Joe H. Boetsma
January 28, 1921 - February 17, 2008
Joe Boetsma, former Culver resident, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and
great grandfather, entered eternity to be home with the Lord Sunday, February
17. He lived with his wife, son and daughter-in-law in Gilbert , AZ. He was born
January 28, 1921 to Joe and Dessie Warren Boetsma who have preceded him
in death. He is survived by the love of his life, Thelma Harris Boetsma , who he
married on October 5, 1940. He was preceded in death by daughter and
son-in-law Sandra and Clyde Craft. He is survived by children Larry ( Anita )
Boetsma, Debra (Allen) Mechling and Cynthia (Timothy) Decker. He is also
survived by 9 grandchildren - Steven Boetsma and Erica Partin, Daniel,
Stephanie and Isaac Mechling, and Caleb, Kyle, Kirsten and Colson Decker and
5 great grandchildren - Harry and Austin Partin, Sierra and Michael Boetsma,
and Gavin Mechling. Joe worked in his family re-upholstery and then new
furniture business in Culver IN. for nearly 40 years. He and his wife of 67 years
moved to Hobe Sound, Florida in 1979. There he continued to work in a drapery
business. He was a true craftsman when it came to making things for the home.
They moved to Indianapolis in 1999 and went to Gilbert AZ in December 2006.
He was active in and supportive of his church wherever he lived. He will be
greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Arrangements are entrusted to Bonine-Odom Funeral Home 104 E. Lake Shore
Dr.Culver, IN. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, February 24 from
3-7 p.m. The funeral will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday, February 25
with visitation one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made
to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix AZ 85014-5656.

Thelma N. Boetsma
December 16, 1923 - April 19, 2008
Thelma Harris Boetsma, 84, beloved mother, grandmother, and great
grandmother, stepped into eternity to be home with the Lord Saturday,
April 19. She lived with her son and daughter-in-law in Gilbert , AZ. She
was born December 16, 1923 in Star City, Saskatchewan , Canada, to
Fred and Maude Savage Harris Kneeves who have preceded her in
death. She was preceded in death by husband, Joe Boetsma,
daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Clyde Craft, Brothers Francis and
Clarence Harris, Sisters Margie Kreighbaum, and Edna Brower.
She is survived by sister Rena Follmer, children Larry (Anita) Boetsma,
Debra (Allen) Mechling and Cynthia (Timothy) Decker. She is also
survived by 9 grandchildren, Steven Boetsma and Erica Partin, Daniel,
Stephanie and Isaac Mechling, and Caleb, Kyle, Kirsten and Colson
Decker and 5 great grandchildren Harry and Austin Partin, Sierra and
Michael Boetsma, and Gavin Mechling. Thelma worked in the family
re-upholstery and then new furniture business in Culver IN. She and her

volunteered at a Chapel Crusaders Mission. They moved to
Indianapolis in 1999 and went to Gilbert AZ in December 2006. She will
be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Arrangements are
entrusted to Bonine-Odom Funeral Home in Culver, IN. Visitation will be
Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 3-6 p.m. and Monday from 1-2 p.m.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Monday April 28, 2008 at the Funeral
Home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E
Flower St. Phoenix, AZ. 85014.

Dr. Col. Carl R. Boyd
July 14, 1943 - August 25, 2008
Dr. Col. Carl R. Boyd, 65 of Culver, Indiana, died on August 25, 2008, August
25, 2008 at Harmony Guest Home in Hillsboro, Orgeon.
Carl was born to Carl M. Boyd and Rosemary Ritter on July 14, 1943 in Paoli,
Indiana. He was married to Cherylynn Moraczewski. She survives.
He is also survived by his sons - Michael Boyd of Chandler, Arizona and
James Boyd of Hillsboro, Oregon; and sister - Rosemary Avery of Washington
D.C. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home in Culver, Indiana on
August 30, 2008 from 10:00AM - 1:00PM. Rev. Ron Lewellen will officiate the
service which will take place at 1:00PM on August 30, 2008 at Bonine-Odom
Funeral Home, Culver, Indiana. Interment will follow at the Culver Masonic
Cemetery in Culver, Indiana.
Memorials may be given to the Gideons International.

David M. Burns
December 8, 1934 - August 12, 2007
David M. Burns, 72 of 5975 S 250 E, Knox, Indiana, died at 5:36 AM on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Starke Memorial Hospital in
Knox, Indiana.
David was born to David B. Burns and Frieda M. Reed on December 8, 1934 in Culver, Indiana. He was married on May 31, 1953 at
Burr Oak, IN to Shirley A. Osborn. She survives.
David is survived by his wife - Shirley A. Burns of Knox, Indiana, Sons - David M. (LuAnn) Burns of Wanatah, Indiana, Gregory A.
(Debrah) Burns of Knox, Indiana, Keith B. (Charlotte) Burns of Kewanna, Indiana, and William D. Burns of Knox, Indiana, Brothers -
Douglas K. Burns of Plymouth, Indiana, and Rick Burns of Tennessee, Sisters - Betty (Edward) Rosebaum of Hanna, Indiana, Nancy
(Joe) Jimenez of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Helen Norman of Akron, Indiana, 8 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Father - David B. Burns, Mother - Frieda M. Burns, and Sister - Eunice A. Schrimsher.
Visitation will be at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver, IN from 11:00 - 2:00PM on Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Rev. Tim Doss will
officiate the service which will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver, Indiana.
Interment will follow at the Culver Masonic Cemetery in Culver, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be given to Culver Union Township Fire Dept. or the Freewill Baptist Church of North Judson.

Donald L. Carter
February 9, 1930 - July 31, 2008
Donald L. Carter, 78, of Fairhope, AL, formerly of Culver, passed
away at 10:30AM on July 31, 2008 at his home.
He was born on Feb 9, 1930 at Hammond, IN to Ernest and Goldie
(Good) Carter. He was married on Dec 5, 1952 in Pensacola, FL
to Agnes Nolen. She survives.
Donald was a retired draftsman for Monsanto Fibers in Pensacola.
He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a
member of the Scenic Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his son - Dr. Randy
(Heidi) Carter of Sandy, Utah; grandchildren - Austin & Lauren
Carter of Salt Lake City, Utah, and L Cpl. Brandon Carter of Camp
Pendleton, CA; brother - Shirley (Margie) Carter of Plymouth, IN;
sister - Phlyyis Adams of Argos, IN; brother-in-law - Frank Nolen of
Pensacola, FL; and sisters-in-law - Janice Carter of Plymouth, IN,
Sharon Carter of Rochester, IN, and Jessie Perry of Abbeville, AL.
One brother preceded him in death.
Visitation with the family will be held from 10 - 11:30AM on Wed.
August 6, 2008 at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home in Culver, IN.
Graveside services will be officiated by Rev. Larry Saunders at
12:00 noon at the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Leukemia Society of
Covenant Hospice, Daphne, Alabama.

Allen B. Chesser Sr.
October 5, 1927 - September 16, 2007
Allen B. Chesser Sr., 79, of Culver passed away at
1:25PM on Sept 16, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor in
Culver.
Allen was born on Oct 5, 1927 in Wheeling, West Virginia,
one of 3 children born to Arnold and Laura (Winter)
Chesser.
Allen joined the US Army at the age of 16, proudly serving
his country during the Occupational Forces and the
Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He earned many awards
and decorations for meritorious service to his country.
While serving overseas, Allen fell in love and married
Katharina Preywisch on August 20, 1952 in Straubing,
West Germany. They were blessed with 2 children.
After 26 years of service as a Command Sergeant Major,
Allen retired from the Army. He worked for Young Door
Co in Plymouth and later retired after many years as office
manager.
Allen loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the
Finney-Shilling VFW Post 6919 of Culver and the
Collins-Tasch American Legion Post 399 of Monterey.
Allen is survived by his daughter Frances Bowers of
Flatrock, NC, son Allen (Mary) Chesser Jr of Culver, IN,
granddaughter Emily (Andrew) Schouten of Rochester, IN,
and grandsons Alex (Janel) Chesser of Oterbein, IN and
Carl Chesser of Kansas City, MO.
Friends may join the family in remembering and
celebrating Allen's life on Friday, Sept 21, 2007 from 4:00
- 8:00PM EST at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver.
Rev. Henry Sprunger will officiate funeral services on Sat.
Sept 22, 2007 at 10:00AM EST at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Culver Masonic Cemetery.

Theodore J. Conklin
Theodore J. Conklin of Phoenix, AZ, died at 3:15 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Eckstein Center in Scottsdale,
Arizona.
Ted was born to John Conklin and Edith Terry on February 26, 1927 in Culver, Indiana. He was married on December 14,
1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Barbara J. Kent. She survives.
Ted was the former owner/operator of Conodo, Inc., an import business, a member of the United Methodist Church and the
Mishawaka Lodge 130 Free and Accepted Masons.
In addition to his wife, Ted is survived by his Son - John E. (Peggy) Conklin of Tallahassee, FL, Daughter - Linda Barrett of St.
Michaels, MD, Grandson - Eric J. Conklin of Moline, IL, Granddaughter - Catherine L. Pratt of St. Michaels, MD. and niece -
Cindy (Jeffrey) Keenan of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
There will be no visitation. Rev. Rob Mace will officiate the graveside service which will take place at 11:00 AM on
Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Culver Masonic Cemetery. Interment will follow.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.

Danny R. Ehlinger
November 28, 1950 - March 15, 2008
Danny R. Ehlinger, 57 of 2695 S 700 E, Knox,
Indiana, died at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 15,
2008 at Starke Memorial Hospital in Knox, Indiana.
Danny was born to Harland (Bud) Ehlinger and Peggy
Hunter on November 28, 1950 in Rochester, Indiana.
He was married on December 14, 1968 at Culver,
Indiana to Sharon Thomas.
He is survived by his Wife - Sharon Ehlinger of Knox,
Indiana, Sons - Guy Edward Ehlinger of Manistee,
Michigan, and Danny Ray Ehlinger Jr. of Constantine,
Michigan, Daughter - Shannon Shepherd of Culver,
Indiana, Brother - Donnie (Betty) Ehlinger of Knox,
Indiana, and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by his Father - Harland Ehlinger.
Visitation will be at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 2:00M - 8:00PM and 1
hour before service . Rev. Ron Lewellen will officiate
the service which will take place at 12:00 PM on
Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Bonine-Odom
Funeral Home, Culver, Indiana. Interment will follow at
the Moon Cemetery in Kewanna, Indiana.

Mitchell R. Elsea
March 30, 1944 - March 12, 2008
Mitchell R. Elsea, 63, of Culver, IN passed away on March
12, 2008 at 9:15PM at his home in Burr Oak.
Mitchell was born on March 30, 1944 in Harlan, Kentucky
to William and Emma Elsea.
He is survived by his wife - Darlene Elsea of Culver,
step-son - Brian K. (Deb) Cites of Nappanee, IN,
daughters - Linda Bradford of Plymouth, IN, Michelle
(Denver) Annis of Culver and Rebecca (Brian) Shepard of
Knox, IN; brothers - Charles Elsea of Kentucky and
Thomas Elsea of Nappanee, IN; sisters Mae Powers and
Ollie Polard of Clarksville, IN; 7 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, and
three brothers.
There will be a visitation with the family at the
Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver, IN on March 15,
2008 from 3:00 - 6:00PM EDT. There will be no services.

Scott A. Geiselman
Feb 9, 1945 - Feb 4, 2008
Scott A Geiselman, 62, of Culver, IN passed away at 6:10PM on Feb 4, 2008 at Miller's Merry Manor, Culver.
Scott was born on Feb 9, 1945 in South Bend, IN, one of two sons born to Ralph and Frances (Taber) Geiselman of
Culver. While in 8th grade, he was asked by William Osborn to run a movie in the basement of the State Exchange Bank
for a group of farmers. Scott graduated from Culver High School in 1963, where he was a member of the video club. He
attended Radio Electronic & Television School in South Bend after graduation. He was married on Aug 6, 1967 in Argos,
IN to Patty Hammond. She survives.
Scott was a member of Local 187 IATSE of South Bend and was an avid lover of the theater. The highlight of his career
was being the projectionist for the premiere screening of the movie, Rudy. He was forced to retire in 1995 due to ill
health. He was a cat lover - especially his cat, Cotton. He was also a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents and wife, Scott is survived by his brother - Ralph Edward (Cindy) Geiselman of West Lake
Village, CA and niece & nephew - Garianna and Grant Geiselman.
A time of remembrance with Scott's family will be at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb 7, 2008 from
4:00 - 8:00PM EST. Rev. Bryan Siefert and Rev. Lloyd Howard will officiate funeral services on Friday, Feb 8, 2008 at
2:00PM EST at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 511 School Street, Culver. Interment will follow at Culver Masonic
Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Marshall Co. Humane Society or Wesley United Methodist Church.
