Maurice E. Wright, age 94, Huntington, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday (February 13, 2007) at Norwood Nursing Center, Huntington.
Mr. Wright retired in 1974 after 22 years with S.S. Kresge Distribution Center in Ft. Wayne. Prior to that, he worked 15 years at Imco Manufacturing in Huntington. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #2689 both in Huntington, and in the American Legion Post #31 in Angola. Mr. Wright resided in Huntington all but for the 30 years that he lived in Angola, IN. Maurice graduated in 1931 from Huntington High School. A WW II veteran, he served with the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Asiatic-Pacific Tour.
Mr. Wright was born November 3, 1912 in Huntington, the son of Clarence E. and Viola B. (Fry) Wright. He married Juanita B. Buse on August 31, 1940 at the Central Christian Church in Huntington. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2004.
Survivors include his brother - Clarence Wright, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN and his sister - Helen Wells of Deming, New Mexico. His brother, George Wright, and sister, Agnes Jarvis, preceded him in death.

Max D. Hoch, age 82, Huntington, died at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday (June 13, 2007) at his home.
Mr. Hoch retired from Yellow Freight Transport in 1981. After his retirement, he worked for Smith Furniture for many years. Max was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Third Order of Secular Franciscans. Max helped coordinate the Eucharistic adorations at Ss. Peter & Paul and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Max also was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #414 in Ft.Wayne, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #2689 in Huntington. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1943. During WW II, Max was a corporal with the United States Army in the 328th Infantry Regiment Medical Division.
Max was born on November 29, 1924 in Huntington, the son of Gilbert and Mildred (Smith) Hoch. He married Mary K. Saluke on June 12, 1948 in Huntington.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years - Mary K. Hoch of Huntington; two sons - Max J. (Linda) Hoch of Roanoke, IN and John G. (Sharon) Hoch of Huntington; two daughters - Kathy (Robert) Chwedyk of Algonquin, Illinois and Jane (Ed) Hohe of Huntington; one sister - Marjorie Yoos of Huntington; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One sister Alice Hoch preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday (June 15, 2007) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary with the Rosary Service following at 8:00 p.m. with the Reverend David Ruppert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday (June 16, 2007) at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 840 Cherry Street, Huntington, with Father Ron Rieder and the Reverend David Ruppert officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington. The V.F.W. Post # 2689 will provide the military graveside rites.

Maxine L. Vogelhut, age 83, formerly of Huntington, died Saturday (August 11, 2007) at 8:17 a.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren where she was residing.
Mrs. Vogelhut retired from Square D after 12 years. She also worked in the cafeteria for the Huntington County Community School Corporation for 11 years. Maxine was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Rebecca Howard Group and the Care Bears. A lifetime resident of Huntington County, Maxine graduated from Huntington High School in 1942.
Mrs. Vogelhut was born on December 31, 1923 in Huntington County, the daughter of Ross and Freda (Nolan) Whitacre. She married Brooks Biddle on May 1, 1943 in St. Petersburg, Florida and preceded her in death in 1976. Her second marriage was to Fred Friar in 1955 in Angola, IN and he died in May of 1987. Maxine then married David A. Vogelhut on January 20, 1990 in Huntington and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2004.
Survivors include one son - Alyn Biddle of Ft. Wayne; two daughters - JoEllen (Michael) Stanton of Greenville, South Carolina and Jennifer L. (William) Covey of Huntington; one stepson - Denny Vogelhut of Montana; one stepdaughter - Jennifer (Steve) Mason of Huntington; one brother - Mark Whitacre of Stratford, Connecticut; 8 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A son - Phillip Biddle (1993) two sisters Betty Jane Goodmiller, Wanda Galbreath and a step grandson - Christopher Mason (2005), preceded her in death.

Maybelle E. Pasko, age 91, 1675 East 200 North, Huntington, died Monday (November 14, 2005) at 3:20 pm at Markle Health Care, Markle, IN.
Mrs. Pasko, a lifetime resident of Huntington County, was a homemaker and lived all of her married life in Union Township. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where, in her earlier years, she taught Sunday school, was the Vacation Bible School Director, a Junior Supervisor, performed in Christmas plays and played the coronet in the church band. Maybelle was a member of the Comfort Club in Union Township.
Mrs. Pasko was born on August 21, 1914 in Lancaster, IN, the daughter of the late Samuel Elmer and Lora (Heaston) Minton. She married Leroy Dale Pasko on January 14, 1935 in Huntington County and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1986. Maybelle graduated from Huntington High School in 1932.
Survivors include two sons - Max L. (Judith) Pasko of Ft. Wayne, IN and Phillip D. (Jean) Pasko of Huntington, IN; one sister - Kathryn Beaver of Marion, IN; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Five brothers - Benjamin H. Minton, Ralph W. Minton, Israel H. Minton, Wilbur F. Minton and Walter E. Minton, and one sister - Fern Irene Young, preceded her in death.

Melford J. Schmidt, age 85, 7719 North Goshen Road, Huntington, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday (January 27, 2007) at Timbercrest Senior Living Community in North Manchester, IN.
Mr. Schmidt retired after working 17 years for the International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, and was a lifetime Clear Creek Township Farmer in Huntington County. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne and a graduate of New Haven High School. A veteran of the United States Army Air Force, he served during the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a sergeant during WW II.
Melford was born on June 7, 1921, in Allen County, the son of Arthur and Johanna Brown Schmidt. He married Adele C. Fuelling on January 1, 1944 in Ft. Wayne.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years - Adele C. Schmidt of Huntington; two sons - M. Thomas (Bonnie) Schmidt of Culver, IN and Jacob A. (Dawn) Schmidt of Columbia City, IN; one daughter - Myra J. Schmidt of Columbia City, IN and five grandchildren. A brother, Arthur Schmidt, preceded him in death.

Meritte Green, age 72, 415 West McKeever Street, Andrews, IN, died Wednesday (July 12, 2006) at 4:30 p.m. at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne, IN.
Mr. Green retired in 1986 as a cook for the Ft. Wayne Rescue Mission. Prior to that, he worked 10 years at Kitchen Maid in Andrews, a foreman for Pyle Industries in Huntington for 20 years and operated the Bullfrog Arcade in Andrews for 3 years.
Mr. Green was born on August 27, 1933, in Lake Butler, FL, to Jeff and Reba (Anderson) Green. He married Esther (Anders) Denton on October 31, 1959 and they were married for 20 years.
Survivors include one son - Mike M. (Penny) Green of Huntington; two daughters - Lori L. Green of Huntington and Kathy M. Green of Andrews, IN; one brother - Roger Green of Huntington; four sisters - Mrs. Kenneth (Wilma) Holmes of Huntington, Lenny Earhart of Andrews, IN, Murley Dyer of Andrews, IN and Joyce Garrison of Andrews, IN; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Brothers - Frank Green, Donald Green and Ray Green, preceded him in death.

Merlin Therl Ziegler, age 91, 460 Forks of the Wabash Way, Huntington and formerly of 1565 N. Jefferson St., died at 4:35 p.m. Saturday (September 9, 2006) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mr. Ziegler was a Dallas Township farmer for most of his life and also worked 9 years at the former Lock Steel & Chain in Huntington. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Huntington and a 50-year member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge #344 in Andrews. Mr. Ziegler graduated from Bippus High School in 1934.
Mr. Ziegler was born on December 25, 1914 in Bippus, IN the son of Oren and Luetta (Shrock) Ziegler. A lifetime resident of Huntington County, Therl married Ninamae Garrison on June 19, 1935 in Bippus. She preceded him in death on July 25, 1999.
Survivors include two sons - Rex (Marilyn K.) Ziegler of Huntington and Therl “Dwayne” Ziegler of Huntington and a sister - Mrs. Ronald (Thyra) Norwood of Huntington. Five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and companion - Evelyn Jersey survive as well. A brother - Gale E. Ziegler, daughter-in-laws - Nancy Ziegler and Carolyn Ziegler, and a grandson - Scott Ziegler, preceded him in death.

Michael R. Coolman, age 37, 418 N. Main Street, Warren, IN, died at 1:16 p.m. Saturday (August 12, 2006) at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Mr. Coolman was with the Huntington County Community School Corporation for the past 11 years teaching social studies at Huntington North High School. He also coached for the Huntington North High School Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball Teams, basketball and football at Salamonie Middle School and 2 years for the Riverview Middle School Football Team. Mike was a member of the Loon Creek Church of the Brethren, Huntington County Classroom Teacher Association, Indiana State Teacher’s Association, Indiana State Textbook Adoption Committee and the Board of Zoning Appeals in Warren, IN.
Mr. Coolman was born on October 11, 1968 in Bluffton, IN the son of Wallace and Della A. (Vaughn) Coolman. He graduated from Huntington North High School in 1987 and Purdue University in 1991. A lifetime resident of Huntington County, Mike married Kimberly Scheib on August 3, 1991 in Huntington.
Survivors include his mother - Della A. Coolman of Huntington; his wife of 15 years - Kimberly Coolman of Warren, IN; a son - Jared Coolman at home; a daughter - Jennifer Coolman at home and his brother - Robert Coolman of Bluffton, IN. His father preceded him in death.

Michael D. Lee, age 56, Huntington, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday (July 8, 2008) at his home.
Mr. Lee owned and operated his own truck, driving for Fed-Ex Custom Critical. He drove for more than thirty years. Michael was a sergeant in the United States Army and an avid Beatles fan.
Michael was born June 8, 1952 in Huntington, the son of E. Dale and Madelin (Kirkpatrick) Lee. He graduated from Huntington North High School in 1970. He married Rosalie McKinzie on February 28, 1973 in Huntington, IN.

Mildred E. Thrift, age 103, 1180 West 500 North, Huntington, died at 5:06 a.m. Tuesday (September 26, 2006) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mrs. Thrift taught school at a district school in Clear Creek Township, Lincoln School in Huntington and Washington Center in Whitley County. She was also associated with her husband in his store, Jack Thrift Grocery Store. Mrs. Thrift was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Rebecca-Howard Circle of the church. She also was a member of the Friday Prayer Breakfast Group at the Huntington College, Order of Eastern Star Floral Chapter #75 and the local, state and national Teacher’s Associations.
A lifetime resident of Huntington, Mrs. Thrift graduated from Clear Creek High School and Huntington College where she received her degree in education. She also attended Manchester College.
Mrs. Thrift was born August 12, 1903 to Earl and Ida (Flaugher) McCaughey. She married Jack Thrift on June 28, 1928 in Huntington County and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1983.
Survivors include a daughter - Mrs. Marion (Betty) Schenkel of Huntington, two grandsons - Steven R. Schenkel of North Manchester, IN and W. Kent Schenkel of Huntington, five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Brothers - Paul and Walter McCaughey, and a sister - Dorothy Hodges, preceded her in death.

Mildred L. Wall, age 87, 1180 West 500 North, Huntington, died at 11:45 am Thursday (December 29, 2005) at The Heritage of Huntington.
Mrs. Wall was a teacher for over 30 years retiring from Center Elementary School in Marion. She also taught at Evans Elementary School, in Marion, Union Township School and Jefferson Township School both in Huntington County. Mrs. Wall was a member of the A.D.K. Teachers Sorority and the Camera Club both in Ft. Wayne as well as the Pastime Club, Department Club and the General Motors Sympathy Club all in Marion.
Mrs. Wall was born on March 7, 1918 in Huntington, the daughter of Sherman and Lela (Camblin) Brown. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1936 and received her teaching degree from Ball State Teachers College in Muncie. On August 31, 1940, she married Eldon B. Wall in Huntington.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years - Eldon B. Wall of Huntington; two daughters - Mrs. Paul (Janet) DeWitt of Warren, IN and Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Keiffer of LaFontaine, IN; five brothers - Don Brown of Huntington, Keith Brown of Huntington, Floyd Brown of Huntington, Dale Brown of Warren, IN and Von Brown of Warren, IN; one sister - Betty Jean Brown of Muncie, IN; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. A brother, Ernest Brown, and a sister, Martha Eppard, preceded her in death.

Miriam worked at J.C. Penny for many years in Huntington, IN. She was a member of Loon Creek Church of the Brethren, and the Moose Lodge of Huntington, IN.
Miriam was born on November 25, 1915 in Huntington, IN, the daughter of Everett and Clara (Moss) Paul. She married Elmer Carl Kase May 31,1970 he then died September 10, 1989. She was a 1933 graduate of Huntington Township High School.
Surviving are two Brothers - Glen Paul and Dale Paul of Warren, IN; two Nieces - Mrs. Max (Janice) Husband and Mrs. Ned (Janell) Simons both of Ronaoke, IN; and three Nephews - Jeff Paul and Jim Paul of Huntington, IN, and Kent Paul of Ft. Wayne, IN. Miriam is preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Gerald, Galen and Dean Paul.

Mona Vowell Malone White, age 90, 1180 West 500 North, Huntington, died Friday (May 5, 2006) at 3:09 p.m. at The Heritage of Huntington.
Mrs. White retired, at the age of 79, from Mary Sherman Hospital in Sullivan, IN. She was employed at the hospital for over 37 years in the nursing department. Mona was a lifetime resident of Sullivan, IN moving to Huntington two years ago. Mrs. White was a member of the First Christian Church and the Sullivan County Home Extension Club both in Sullivan, IN.
Mrs. White was born on January 27, 1916, in Sullivan County, IN, the daughter of Charles and MaryBelle Vowell. She was a 1935 graduate of Sullivan High School and received a licensed practical nursing degree. Mona married Ezra Malone in Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1967. Her second marriage was to James White and he died in November of 1983.
Survivors include one son - Donald Ray (Anne) Malone of Huntington; one brother - Donnelly (Betty) Vowell of Fairborn, OH; two grandchildren - Shawn Malone and Shelly Septer and five great-grandchildren -Zachery Septer, Allie Septer, Gabrielle Scout Malone, Jacob Malone Septer and Sarah Anne Malone. A brother - Edward Vowell; sisters - Florence Hendrickson, Velma Maddox and Opal Russell; and a great-granddaughter - Kaitlyn Septer, preceded her in death.

Morris Allen Hoover, age 75, 1612 East 900 North Huntington, died at 5:00 a.m. Saturday (April 28, 2007) at his home.
Mr. Hoover retired in 1994 after 29 1/2 years from General Electric in Ft. Wayne. Prior to that, he was employed as a carpenter and a journeyman electrician. He attended the Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church in Roanoke, IN. Mr. Hoover was a member of the American Legion Post #160 in Roanoke and a past Worshipful Master of the Roanoke Masonic Lodge #195 F & AM. He graduated from Roanoke High School in 1949 and was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Air Force.
Morris was born on May 31, 1931, in Union Township, Huntington County, to William “Dale” and Clarissa (Harvey) Hoover. He married Doris L. Miller on July 24, 1955 in Roanoke.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years - Doris Hoover of Huntington; three sons - Vincent W. Hoover of Huntington, Ted M. (Janet) Hoover of Ft. Wayne, IN and Jeffrey L. (Carla) Hoover of Roanoke, IN; one daughter - Nancy (John) Larkey of Ft. Wayne, IN; one brother - Rex Harold Hoover of Churubusco, IN; and ten grandchildren - Stephanie Hoover, Eric Hoover, Aaron Hoover, Elizabeth Hoover, Jacob Hoover, Jeremy Hoover, Clarissa Hoover, Michelle Hoover, Madison Hoover and Josie Larkey.

Murl L. Buzzard age 65, 170 Tracy Street, Markle, died at 3:30 pm Sunday (August 5, 2007) in the Markle Health Care.
Mr. Buzzard was born on January 19, 1942 in Wabash County, the son of Elbridge & Laura (Kocher) Buzzard. Murl lived with his mother until her death in 1994 then he lived with his brother, Rex Buzzard, until his death in 2006.
Survivors include two brothers - Dean (Barbara) Buzzard of Grand Blanc, MI and Roger (Juanita) Buzzard of Huntington; six nephews, four nieces, nine great-nephews and six great-nieces. Two brothers - Wallace (Ava) Buzzard and Rex (Freda) Buzzard; and one nephew - Hal Buzzard, precede him in death.
There will be no visitation. Private family graveside services will be held at the Mt. Etna Cemetery, Saturday (August 11, 2007) with Chaplain Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery, Mt. Etna, IN.

Myra J. Shivley, age 80, 4554 West 100 South, Huntington, died at 8:51 p.m. Thursday (September 6, 2007) at her home.
Mrs. Shivley retired from nursing in 1987 working as a registered nurse for Huntington Memorial Hospital and Miller’s Merry Manor both for over 10 years. Myra was a member of Loon Creek Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1945 and received her nursing degree from Ball State University in 1948.
Myra was born on June 30, 1927, in Huntington, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Brubaker) Huston. Her first marriage was to Charles Morrett who preceded her in death on October 19, 1979. She then wed Bernard “Spike” Shivley on October 6, 1984 in Huntington and he died on April 25, 2001.
Survivors include a son - John R. (Linda) Morrett of Ossian, IN; one daughter - Cheri (Jim) Soulier of Ft. Wayne, IN; one brother - David (Patricia) Huston of Montpelier, IN; one sister - Rosemary Eberly of North Webster, IN; two stepsons - Garry (Bev) Shivley of Huntington and Jim (Bev) Shivley of Huntington; one stepdaughter - Mary (Jim) Speidel of Greentown, IN; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren and 21 step great-grandchildren. A son - Charles Richard Morrett, three brothers - Frank Huston, Jr., Martin Huston and Richard Huston, a sister - Camilla Eckert, and a step grandchild preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Monday (September 10, 2007) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (September 11, 2007) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Kellie Herber officiating. Burial will be in the Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington County.

Nadine E. Turner, age 87, 221 Rosewood Alley, Huntington, died at 2:23 a.m. Saturday (December 15, 2007) at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home of Ft. Wayne.
Mrs. Turner was a homemaker and worked for Memcor for over 10 years, retiring in 1964. Nadine was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Huntington. She resided in the South Whitley area until moving to Huntington in 1959.
Nadine was born on July 10, 1920 in South Whitley the daughter of Clarence and Nellie (Coble) Miller.
Survivors include one son - Gerald (Lenora) Bolinger of Anderson, IN; two daughters - Barbara Baumgartner of Syracuse, IN and Shirley (Blaine) Peters of Findley, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Three brothers, three sisters, and a grandson - Gerald Bolinger, Jr. preceded her in death.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday (December 18, 2007) at the South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, IN. Dr. John Backus will officiate with burial following thereafter.

Neil Bryce Hacker, age 89, Huntington, died at 11:20 pm Friday (March 17, 2006) at The Heritage House, Huntington, IN.
Mr. Hacker was a farmer and worked in Farm Drainage for Majenica Tile Company from 1954 till he retired in 1988. He was a 1935 graduate of Lancaster High School, Huntington Co., IN. Mr. Hacker was a member of the Majenica Methodist Church.
Mr. Hacker was born on May 18, 1916 in Lancaster Twp. Huntington County, IN, the son of Roy Eckman Hacker and Eva Mae (Potts) Hacker. In 1936, he married Evelyn L. (Mills) in Majenica, IN. She preceded him in death on September 3, 2000.
Survivors include three sons - Joe Roy Hacker, Jack Mills Hacker and Robert Neil Hacker all of Huntington; three brothers - John A. Hacker of Huntington, IN., James R. Hacker of Elkart, IN., and Jay P. Hacker of Indianapolis, IN.; two sisters - Mrs. Carolyn Fortress of Ft. Wayne, IN., and Mrs. John (Kay) Jessup of Fairmount, IN.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Hacker was preceded in death by a sister - Mrs. Frank (Charlotte) Boxell.
Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm Monday (March 20, 2006) at Bailey- Love Mortuary. Funeral Services will be at 2 pm Tuesday (March 21, 2006) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. August (Gus) Hacker officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County.
