.; two daughters, Terry Million of Harlingen, Texas and Lori (Marc) Saldana of Harlingen, Texas.; eight grandchildren, one step-grandson and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Cunningham of Veedersburg, Ind. and one sister, Myrna (Charles) Boggs of Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Billy King Cunningham, one stepdaughter, Carol Lynn (Cooper) Martin and a sister, Sharon (Wayne) Allen.
Mr. Cunningham retired in 1988 from Whirlpool, where he worked as a supervisor.
He worked part-time at Hillcrest Golf Course in Findlay.
He was a member of the College First Church of God, Friendship Sunday School Class, Masonic Lodge in North Baltimore, Ohio and American Legion in North Baltimore.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Visitation: 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. EST Monday, Dec. 2 at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church;

Paul E. Thomas
VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — Paul E. Thomas, 82, of Veedersburg, Ind., died at 7:31 p.m. Friday (Nov. 29, 2002) at the Lane House Nursing Home in Crawfordsville, Ind.
He was born on June 21, 1920, in Yeddo, Ind., to Harry and Artea Royce Thomas.
He was married in Wallace, Ind., on Oct. 22, 1939, to Marjorie M. Mears.
She preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1998.
He is survived by: a brother, Franklin (Mary) Thomas of Veedersburg; a sister, Alberta Asbury of Universal City, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Thomas served during WWII and retired from Harrison Steel in Attica, Ind., in 1982. .
He enjoyed playing horseshoes and tinkering in his garage.

Robert E. Schendel, Sr.
COVINGTON, Ind. — Robert E. Schendel, Sr., 71, of Covington, passed away at 1:15 am Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002) at the Illiana VA HCS Danville.
Robert was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Danville, the son of the late Charles and Mayme (Everett) Schendel.
Robert married Phyllis Louise Timmons on Dec. 18, 1959 in Danville, and she survives, of Covington.
Also surviving: two sons Robert (Shawn) Schendel, Jr. of Ridge Farm, and Michael (Stacey) Schendel of Bismarck.; a daughter, Debra (Tim) Busey of Decatur; a sister, Charlotte Schendel of Danville; and nine grandchildren; Sean, Kelly, Seth, Tiffani, Brandon, Briana, Jacob, Reid, and Mason.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy as a fireman.
Robert worked as a bricklayer for John Leverenz Masonry, retiring in 1996.
Robert was a member of the Local Bricklayers Union Local 8 in Champaign for 52 years.
was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville.
Robert's hobbies included playing golf when he was still able, watching sports and especially NASCAR racing.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. CST Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
Rev Daniel Fienen will officiate.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Park.
Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Norman Dale ‘Fuzz' Hughes
PERRYSVILLE, Ind. — Norman Dale "Fuzz" Hughes, 50, of Perrysville, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 15, 2004) at his home near Gessie.
He was born May 20, 1954, in Danville, Ill., to Chris Martin and Norma E. Hines Hughes.
He was a lifetime resident of the Gessie area.
He was a loyal member of IBEW Local 538 where he served as recording secretary.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Martin Hughes and a daughter Jackie Marie Hughes, both at home; his paternal grandfather, Harold Martin Hughes survives, as does his parents.
His brother, Jon Martin Hughes and sister, Crystal Susann (Mark) Anderson, also survive along with uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a loyal friend, Cathy.
He loved sports, cooking, gardening and was a tremendous help to his father on the farm.
He was an avid Harley rider.
He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and union brothers.

Dorothy D. Lewis
PERRYSVILLE, Ind. — Dorothy D. Lewis, 90, of Perrysville, Ind., formerly of Georgetown, Ill., passed away at 6:45 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 9, 2004) at the Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, Ind., where she had been a resident the past four years.
She was born April 30, 1914, in Warren County, Ind., the daughter of the late Thomas and Louisa Hedrick Ping.
She married Guy Lewis in Danville, Ill., in 1934.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1954 and ten brothers.
Dorothy is survived by several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was a 1932 graduate of Perrysville High School.
She was the owner of the Lewis Sporting Goods Store in Georgetown, for 15 years, retiring in 1975.
She and her husband, Guy, owned and operated a drugstore in Perrysville, for several years.
She was a member and former historian of the Perrysville United Methodist Church.
She was also a charter member of the Perrysville Chapter # 302 O.E.S.
Dorothy was a founding member of the Perrysville Senior Citizens Center and was honored to serve as Senior Citizens Queen of Vermillion County.
Funeral services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga, Ind.;

Henry L. Pithoud
KINGMAN, Ind. — Henry Pithoud, 85, of Kingman, died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 8, 2004), at the Department of Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville.
He was a retired farmer.
He was born July 10, 1919, in Kingman, to the late Lemuel Pithoud and Velva Moore Pithoud.
His wife of 53 years, Kathleen Dooley Pithoud, whom he married July 29, 1950, in Rockville, Ind., died Jan. 21, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Lemi Pithoud and his wife, Debbie, of Bloomingdale; three daughters, Anita Myers and her husband, Duane of Rockville, Brenda Ollier and her husband, Ken, of Kingman and Linda Snodgrass and her husband, Bob, of Rockville; three sisters, Margaret Anabelle Buser of Stroudsburg, Pa., Portia Hathaway of Kingman and Patricia Lape of Danville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Elisha Pithoud, in 1999.
He was a graduate of Kingman High School and attended Purdue University.
He was a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant during World War II.
He was active in Democrat Party politics all of hos life, serving two terms as the Sugar Creek Township Trustee in Parke County, Ind.
He loved to attend WWII reunions each year.
Henry was well-known for raising registered Hereford cattle.
He was also a salesman for DeKalb Seed Corn.

Kenneth Wayne Weidenburner
COVINGTON, Ind. — Kenneth Wayne Weidenburner, 76, of Covington, went home to be with Lord at 4:55 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 5, 2004) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.
He was the son of Joseph and Edna Weidenburner and had three brothers, Dean, Joseph and Donald Weidenburner, from Danville, Ill., all preceded him in death.
He worked for Allith Prouty Corp. for 30 years, ending his career as plant manager of the company.
He became part owner of Aztec Steel Corp. in Paris, Ill., retiring in 1986.
His lifelong dream became a reality when he and his wife purchased Sycamore Bowling Alley in Covington, and retired in 1991.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1946-1948.
He was a member and deacon of the Christian Union Church located in rural Covington.
He was also a member of the Walter Hoyt Post 350 American Legion in Perrysville and he was very active in all civic duties involving the post.
He loved all sports but he especially was a NASCAR racing fan.
Wayne was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and many friends and will be sadly missed by all.
Our respect and admiration has only been deepened by his strength, courage and faith during this time of illness.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Leah, and five children, Vicki (Russ) Hendrickson of Covington, Phil (Bev) Weidenburner of Dandridge, Tenn., Debi (Jerry) Market of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Todd (Terri) Weidenburner of Oakwood, Ill., and Joan (George) Juvinall of Muscatine, Iowa.
He has 12 grandchildren, Jami Hoskins, Nicki McLain, Michael and Brian Weidenburner, Traci Randall, Sara DeYoung, Jenny Market, Morgan and Kiley Weidenburner, Thomas, Shane and Hope Juvinall.
He also has eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Jace and Aidan Hoskins, Adisyn McLain, Ashley, Dustin and Dalton Weidenburner and McKenzie Randall.
One grandchild, Mitchell Juvinall, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8 at the Christian Union Church located on old Highway 63 west of Covington;
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at the Maranatha Baptist Church, 1111 Harrison St. in Covington;
His son-in-law, Pastor Jerry Market, and Rev. Grover Williams will officiate;
Burial will follow in Lower Mound Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion.

Sheryl R. (Sidener) Spears
GESSIE, Ind. — Sheryl R. Spears, 37, of Gessie, passed away at 9 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2004) at her home.
Sheryl was born Nov. 26, 1966, in Michigan City, Ind., the daughter of the late Steven and Betty (Rosnett) Sidener.
Sheryl attended Perrysville and North Vermilion schools.
She graduated from Danville High School in 1985.
Sheryl married Robby Spears on Feb. 14, 1992, in Danville, and he survives of Gessie.
Other survivors include her children, one son, Travis and one daughter, Steavie Jean Spears, both of Gessie; one sister, Mary (Dean) Kilgore of Cayuga; maternal grandmother, Ruby Rosnett; an aunt, Cheryl (Jack) Campbell; cousins, Ginger (Glenn) Bowling and Jason Hillard of Danville; a niece, Amanda Channell of Cayuga; nephews, Jarrod Bowling of Danville, and Jonathon and Silas Kilgore, both of Cayuga.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Kenneth "Andy" Rosnett, and paternal grandparents, Silas and Esther Sidener.
Sheryl worked as the manager for Christopher & Banks (Braun's) at the Village Mall for 17 years.
Sheryl enjoyed gardening, flowers, and shopping.
Her life was her family and being a great mother to her children and wife to her husband.
A celebration of Sheryl's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Danville;
Burial: Davis Cemetery in Fairmount;
Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5 at the funeral home.

Albert E. ‘Uncle Al' Tingley
Albert E. "Uncle Al" Tingley, 72, of Terre Haute, Ind., passed away Saturday (July 31, 2004), at his residence.
He and his wife were the owners of Uncle Al's Pecans in Terre Haute, since 1972 and had operated a restaurant at that location since 1990.
Albert was born April 24, 1932, at Marshall, Ill., the son of Frank and Grace Baggs Tingley.
He married Doris Garwood, April 26, 1951, at Marshall.
Surviving are his wife, Doris; two daughters and sons-in-law, Camille (Daniel) Farnsworth of Covington, Ind., and Corinne (Richard) Poling of Lakeland, Fla., one son and daughter-in-law, Steven Alex (Cindy) Tingley of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Jennifer Farnsworth, Jeffrey Farnsworth, Heather Miller and his youngest grandchild, whom he was especially proud of Brittany Tingley; three great-grandchildren, Brynne Miller, Mercedes Dewlen and Mia Miller; one sister, Rosanna Krock of Marshall, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his dearly beloved pet Boston Terrior, Walnut.
He was a 1950 graduate of Marshall High School.
In 1952, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he began as a radio operator at Biloxi, Miss.
He continued his military career in many places around the world. .
Following his military career he was employed by Lake Central in Danville, Ill., and was later employed by Allegheny Airlines and retired from Britt Airways in 1986.
He was treasurer of the Kiwanis of Greater Terre Haute, and did volunteer work at the 14th and Chestnut Streets Community Center.
He was a member of Social Lodge #86 of Terre Haute, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute.
There will be no formal funeral service.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at DeBaun Idaho Street Chapel, 1729 S. 8th St., Terre Haute, and from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., Marshall.
Because of severe allergies, the family has requested no flowers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the 14th and Chestnut Streets Community Center or the Terre Haute Humane Society.
