Thelma I. Richardson, 90, of Huntington, IN, died at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007 at her residence.
Mrs. Richardson was born July 3, 1917 in Warren Township, Huntington County to Carl and Ruth Ann Zent Rupley.Her parents and a brother, Alvin E. Rupley preceded her in death.

Her marriage was to Stanley E. Richardson on April 7, 1938 in Huntington. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2004. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church Huntington, IN.

Survivors include a daughter: Mrs. Donald (Sandra) Anderson, Huntington, IN, a half-sister, DeVonna Byrd, Huntington, IN 2 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 25 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at The First Presbyterian Church, 50 East Tipton St., Huntington, IN with the services at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. John Ritchie officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to American Cancer Society, The First Presbyterian Church or donor’s choice all in care of the funeral home.
Private burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion, IN.

Patrick A. Eckert, 75, Huntington,, IN, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 (10:34AM) at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.
Mr. Eckert was born April 10, 1932 in Huntington, IN. to Edward A. and Esther M. Harper Eckert. His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Eckert was a graduate of Huntington Catholic High School, Class of 1949.Patrick was Director of Envelope Operation at Our Sunday Visitor and then Director of Envelope Operation at Postal Church Service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #1014.He served as past-president of Huntington Catholic School Board, a member of Printing Industry of America and served as president and vice-president of Offering Envelope Association.

Survivors include: 2 Sons: Chris Eckert, Fort Wayne, IN and Michael Eckert, Hartford City, IN. 3 Daughters: Patricia Matheny, Huntington, IN, Michelle Dull, Tiffin, OH. and Laura Smart, Huntington, IN. 8 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. 1 brother: Jim Eckert, Huntington, IN.

Preceded in death by 1 sister: Patricia Barnes.

Arley R. Morris, 74, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. A modest man who won the respect of all who knew him. He was born January 1, 1933 in Tiskilwa, Illinois to James and Annetta Gitner Morris. His parents preceded him in death.
He and Jeanette McClellan were married October 19, 1951 in New York City on a new television program called Bride and Groom. They moved to Huntington in 1952. He was promoted to Operations Manager of the Huntington County REMC, the youngest man in the state to hold such a responsible position. He was twice elected President of the Engineer and Superintendents section of Indiana Statewide, served two terms as President of the Izaak Walton League, was a Jaycee, and Exchange Club member, a member of the Moose Lodge and a charter member of the Optimist Club. He earned degrees from DeVry Technical Institute and Ferris State College. He was a life member and a certified instructor for personal defense with the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include: 2 Sons: Greg Morris (JoEllen), Roanoke, IN and Stuart Morris, Huntington, IN. 1 Brother: Frank Morris, Midford, OK. and 4 Sisters: Mary Morris, Bluffton, IN., Eleanor Wood, Markle, IN.; Betty McComber, Tiskilwa, IL. and Anna Mae Schertz, Gaylesbury, IL. He has 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by 1 brother: James Morris.

Calling will be Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 1224 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, Indiana from 12:00 noon to 2 PM with a Funeral service to follow at 2:15 PM with Father Richard Miller officiating,

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery with an after life celebration at the North Star Civic Center from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

Sister Teresa Gerlits O.L.V.M., 85, of Victory Noll in Huntington, IN. died Thursday October 11, 2007 at 9:00 AM at Victory Noll in Huntington, IN.
Sister Teresa Gerlits was born June 2, 1922 in Denver, CO to Edward Gerlits and Grace Hittner Gerlits. Her parents preceded her in death.

Sister Teresa entered the congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on October 28, 1942 and made first Vows on August 5, 1945. She served in the missions in California, Wyoming, Missouri and Florida. She retired to Victory Noll in 2006.

She was survived by one sister, Sister Agatha Gerlits, OLVM of Victory Noll and one Brother Edward Gerlits of Trinity Center, CA.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, John, Sylvester and Wilfred Gerlits also two sisters Rose Buhr and Marcella Uselman.

A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday October 14, 2007 with calling one hour prior to the service at the Victory Noll Chapel, 1900 W. Park Drive, Huntington, IN.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday October 15, 2007 with one hour of calling prior to the mass at the Victory Noll Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas Fahey presiding.

Burial will be at the Victory Noll Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

Ferne O. Enright, 90, of Huntington, IN died Friday October 5, 2007 at 11:55 PM at the Millers Merry Manor Huntington, IN.

Ferne Enright was born August 21, 1917 in Plymouth, IN to Harry Campbell and Nellie LeFevere; her parents preceded her in death.

She married Jerome “Jerry” T. Enright in 1939. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2002.

Mrs. Enright was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington, Indiana.

Survivors include: 2 Sons: Terry Enright, Vernon Hills, IL and Patrick Enright, Nashville, TN.

4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. 1 Sister: Lois McGriff, Indianapolis, IN.
Proceeded in death 1 Brother, Keith Campbell.

Sister Josephine Konrad, O.L.V.M., 92, of Victory Noll in Huntington, IN. died Monday, September 24, 2007 (12:30 AM) at Holy Family Heath Care Center Victory Noll, Huntington, IN.

Sister Josephine Konrad was born January 12, 1915 in Dingolfing, Bavaria Germany to Matthias and Katherine (Lindner) Konrad. Her parents preceded her in death.
Sister Josephine entered the congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on November 6, 1944 and made first Vows on August 5, 1947. She served in the missions in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Texas and Wyoming. She returned Victory Noll in 1990 and worked in pastoral care and transportation as well as secretarial work.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Josef Konrad and by two sisters Katherine Gebelein and Maria Kasper.

A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 with calling one hour prior to the service at the Victory Noll Chapel, 1900 W. Park Drive, Huntington, IN.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 27, 2007 with one hour of calling prior to the mass at the Victory Noll Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas Fahey presiding.

David A. Schenkel, 57, Huntington, died on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 10:35 a.m. at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
David A. Schenkel was born in Wabash Indiana on June 14, 1950 to Eugene and Mary A. (Hoover) Schenkel. His father preceded him in death.

Mr. Schenkel graduated from Northfield High School. He also graduated from Huntington University with a degree in education and earned a Masters Degree from Indiana University.

Mr. Schenkel received a number of community awards and was active in several civil organizations including: 1984 Indiana Jaycee “Outstanding Young Hoosier” award; Huntington Herald Press “Huntington County Citizen of the Year for 1987”; 1993 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe”; Chairman of Heritage Days Steering Committee; Historical Review Board member; Past President - LaFontaine Arts Council; Officer of South Side Business Association; Coordinator of the Dan Quayle Commemorative Foundation: Huntington Mayor Candidate - 1991; Advisory Committee for Merillat Centre for the Arts; Salvation Army Board; Indiana State Festival Association Board; and Indiana Tourism Foundation.

Mr. Schenkel was employed as a team leader for RGIS. He was a former teacher at Jefferson Center Elementary school in Whitley County; General Manager of Harold’s Auto Parts; and Account Representative for Sun Control Center.
Survivors include his mother, Mary A. Schenkel, Andrews; two brothers: Ron (Deb) Schenkel, Urbana and Greg (Kelly) Schenkel, Wabash; and a sister: Susan (Mike) Keaffaber, Wabash; eight nieces and nephews; and one grand-niece.

Calling will be 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 23 at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Inc., 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN

Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 23 at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Newton officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Mrs. Collier was born August 11, 1916 in Decatur, IN to Russell and Vivian Dawson Acker. Her parents preceded her in death.

Mrs. Collier married Melvin H. Collier on December 30, 1939 in Kimmel, IN He preceded her in death January 31, 1996.

Mrs. Collier was the bookkeeper for their family businesses including Andrews Elevator, Collier Feedmill, the two Huntington Dairy Queens and Valley View Estates Huntington,IN. She is a member of the Central Christian Church Huntington, IN and the Psi Iota Xi Sorority Huntington, IN.

Survivors include: One daughter Mrs. Cyndy Pressler. 2 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday September 18, 2007at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street Huntington, IN.

Donald McElhaney was born on September 3, 1915 to John Fulton and Hazel Orpha Young McElhaney.

He married Helen Louise Weaver on August 21, 1935 at Winona Lake, Warsaw, IN. She survives and resides in Huntington, IN.

Mr. McElhaney was a graduate of Huntington High School, Class of 1933. He was employed with the U. S. Postal Service for 33 years. He retired in 1973.Mr. McElhaney was a Member of The Evangelical United Methodist Church were he taught Sunday School for 45 years and a member of the Erie Band for 50 years.

Survivors include: 1 Son: Thomas A. McElhaney, Huntington, IN. Grandchildren 3 and 7 Great-Grandchildren. 1 Brother, Fred McElhaney, Huntington, IN.

Deceased: 1 Son: J. Steven McElhaney and 1 Sister: Helen Ackermann

Mrs. Moore was born December 28, 1917 in Greene County, Indiana to James and Eva McConnell Boruff. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Moore first marriage was to Herschell Brock and her second marriage was to Edward L. Moore. Both spouses are deceased.

She was employed as a Group Leader at E Systems. She was a Graduate of Smithville High School in 1936 and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Huntington, IN and Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority.

Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Mrs. Patrick (Judy) O’Banion, Huntington, IN and Mrs. Larry (Susan) Waikel, Huntington, IN. 1 Brother: Benton Boruff, Springville, Indiana. 1 Sister: Jean Smith, Lafayette, Indiana, Best friend, Maxine Weaver, 4 Grandchildren, 1 Step-grandchild, 3 Great Grandchildren, and one step Great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Wilbur Boruff, and 2 grandchildren.

Calling will be Friday September 7, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street Huntington, IN.
