Gladys E. Ogle

Gladys E. Ogle, 89, Westport died 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002 at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home in Greensburg.

Born in Decatur County on April 11, 1912, she was the daughter of Wesley and Lillian Gertrude (Cheek) Scott. She married William Robert Ogle May 3, 1930 in Westport, and he preceded her in death March 19, 1967.

She was a long time resident of Decatur County, and graduated from Letts High School in 1930.

She retired in 1982 from C.H. Oliger and Sons at Greensburg and was also a tax preparer for over 50 years.

She is survived by 4 sons, Max Ogle of Westport, Robert Ogle and William Duane Ogle, both of Greensburg, and Lowell Sheldon Ogle of Grand Rapids, Michigan; one daughter, Sharon Hill of Westport; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Ann Kelly Ogle and Gary Duane Ogle; and one great great grandson, Samuel Schwering.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home.

The funeral will be Monday, Feb. 18, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home, with Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Aerie Cemetery in Letts.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Program through the funeral home.

Alice Mae Wilson

Alice Mae Wilson, 70, Batesville, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 at Decatur County Hospital.

Born June 30, 1931 at Batesville, she was the daughter of Clyde and Lois (Tarpenning) Vankirk. His mother survives. She married Ray Wilson Aug. 28, 1949 at Napoleon and he survives.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Napoleon United Methodist Church and attended the Versailles Senior Citizen Center.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two sons, Daniel Wilson of Osgood and James Wilson of Versailles; two daughters, Betsy Wilson of Napoleon and Mary Adams of Osgood; two brothers, Melvin Vankirk of Florida and Charles Vankirk of Greenfield; two sisters, Letha Harman of Greenfield and Martha Jane May of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his father, she was preceded in death by one son, David Wilson.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Neal's Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in Booher Cemetery near Napoleon.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made tot he Versailles Senior Citizen Center.

David Lee Kellems, 47

David Lee Kellems, 47, Waldron, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at his residence.

Born March 2, 1955, in Batesville, he was the son of Hubert and Virginia (Vierling) Kellems, and his mother survives.

He was a farmer and a laborer, working at Fischer Seeds and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Bernice Vierling of Shelbyville; one daughter, Jodi Lynn Wickliff of Shelbyville; one brother, Dan Kellems of Shelbyville; one sister, Nancy Scudder of Shelbyville; three grandchildren; and four nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service in Shelbyville. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Mildred G. Williamson, 95

Mildred G. Williamson, 95, Greensburg, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg.

Born Oct. 10, 1907, in Columbus, she was the daughter of Jesse Earl and Elizabeth Ellen (Whittington) Smith. She married Jean E. Williamson on Dec. 14, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1994.

Retired in 1972, she owned and operated Elizabeth Beauty Salon at Sycamore and Third streets in Columbus.

She was a member of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church and local antique clubs and enjoyed doll collecting, sewing and collecting antiques.

She is survived by one son, Danny Wagner of Greensburg; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and three nieces.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Bernice Wilson; and one brother, Cleo Earl Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Myers Funeral Service Reed & Jewell Chapel in Columbus with the Rev. Edward Bennett officiating. Entombment will be in Garland Brook Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. today and from 12:30 p.m. to the time of the funeral Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.

Robert J. Gregory, 55

Robert J. Gregory, 55, Greensburg, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born Oct. 4, 1947, in Clay County, Ky., he was the son of Hobart and Josephine (Ponder) Gregory, both deceased. He married Linda Raver Dec. 5, 1969, in Adams, and she survives.

A 1967 graduate of St. Paul High School, he worked in quality assurance for Delta Faucet and attended Springhill Presbyterian Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert Gregory Jr. of Fishers; two daughters, Amy Gregory of Muncie and Jeannie Bedel of Greensburg; three sisters, Dee Smith of Independence, Ky., Nancy Hubbard of Greensburg and Jean Sears of Joplin, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Willis, Carl and Everett Gregory; and two sisters, Shirley Wisebrodt and Mary Edna Gregory.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Springhill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Crowley officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. today at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Dorothy Ellen Shafer, 76

Dorothy Ellen Shafer, 76, Waldron, died at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Waldron Health Care Center.

Born May 6, 1926, in Hancock County, she was the daughter of Garnett and Mabel (McKay) Cowins. She was married to William H. Shafer May 20, 1943, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1979.

She was a former employee of the H&H Cartridge Factory in Greensburg.

She is survived by a son, Jim Shafer of Waldron; two daughters, Peggy Cain of Hope and Crystal Shook of Waldron; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Cowins and Wayne Cowins; and a sister, Juanita Cowins.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gilbert T. Tindall, 89

Gilbert T. Tindall, 89, Batesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at his residence.

Born Sept. 10, 1913 in Staten Island, N.Y., he was the son of M. James and Margaret Tindall. He married Pearl Yeager on Nov. 26, 1942 in Greensburg and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2001.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Patton's third Army and was awarded two Battle Stars and a Bronze Star. He was past president of the Batesville Men's Association and was publicity director of the Batesville Centennial Celebration in 1952. He was a member of the Batesville Eagles lodge, VFW and American Legion, where he was past commander.

He is survived by nieces and nephews and close friends Joseph and Darlene Darcy of Batesville.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one half-brother and one half-sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville with the Rev. Charles Flory officiating. Burial will follow in St. John (Huntersville) Cemetery in Batesville. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Sunday before the funeral.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW and American Legion firing squads or the Ripley County Humane Society.

Ava Maria Dinn, 40

Ava Maria Dinn, 40, Bloomington, died at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Bloomington Hospital.

Born March 19, 1962, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Earl T. Halcomb and Mary Sue Pelfrey Welch of Columbus.

She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Morgantown and worked for M.S.P. Inc. in Bloomington.

Besides her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Casie Sue Dinn and Stacie Lucille Dinn of Nashville; and a sister, Cheryl Lynn Brewer of Scipio.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Vernon Jewell-Nick Rittman Funeral Home in Columbus. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the funeral Monday.

Thelma N. Miller, 88

Thelma N. Miller, 88, Rush County, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Greenwood.

Born July 9, 1914 in Rush County, she was the daughter of Leonard and Mary E. (Brown) Pate. She married John F. Miller on Dec. 24, 1938 and he preceded her in death.

She was a farmer who owned and operated Miller's Grain and Livestock Farms. She was a member of the Homer Christian Church for 50 years and a graduate of the Indiana Business School.

She is survived by one son, John R. Miller Sr. of Rush County; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Burns Funeral Home in Milroy with the Rev. Don Heller officiating. Burial will follow in Hurst Cemetery in Rush County. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kelly D. Russell, 41

Kelly D. Russell, 41, Shelbyville, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, Shelbyville. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Delores 'Evelyn' Jackson, 70

Delores "Evelyn" Jackson, 70, Indianapolis, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born Oct. 11, 1932, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Charles R. and Mary (Gosch) Boger. She married Wray L. Jackson June 29, 1951, and he survives.

A 1950 graduate of Waldron High School, she was a homemaker and had worked at the Waldron Grocery for many years. She was a member of Waldron Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles E. "Gene" Boger, and a grandson, Seth Michael Cassidy.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Peggy Cassidy of Waldron; a brother, Lawrence Boger of Russell Springs, Ky.; three sisters, Martha Zinser of Greensburg, Cecilia Boring of Fountaintown and Lois Woolard of Shelbyville; and one granddaughter.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Waldron Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Holland officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery in Shelby County. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville, and one hour prior to funeral at the church.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Waldron Baptist Church.

Beulah M. Fagel, 85

Beulah M. Fagel, 85, Greensburg, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg.

Born March 18, 1918, her mother was Ellen Land Miers. She married Roscoe Fagel on Aug. 23, 1947. He preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1980.

Mrs. Fagel lived most of her life in Shelby County. She was a baker at Stories Res-taurant in Greensburg and a former employer at Cam-bridge Inn in Shelbyville.

Survivors are one daughter, Ruby (Ronnie) Mathews of Greensburg; four sons, Ros-coe Dale Fagel of St. Paul, Carl Fagel of Adams, Ronald Jolliff of Nicholasville, Ky., and Ralph Jolliff of Hartsville; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and one brother.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home in St. Paul with the Rev. Mike Layne officiating. Burial will follow in Paul Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Glen R. “Jiggs” Oldham, 70

Glen R. “Jiggs” Oldham, 70, of Hartsville, Ind., passed away at 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at his residence.

He was born on August 15, 1935 in Indianapolis, Ind., to Glenn and Frances (Talbott) Oldham. He was married to Rosanna Sandefur on December 28, 1958.

He was a service engineer with Cummins Engine for 44 years and retired in 2000. He was a member of the Hartsville Church of Christ where he had been an elder for 42 years, and a member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanna Sandefur; four daughters, Susan (Bobby) Williams of Nicholasville, Ky., Rebecca (Mike) Lawson of Nashville, Ind., Jennifer Oldham of San Antonio, Texas, and Elizabeth (Sean) Stvczynski of Indianapolis; four brothers, Robert Oldham of Prineville, Ore., James Oldham of Hartsville, Ind., Jon Oldham of Westport, Ind., and Phillip Oldham of Greensburg; three sisters, Monette Clark of Columbus, Ind., Melinda Oldham of Columbus, Ind. and Cammie Smith of Edinburgh, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Frances (Talbott) Oldham.

Friends may call the Norman Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2006 and also after 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the Hartsville Church of Christ. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the church with Rev. Ed Fryman officiating. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Ind.

Memorials may be made to the Hartsville Church of Christ or Hartsville Masonic Lodge through the funeral home.
