Nina Hopkins, 84, passed away on August 27, 2008, at Zionsville Meadows Nursing Home in Zionsville, Indiana. Nina was born January 1, 1924 in Lamar, Indiana to Wallace and Dorothy Shimer. Nina was preceded in death by husband Ralph Hopkins, son David Hopkins and sister Dorothy Lietz. Survivors are sons Mike Hopkins of Brownsburg, In and Randy Hopkins of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, sister Lillian Foertsch of Evansville, In , brothers John Shimer of Dayton, Ohio and Bill Shimer of Juliette, Georgia; 6 granddaughters and 3 great granddaughters.

Nina graduated from Dale High School in Dale, Indiana and worked many years for Dr. Edward Hollenberg in Winamac, Indiana. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Crown Point, Indiana and Spring Hill, Florida.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Winamac, Indiana on Friday, August 29, at 6:00 PM EDT. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 30 at 3:00 PM CDT at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Buffaloville, Indiana. Graveside service will be held at St John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery immediately following funeral services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

HERBERT H. VANAMAN JR.

SERVICE: 1PM EDT SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2008

Herbert H. Vanaman Jr., 66, of 415 East Decker Drive, Winamac, IN, passed away at 5:20 PM Monday, August 25, 2008 at Indiana Univ. Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born November 30, 1941, in Long Beach, CA, to Cmdr. Herbert and Ruth Garvey Vanaman Sr..

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Winamac.

He was a custodian at the Eastern Pulaski Community Schools, Winamac, from 1988-1999.

He served 30 years in the United States Navy, including serving on the USS Walke, USS Rogers, USS Preble, USS Grand Canyon, and the USS Piedmont. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment ribbon with star, and the Battle "E" ribbon. He also received the Good Conduct Medal five times.

He was a movie buff, especially older movies and enjoyed history movies and books.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM EDT Sunday, September 7, 2008, in First United Methodist Church, Winamac, with Pastor Kevin DeKoninck officiating.

Final dispostion will be burial at sea.

The American Legion and VFW will conduct military honors following the memorial service.

Vera Marie Clark, 89, of 5364 S 275 W, Winamac, IN, passed away at 3:28 AM Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.

She was born November 26, 1918, in Kingsbury, IN, to Arthur and Minnie Wickham Boardman. She married Henry L. Clark on June 19, 1938 in Tracy, IN. Henry died August 23, 1989.

Vera was a member of Judson Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN. She was a former member of the Pulaski Church Ladies Guild and was a former Elder of the church. Vera was a former resident of LaPorte County, Indianapolis and Punta Gorde, Florida. Vera enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with children and caring for animals. She was an avid Indiana Pacers fan. She was a former salesperson for Pool City in Indianpolis, IN., and a former cook at the Tippecanoe Country Club in Monticello, IN. Vera enjoyed traveling.

Evelyn L. Fisher, 87, of Dandridge, TN, formerly of Winamac, IN, passed away at Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in Tennessee.

She was born February 17, 1921, in Sevier County, TN, to Henry and Edna Kerley Burgess.

She was married to Capt. Charles H. Fisher on April 21, 1945, in Amerillo,TX. He died on Nov. 15, 1990.

She was a former Winamac resident before moving to Knoxville and Dandridge, TN.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and was a former Avon Representative.

Homer Leroy “Peanie” Crissinger, 86, of 342 East Galbreath Drive, Winamac, IN, passed away at 10:55 AM Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

He was born May 23, 1922, in Headlee, IN, to James and Cordelia Hall Crissinger.
Peanie married Alice Eileen White on June 20, 1942 in Headlee, IN. Eileen died on October 22, 1975. He married Marilyn Eshelman Poulos on January 21, 1978 in Winamac, IN. Marilyn died on September 16, 2000. He was a retired farmer. He served on the board of directors of Pulaski Human Services. Peanie served as Monroe township trustee for two terms. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting musrooms and driving through the countryside looking at crops.

Jerry Lynn Boehning, 55, of 523 Brown Street Apt 1, Lafayette, IN, passed away at 2:04 AM Monday, October 27, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette, IN.

He was born July 21, 1953, in Gary, IN, to Virgil and Catherine Hoeferlin Boehning.
Jerry married Karen McLochlin on July 27, 1974.

Jerry joined the United States Marine Corps at age 17. He served in the Phillipenes and in Vietnam. He was a member of AMVETS.

Jerry was a concrete finisher his entire working life, taking great pride in his work. He worked at WINCO and A&K Construction in Lafayette, IN.

Friends knew Jerry by the name "Birdseed". He was an avid reader and enjoyed poetry and music. He enjoyed outdoor life and camping. He enjoyed playing board games. Friends and family were Jerry's main focus in life.
