Mary H. Smith
GALVESTON -- Services for Mary H. Smith, 86, of 3901 High Street Road, Logansport, formerly of 3700E 1175S, Galveston, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Murray Funeral Home.
She died at 1:25 p.m. Friday, April 9, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born June 12, 1912, she was the daughter of John and Anna Myers Hamilton. She was raised by Delbert and Katherine Ridenour. On May 3, 1930, she was married to Henry A. Smith, who survives.
Mrs. Smith was a cook at Southeastern School Corporation, having retired in 1980 after 34 years of service.
She was a member of Center United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and the Women’s Missionary Society.
Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-laws, Eva M. and Wayne Logan, Logansport, and Ruthelyn and Jack Duvall, Monticello; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Earl and Patricia Smith, Rochester, and Thomas E. and Mary Smith, Lafayette; one sister, Martha T. Fry, Delphi; one foster brother, Richard Ridenour, Young America; three grandchildren and spouses, Terry and Betsy Logan, Amy and Shawn Dulin, and Karen Duvall; and two great-grandchildren.
One grandson, Mick Logan, and two brothers preceded in death.
The Rev. David Abel will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Center United Brethren Cemetery, Young America.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Center United Methodist Church.
Dwight J. DeLawter
Services for Dwight J. DeLawter, 84, of Logansport, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
Mr. DeLawter died at 8:05 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 9, 1914, In Logansport, he was the son of Perry and Catherine Koske DeLawter. On May 13, 1942, in Logansport, he was married to Helen Loveless, who survives.
He was a retired locomotive engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., he served during World War II.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790, American Legion Post 60 and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Also surviving are two daughters, Connie and her husband, Steven Miller, Fresno, Calif., and Deborah DeLawter, Marietta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Kathleen Miller, Holly Miller, Jennifer VeZolles, Elizabeth VeZolles and Peter VeZolles; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother and two sisters preceded in death.
The Rev. Jim Beaumont will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Tippecanoe County.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Ruth M. Burns
Services for Ruth M. Burns, 71, of Chase Center, formerly of 815 S. Cicott St., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park chapel.
She died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Chase Center.
Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Kroeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
June Mahoney
June Mahoney, 70, of Logansport, died at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.
Arrangements are pending at Fisher Funeral Chapel.
Robert Eugene ‘Bob’ Lemons
WALTON -- Services for Robert Eugene "Bob" Lemons, 70, of 2956S 850E, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Murray Funeral Home, Walton Chapel.
He died at 11:45 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2000, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born March 24, 1930, in Kokomo, he was the son of James J. and Ruby M. Guess Lemons. He was married on March 4, 1951, in Kokomo, to Virginia "Kate" Nations, who survives.
Mr. Lemons was retired, having been self-employed and the owner of Lemons Meat & Grocery in Walton.
He was a 1947 graduate of Kokomo High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947.
Mr. Lemons was a member of American Legion Post No. 418 in Walton, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3790 in Logansport, and was a life member of Am. Vet. No. 0091.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and being with his family.
Also surviving are three daughters, Kathy Lemons, Onward, Janet Osborn, Logansport, and Barbara Gordon, Walton; two sons, Robert Lemons Jr., Logansport, and Bill Lemons, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Sue Clark, Kokomo; four brothers, James Lemons, Leesburg, Fla., Joe Lemons, Atlanta, Ga., Dick Lemons, Onward, and Kenny Lemons, Walton; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One son, Tom, and one brother, Jack, preceded in death.
The Rev. Bill Collins will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Walton Odd Fellow Cemetery.

Thelma Dorothy Sullivan
DENVER -- Services for Thelma Dorothy Sullivan, 92, of Logansport, formerly of Twelve Mile, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel at Mount Hope Cemetery in Logansport.
She died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Logansport.
Born Oct. 23, 1907, in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Marion Oscar and Eleanor Ames Martin. She was married on June 14, 1942, in Terre Haute, to Lloyd L. Sullivan, who died June 14, 1989.
Mrs. Sullivan was a Logansport High School teacher, retiring in 1971. She taught short hand and typing for 43 years.
A graduate of Garfield High School in Terre Haute, she graduated from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
She was a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association and Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Jessie Ann and Darl McVay, Twelve Mile; three grandchildren, Diana McVay and Catherine McVay, both of Twelve Mile, and Phillip McVay and his wife, Angie, Logansport; two great-grandchildren, Erik James McVay, Twelve Mile, and Drew Phillip McVay, Logansport; and one sister-in-law, E. Ann Sullivan, Tamarack, Fla.
One sister, Jessie Martin, preceded in death.
The Rev. Sharon Arnold will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. today in McClain Funeral Home.

Tommy Lee Kirkpatrick
KOKOMO -- Memorial services for Tommy Lee Kirkpatrick, 65, of 227 Wickersham Drive West, will be held at a later date.
He died at 5:55 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2000, in Tupelo, Miss.
Born Nov. 20, 1934, in Logansport, he was the son of Creator and Marie Kirkpatrick. He was married on Sept. 28, 1957, in Logansport, to Phyllis Ingram, who survives.
Mr. Kirkpatrick was a supervisor in the brick department at Continental Steel.
He attended Logansport High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, 40&8, and the Masons.
He enjoyed reading, fishing and staying at his lake trailer during the summer.
Also surviving are his mother in Logansport; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly and Chris Thaman, Westfield, and Susan Kirkpatrick, Kokomo; one sister, Marilyn Dodson; and four grandchildren, Ryan Perry, Patrick Perry, Cathleen Thaman and Jessica Thaman.
His father and two grandsons, Ben and Alex Thaman, preceded in death.
Lee Memorial Funeral Home, Verona, Miss., is in charge of arrangements.
June Mahoney
Services for June Mahoney, 79, of Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
She died at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.
Born June 8, 1920, in Piatt County, Ill., she was the daughter of John O. and Versa Lou Sullivan Bowers. On Oct. 24, 1936, in Franklin, she was married to Carl L. Mahoney, who died July 3, 1991.
Mrs. Mahoney was a buyer for Arth Drugs in Lafayette.
She was a member of New Waverly United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star No. 507 in Lafayette.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth L. Mahoney, Fort Wayne, and Dennis W. Mahoney, Lafayette; one daughter, Barbara S. Harris, Mayer, Ariz.; four brothers, William "Bud" Bowers, Thomas Bowers and Carl Ray Bowers, all of Shelbyville, and John "Pete" Bowers, Baltimore, Md.; four sisters, Nellie Cherry, Kalamazoo, Mich., Rosalie Baker, Greenfield, Lena Mae Keel, Shelbyville, and Bonnie Lou Jefferies, Fairland; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
One brother preceded in death.
Pastor Mary Eileen Spence of New Waverly United Methodist Church will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral chapel, where a Order of the Eastern Star service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday.
Emil Wayne Featherstone
KOKOMO -- Services for Emil Wayne Featherstone, 82, of 2626 George St., Logansport, formerly of Kokomo, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St.
He died at 2:08 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in St. Joseph Hospital.
Born May 12, 1917, in Alto, he was the son of Walter and Ona Washington Featherstone.
Mr. Featherstone retired in 1981 from Haynes Stellite, where he worked in the acid department as a supervisor.
He was an active member of Logansport Riverview Wesleyan Church.
He loved fishing, cooking and his church family.
Surviving are one sister-in-law, Patsy Featherstone, Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and one sister preceded in death.
Pastor Roger M. Budde will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the mortuary.

Bette J. Carmin
Services for Bette J. Carmin, 76, of 303 Pine Court, will held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carmin died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 1999, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born June 11, 1922, in White County, she was the daughter of Charles and Susie Hook Suiter. On Aug. 8, 1941, in Delphi, she was married to Lawrence Carmin, who survives.
She was retired from the Logansport State Hospital after 30 years employment.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clymers.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Charles B. and Brenda L. Carmin, Logansport; one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Robbie Robison, Hanford, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Margaret Suiter, Earl Park; four grandsons, Carl Robison, Hanford, Calif., Christian Carmin, Lafayette, Jason Carmin, Anderson, and Alan Carmin, Logansport; three granddaughters, Tricia Miller, Hanford, Calif.; Cindy Ross, Logansport; and Debbie Gibson, Shafter, Calif.; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Sarah Gunter and Imogene Reames, and two brothers, Dick and John Suiter, preceded in death.
Pastor Greg Britt will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Howard Clair Paxton
ROCHESTER -- Services for Howard Clair Paxton, 72, of 1607 Idlewild Drive, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Foster & Good Funeral Home.
Mr. Paxton died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 1999, at his residence.
Pastor Don Meyer will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home and two hours before to the service.
Alfred L. "Cap" Howe
WINAMAC -- Services for Alfred L. "Cap" Howe, 78, of 4516W, 950S, Star City, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Frain Mortuary.
Mr. Howe died at 8:52 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 1999, in Pulaski Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 29, 1920, in Medaryville, he was the son of William Leonard and Ethel Laverne Foust Howe. On June 9, 1946, he was married in Indiana Creek Township, Pulaski County, to Jean Kestle, who survives.
A farmer, Mr. Howe also had served as postmaster of the Star City Post Office.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
Mr. Howe was a member of Pulaski Presbyterian Church and belonged to F&AM 262 of Winamac, South Bend Scottish Rite and American Legion Post 71.
He was a former advisory board member for Indian Creek Township and a former member of the Pulaski County Tax Board.
Also surviving are one daughter, Barbara K. Ritz, Brownstown; two sons, Allen L. Howe, Royal Center, and Andrew L. Howe, Star City; six grandchildren; and four sisters, Irene Jetmund, Terre Haute, Anna Fritz, Medaryville, Mary Goodwin, Mulberry, and Ruth Rohloff, Francesville.
One sister, Clara Parmley, preceded in death.
The Rev. David Gill will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be in Pulaski Presbyterian Cemetery, Pulaski.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday in the mortuary, where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. today.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pulaski Presbyterian Church.
Larry A. Mooney
PERU -- Services for Larry A. Mooney, 58, of 364 E. Main St., will be held at noon Wednesday in First Christian Church, 53 W. Main St.
Mr. Mooney died at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, April 11, 1999, in Dukes Memorial Hospital.
