Marjorie H. Buzzard Machmer, 1421 South Jefferson Street, Huntington, died Monday (January 22, 2007) at her home.
Mrs. Machmer was the former owner of Marjorie’s Income Tax Service working out of her home for over 25 years, retiring in 1994. Marjorie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Moose Ladies Lodge, American Legion Post #7, V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #2689 all in Huntington where she was active in the local, district and state in the auxiliary, having served as past president, three times. She held offices of the 5th district and served as president in 1952-1953. She also held offices in the State of Indiana in the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary from 1969-1970. She was “runner up” with the National V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary for outstanding Leadership from 1969-1970. She recently served as State Chief of Staff and as the State Assistant Treasurer.
Mrs. Machmer was born February 10, 1920 in Rock Creek Township in Huntington County the daughter of John P. and Calverna Nelson Hayes. She was a lifetime resident of Huntington County. Her first marriage was to Chester Buzzard on April 27, 1940 in Huntington and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1970. Her second marriage was to William H. Machmer on February 4, 1972 in Huntington and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1993.
Survivors include her son - James N. (Nancy) Buzzard of Huntington, one brother - William T. Hayes of Ft. Wayne, two grandchildren Amy Buzzard of Warren, Benjamin Buzzard of Columbia, South Carolina, and one great granddaughter Madison Karst of Warren. Two sisters Freela Webster and Estella Freed preceded her in death.

Private family funeral services will be held at the Bailey-Love Mortuary on Friday (January 26, 2007) with Russell Buzzard officiating. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.

Marjory I. Smith, age 84, 1403 North 800 West, Andrews, IN, died Sunday (January 7, 2007) at 7:32 p.m. at the Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Marjory worked at the former Kitchen Maid in Andrews and was the former owner of the Townhouse Café Restaurant in Andrews. She was a member of the Dora Christian Church and American Legion Auxiliary in Lagro, IN. Marjory was a 1941 graduate of Monument City High School.
Marjory was born on October 31, 1922 in Huntington County, the daughter of Louis and Francis Stephan. She married Lawrence J. Bitzer in 1941 in Huntington County and he preceded her in death in 1951. Her second marriage was to Noble Dale Smith in 1953 in Hartford City, IN. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Surviving is one son - Frederick (Marcia) Smith of Andrews, IN; and two grandsons - Brandon and Preston Smith both of Andrews. Three brothers - Harold Stephan, Howard Stephan, and Carl Stephan, preceded Marjory in death.
Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday (January 9, 2007) at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (January 10, 2007) at the mortuary with one hour of visitation prior to services. Pastor Bill Cook will officiate. Burial will be in the Andrews Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.

Mark D. Adkins, age 45, 626 N. Wayne St., Warren, IN, died Thursday (August 10, 2006) at 3:32 a.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mr. Adkins was employed at Northern Indiana Packaging in Huntington for the last 6 years and Indiana Corrugated in Warren for 16 years prior to that. He was a member of the Van Buren American Legion Post # 368 and the Jonesboro American Legion Post #95.
Mr. Adkins was born February 23, 1961 in Port Clinton, Ohio, to Earl and Ethel (Johnson) Adkins. He was a 1979 graduate of Huntington North High School.
Survivors include his mother - Ethel Adkins of Warren, IN; two sons - Erik D. (Kathryn) Adkins of Taylors, SC and Garrett D. Adkins of Warren, IN; one daughter - Cassidy J. Adkins of Warren, IN; five brothers - Roy Adkins of Zanesville, IN, Mike Adkins of West Texas, Jerry Adkins of Huntington, Tim Adkins of Huntington and Randy Adkins of Warren, IN; one sister - Sharon Adkins of Warren, IN; and five grandchildren. His father preceded him in death.

Mark A. Crickmore II, 19, of Andrews, died at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday (July 15, 2008).
Mr. Crickmore worked for Acme Machine in Columbia City as a machine operator. Prior to that, he worked at K-Mart in Huntington as a stockman. He was a member of the Huntington County 4-H Club, F.F.A., and attended Andrew’s United Methodist Church and Union Church. Mark loved Ford trucks, horses, fishing and hunting. He was his father’s fishing partner. Mark was a very laid back, easy going, and patient person who loved life.
Mark was born January 16, 1989 in Bluffton. He was the son of Mark A. and Lynn (Bickel) Crickmore. He graduated from Huntington North High School in 2007 and was attending IVY Tech Community College in Ft. Wayne.
Survivors include his parents - Mark A. (Amy) Crickmore of Columbia City and Lynn Crickmore and fiancé, Ray Keller of Andrews; sister - Angela L. Crickmore of Andrews; girlfriend - Katurah Kreider of Markle; grandparents - Madonna Bickel, Carl & Marilyn Crickmore, and Mark & Marge Cozad; great grandmother - Vivian Garrison; and several aunts and uncles. A grandfather - John T. Bickel preceded him in death.

Mark M. Eberhart, age 89, Huntington, died Sunday (December 31, 2006) at 7:55 a.m. at the Heritage of Huntington where he was residing.
A lifetime Warren Township farmer, Mark retired from Triad-Utrad in Huntington in 1981 where he worked since 1975. He also worked from 1963-1975 at Majestic in Huntington. Mark was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church also in Huntington. He graduated from Bippus High School in 1935 and continued his education earning an associates degree in accounting from Marion Business College in 1951.
Mark was born June 14, 1917 in Huntington, to Ray C. and Martha (Altman) Eberhart. He married Mary L. Fulton in Huntington on April 7, 1940. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2004.
Survivors include four sons - Gary W. (Norma) Eberhart of Fishers, IN, Richard A. (Joyce) Eberhart of Carmel, IN, Robert A. (Kay) Eberhart of Fishers, IN, and Brian E. (Kay) Eberhart of Lilburn, Georgia, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Marlene B. Little, age 52, 10739 South 700 West-35, Marion, IN, died Saturday (August 20, 2005) at 8:30 p.m. at her daughter’s home in Cissna Park, IL.
Mrs. Little was a secretary and agent for Thorne Insurance for over 19 years. She also helped her husband, John, on their Wayne Township farm. A lifetime resident of Huntington County, Mrs. Little loved to knit and crochet. She was looking forward to being a “grandma.”
Mrs. Little was born on July 22, 1953 in Huntington, the daughter of William “Bill” and Gladys (Hedrick) Thorne. She married John R. Little on July 6, 1974 in Huntington. Mrs. Little was a 1971 graduate of Huntington North High School.

Marsha Renee Ruckman, age 46, 503 Buffalo Street, South Whitley, IN died Wednesday (April 25, 2007) at 7:54 a.m. at the Parkview Whitley County Hospital, Columbia City, IN.
Mrs. Ruckman was a homemaker and a member of the AmVets in South Whitley. She graduated from Huntington North High School in 1979.
Marsha was born on March 4, 1961 in Huntington, the daughter of Bob and Zouie (Lancaster) Whitacre who survive in Huntington.

Martha Jane Lauer, age 84, North Manchester, died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday (August 23, 2008) at the Heritage of Huntington.
Mrs. Lauer was a homemaker and worked with her husband Paul on their Warren Township Farm. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the Wells County Hospital for 6 years and the Lauer Farm Center in Roann.
She was a member of the St. John’s Church in Bippus, the Women’s Fellowship of the church, Wells County Rural Youth, a 55-year member of the Warren Township Home Demonstration Club and was a 4-H leader for many years.
Martha Jane was born June 2, 1924 in Wells County, the daughter of Ernest and Ethel Lesh. She was a 1942 graduate of East Rock Creek High School. She married Paul Edward Lauer on February 15, 1948 in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wells County.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years - Paul E. Lauer of N. Manchester, one daughter - Paula (Wally) Johnson of Peru, IN; two sons - Alan (Trish) Lauer of North Manchester and Roger (Lisa) Lauer of Roanoke; a daughter-in-law - Judy Lauer of North Manchester; two sisters - Maxine (Charles, Jr.) Goebel of Huntington and Betty Lou Dunwiddie of Bluffton, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A son, Nelson Lauer, preceded her in death.

Martha E. Webb, age 89, of Huntington, died at 11:15 pm on Sunday (February 24, 2008) at Treasure Coast Hospice House, Stuart, FL.
She was born August 9, 1918 in Hickman, Kentucky, the daughter of Ancil A. and Mary (Bradley) Royer. Martha was a 1936 graduate of Hickman High School and attended Anderson College in Anderson, IN. Mrs. Webb was a pastors wife/homemaker and was an active member of the Faith Community Church of God in Huntington. Martha married Rev. William Jefferson Webb, Sr. on June 20, 1938 in Hickman, Kentucky. He preceded her in death in June 30, 1999. She left an imprint of her love and joy in countless lives all over the world.
Survivors include one son - William J. (Sandra) Webb, Jr. MD. of Huntington; two daughters - Mrs. Jo Anne (Doc) Buchanan of Hobe Sound, FL, and Dr. Joyce (Kenneth) Duquette of Cartersville, GA; one brother - Thomas Royer of Warren, MI; four sisters - Pauline Gaskins of El Paso, TX, Doris Phillips of Union City, TN, Lou Badger of Union City, TN, and Alice Malooly of El Paso, TX; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, son - Richard Harold Webb, three sisters - Mary Frances Royer, Virginia Dotson, and Barbara A. Davidson, and brother - John “Buddy” Royer preceded her in death.

Mary “Bea” Culver, age 87, Huntington, died at 9:31 p.m. Tuesday (March 4, 2008) at the Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mrs. Culver retired from Essex wire in Andrews in 1977, where she worked as a machine operator. Mary attended Bible Baptist Church in Huntington. Mary volunteered in food service at the Huntington Senior Center. She loved and cared for her family.
Mary was born on March 19, 1920 in Nelson County, KY, the daughter of John Henry and Viola P. (Kennedy) Case. She married John William Culver in Nelson County, KY, on September 24, 1940, and he preceded her in death in January of 1976.

Mary H. Hamilton, age 54, 224 Wabash Circle, Huntington, died at 9:05 p.m. Saturday (April 7, 2007) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mrs. Hamilton was the former director of the Huntington House Homeless Shelter for 17 years and attended the First Church of the Nazarene. A 1970 graduate of Southside High School, she moved to Huntington from Ft. Wayne in 1990.
Mary was born on April 25, 1952 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of James H. Boling and Velma (Dunkley) Hammer. Her father precedes her in death.
Survivors include her mother - Velma Hammer of Ft. Wayne; one son - Jamie Hamilton of Huntington; one daughter (fiancé) - Ashley Hamilton (Josh Beeks) of Huntington; three sisters - Rose Ann Freeman of Ft. Wayne, Evelyn (Bob) Brooks of Ft. Wayne and Cheryll (Don) McKay of Ft. Wayne; several nephews and nieces and one special great-nephew - Tyler “Butters” Martinez of Ft. Wayne.

Mary E. Reiff, age 96, Warren, formerly of 22 Jackson St, Andrews, died Friday (March 24, 2006) at 8:35 a.m. at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, IN.
Miss Reiff was a teacher for over 40 years with the last of her employment being with South Side High School in Ft. Wayne, IN where she taught Latin for 25 years and retired in 1974. She had resided at the Andrews address since 1913 until her move to Warren in 2001. She was a member of the Andrews First Christian Church. Miss Reiff was born November 22, 1909 in Andrews, IN, the daughter of Lewis W. and Hazel (Schofield) Reiff. She graduated from Andrews High School in 1926 and received her teaching degree from the University of Michigan in 1931. She also received a honorary doctorate degree from Huntington College in Classical Literature and studied Literature in Rome, Italy.

Mary Jane Schoeff, 80, Huntington, died at 6:53 p.m. Friday (February 29, 2008) at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne.
Mrs. Schoeff was a bookkeeper for 19 years in the Welfare Department in Huntington. She also worked at Memcor in Huntington as a bookkeeper, and at the Lawrence Studio in Huntington, as a photographer. Mary was a member of St. Peter’s First Community Church in Huntington. She also was a Past President of the women’s auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post 2689 (Huntington), member of the women’s auxiliary of the American Legion Post 160 (Roanoke), and the Beta Sigma Phi Bridge Club of Huntington.
Mary was born July 6, 1927 in Huntington. She was the daughter of Claude and Florence (Emley) Farthing. She married Richard E. Chesterman in Huntington, in February of 1948, and he preceded her in death in May of 1961. She then married John A. Schoeff in October of 1964 in Bluffton, and he then preceded her in death on October of 2002.
Survivors include her son - Richard (Karen) Chesterman of Huntington; a daughter - Mrs. Rick (Diana Sue) Schrader-Reeder of Melbourn, Florida; a sister - Betty Jean Jacobs of Beaufort, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Two brothers - Donald and Rex Farthing, also preceded her in death.

Mary Elizabeth Shaffer, age 80, 4213 North 580 West, Huntington, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday (December 3, 2006) at her daughter’s home.
Mrs. Shaffer was a homemaker and worked part time for The Tab newspaper for 14 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Huntington. A resident of Huntington for most of her life, Mary graduated from Wabash High School in 1945.
Mrs. Shaffer was born on February 24, 1926 in Wabash, IN, the daughter of Oliver Raymond and Mary A. (Hodson) Brown. She married C. Eugene Shaffer on September 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1993.
Survivors include her daughter - Bonnie (James) Jones of Huntington; a brother - Orville Brown of Bluffton, IN; a sister - Nora Fearnow of Wabash, IN. A brother, John C. Brown, and two sisters, Helen Mendenhall and Dorothy Beaver, preceded her in death.

Mary M. Wiley, 93, 801 Huntington Avenue, Warren, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday (January 21, 2008) at Heritage Pointe in Warren where she had been residing.
Mrs. Wiley retired from the Huntington County Courthouse after 16 years as a Deputy Auditor and Deputy Recorder. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Huntington County. Mary was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Huntington and taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
Born January 17, 1915 in Polk Township, Huntington County, she was the daughter of Istria I. and Emma J. (Campbell) Alexander. Mary graduated from Monument City High School in 1932. She married I. H. Wiley on January 10, 1934 in Mt. Etna and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2002.
Survivors include two sons - James R. (Janet) Wiley of Huntington and Jerry C. (Alice) Wiley of Huntington; three daughters - Carol (Norman) Zurcher of Huntington, Nancy Wiley of Ft. Wayne and Marilyn (Kenneth) Pientka of Middleton, Wisconsin; one brother - Charles Alexander of Warren, 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Royal Alexander and Arthur Alexander, and a sister, Nola Ridenour, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday (January 24, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday (January 25, 2008) at First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Road, Huntington, with 1 hour of visitation prior to the service. Rev. Mary O. Coffman, age 92, 714 Bartlett Street, Huntington, died Monday (January 22, 2007) at 11:03 a.m. at the Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Mrs. Coffman had been an Avon Representative in Marion, Ohio for many years. She was a member of the Community Faith Church of God, Women’s group of the church, Erie Lackawanna Ladies Auxiliary and the Grandmothers Club all of Huntington.
Mrs. Coffman was born on July 11, 1914 in Columbus, IN, the daughter of George F. and Vesta D. Hacker Walters and she was a 1932 graduate of the French Lick High School in French Lick, IN.
Mrs. Coffman married William E. Coffman in 1932 in Sidell, IN, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1988.
Survivors include her daughter - Patricia L. Gibson of Huntington, one brother George F. Walters, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, one sister Mrs. Earl (Betty) Stacy of Batavia, OH, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One son Dale Coffman, four brothers, William J. Walters, Edward Lee Walters, Russell C. Walters, Norman E. Walters and one sister Maxine Brumbaugh, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till noon on Wednesday (January 24, 2007) at the Faith Community Church of God, 3615 North Norwood Road. Funeral services will be at 12 noon Wednesday (January 24, 2007) with Rev. Stephen Stull officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

Mathias E. "Matt" Kiefer
Mathias E. “Matt” Kiefer, age 83, 935 Evergreen Road, Huntington, IN died at 6:30 pm, Friday (March 24, 2006) at Miller’s Merry Manor, Huntington, IN.
Mr. Kiefer retired in 1985 from General Motors in Marion where he was a welder for over 30 years. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Church in Huntington, the Sympathy Club of G.M. in Marion and the U.A.W. Local # 977 in Marion.
Mr. Kiefer was born July 16, 1922 in Huntington to Frank and Opal (Brenneman) Kiefer. On November 17, 1945, he married Joan Lawson in Huntington. Matt was a WWII veteran of the United States Army where he was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster. He was also awarded the Eastern Africa Middle East Campaign Ribbon with five Bronze Star Devices.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years - Joan Kiefer of Huntington; four sons - Terry W. (Darlene) Kiefer of Perrysburg, OH; Mark G. (Vickie) Kiefer of Huntington; Martin D. Kiefer of St. Petersburg, Fl and Timothy L. (Melissa) Kiefer of Noblesville, IN; two brothers - Thomas Kiefer of Huntington and Glen (Shirley) Kiefer of Huntington; three sisters - Esther Warkentien of Huntington, Chaltha Taylor of Huntington and Theresa Davis of Columbia City, IN; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Brothers - Richard Kiefer, Joe Kiefer, Robert Kiefer, Hank Kiefer, George Kiefer and Harry Kiefer, and sisters - Mary Lucille Karst and Betty Wooley, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Tuesday (March 28, 2006) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday (March 29, 2006) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Richard Frederick and Rev. Stan McCammon officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, with the V.F.W. Post #2689 performing the graveside military rites.

Matthew Allen Martinez, age 14, 9054 North 319 West, Huntington, died Wednesday (January 9, 2008) at the Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Matthew was a 7th grade student at Crestview Middle School. He loved to play video games, listen to audio books, and his Northwest Elementary and Crestview Schools and teachers. Matthew loved to make people laugh and he had a great sense of humor.
Matthew was born on October 19, 1993 in Tampa Bay, Florida, the son of Raul and Sandra S. (Primmer) Martinez, Jr.
Survivors include his parents of Huntington, five brothers - Raul Martinez, III of Huntington, Steven Royce (Tara) Martinez of Huntington, David Glenn Martinez of Clover, South Carolina, Christopher Michal Martinez of Huntington and Luke Huston of Huntington; one sister - Elizabeth Ann Martinez of Huntington, and grandparents - Charles and Sandra Primmer of Huntington and Barbara Ann Pullin of Tampa Bay, Florida. Also, uncles - David Gonzalas of Tampa Bay, Florida, Charles Primmer, Jr. of Huntington, Nathan Primmer of Huntington; aunts - Sharon Martinez of Tampa Bay, Florida, Hidi Primmer of Huntington, Amanda Primmer of Huntington and Dawn Brown of Huntington; nephews - David Glenn Martinez, Jr. and Royce Allen Martinez; niece - Gabrilla Lynn Martinez, and several cousins.
Visitation will be Saturday (January 12, 2008) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary from 12 - 2 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday (January 12, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Huntington County, IN.
