Norma J. Hines
Services for Norma J. Hines, 70, of 1501 N. Third St., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
She died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 1999, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born in Logansport on June 17, 1928, she was the daughter of Merle and Effie Fay Sprawl Gallaway. On April 4, 1948, in the Royal Center E.U.B. parsonage, she was married to Donald E. Hines, who survives.
Mrs. Hines, a homemaker, enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Also surviving are four daughters, Alicia Mullinix, Nashville, Tenn., Emily Artrip, Logansport, Patty Slaughter, Columbus, and Lori Hines, Mooresville; one son, Brian Hines, Logansport; one brother, Richard Gallaway, Logansport; seven sisters, Eleanor Scagnoli, Rozella Mayhill, Marjorie Donato, Virginia Ricci, and Joan Hopper, all of Logansport, Carol Abston, Frankfort, and Judy Drummond, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; three grandsons, Andrew and Daniel Mullinix and Ryan Artrip; and one granddaughter, Joni Mullinix.
The Rev. William Art Maloney will officiate at the services. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association.
Helen M. McKinley
DENVER -- Graveside services for Helen Mae McKinley, 64, of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Logansport.
She died at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 1999, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born Dec. 25, 1934, in Howard County, she was the daughter of William Howard and Mary E. Hance Pierce. On Jan. 1, 1955, at the home of the late Rev. Harley Fisher west of Mexico, she was married to James E. McKinley, who survives.
Mrs. McKinley was a homemaker, wife and mother of three children and six granddaughters whom she loved with all her heart.
Also surviving are two daughters and their spouses, Becky Sue and Dennis Peter, Logansport, and Jill Ann and Kevin Patterson, Kokomo; one son and his wife, Michael J. and Deloris McKinley, Logansport; one sister and brother-in-law, Sue Ann and Robert Hendrix, Kokomo; two half sisters, Cindy Hodson, Kokomo, and Mary Jo Hodson, Galveston; one stepsister and her husband, Betty Jo and Robert Lee, Galveston; three stepbrothers and their spouses, Harold and Marcia Hodson, and Jim and Betty Hodson, all of Galveston, and George and Jayne Swing, Illinois; and six granddaughters, Jennifer L. Guillory, Amanda and Trista Peter, Sara Patterson, and Michelle and Paige McKinley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a half brother, John Hodson, two stepsisters, Margaret Phillips and Doris Switzer, one stepbrother, Everett Hodson, and her stepfather, Joe Hodson.
Jay McKinley will officiate at the services.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Twelve Mile First Responders.

He died at 8:47 p.m. Friday, June 4, 1999, in Brethren Healthcare Center.
Pastor Larry DeVos will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Fred Irvin Layne
ROCHESTER -- Services for Fred Irvin Layne, 83, of 949 Park St., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Foster & Good Funeral Home.
He died at 5:42 p.m. Friday, June 4, 1999, in Lifecare Center.
Born Dec. 15, 1915, in Prestonburg, Ky., he was the son of George and Betty Perry Layne. On Dec. 14, 1944, in Paintsville, Ky., he was married to Ida Marsillett, who survives.
He was a former coal miner in Kentucky and an employee of Rochester Metal Products, retiring from there in 1980.
In 1961, he had moved to the Rochester area from Floyd County, Ky.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in the South Pacific Theater.
Also surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary and Gerald Young, Rochester, and Lo Ann Layne, Nashville, Tenn.; five grandsons, Adam Howard, Rochester, Shane K. Janeksela, Nashville, Tenn., Mark Layne and Freddie Layne, both of Wabash, and Mike Layne, Peru; one brother, Russell Layne, Prestonburg, Ky.; and three great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Freddie Layne and Ray Layne, two sisters and three brothers preceded in death.
The Rev. Kenneth Castleman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Carl L. Redmon
PERU -- Graveside services for Carl L. Redmon, 86, of 700S and Strawtown Pike, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.
He died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 1999, at his residence.
The Rev. Steve Fleck will officiate at the services.
Friends may call from noon Monday until the time of services in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
Janet M. Leydet
Services for Janet M. Leydet, 80, of 1415 Wright St., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Marocco Funeral Chapel.
She died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, June 6, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 11, 1918, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Harry and Bertha Bowles McNaught. On May 1, 1936, also in Logansport, she was married to Charles L. Leydet, who survives.
A graduate of Logansport High School, Mrs. Leydet was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and working in her yard.
She was a member of the Baptist Temple as well as the ladies’ auxiliaries of the Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Logansport.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Richard Banta, Logansport, three sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard L. Leydet, Rochester, Mac Leydet, Logansport, and Frederick and Donetta Leydet, Vincennes; one sister, Gussie Norzinskay, Logansport; one brother, Harry F. McNaught, Morgantown; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-granchildren.
Three sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter preceded in death.
Pastor Charles T. Sikler will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel.

She died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, June 4, 1999, at Wabash Healthcare Center, Wabash.

Herman G. Steinseifer
Herman G. Steinseifer, 81, of 5025 Waterbury Court, died at 12:40 a.m. today at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
Daniel N. Ballard
Services for Daniel N. Ballard, 87, of 720 Glenway Dr., will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
He died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, June 6, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born in Walton on Dec. 18, 1911, he was the son of Walter and Josephine Sullivan Ballard. On July 31, 1943, in Logansport, he was married to Mary A. Thatcher, who survives.
Mr. Ballard had been a teacher and coach of various sports in the Logansport area for 45 years, retiring from the Logansport Community School Corporation in 1975.
He enjoyed all sports, especially fishing and surf-fishing in the ocean. For the past 25 years, he spent winters in Brownsville, Texas.
Survivors include one daughter, Fonda Parrett,Arlene Hittle 06/07/99 cq Logansport; one sister, Mary Alice Henning, Eustis, Fla.; two granddaughters, Alicia Eller and her husband John, and Dana Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Jordan and Dylan Eller, and Sydney Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Ruth Hoover, and a son-in-law, Tom Parrett, preceded in death.
The Rev. Roger Cochran will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Services for Herman G. Steinseifer, 81, of 5025 Waterbury Court, formerly of Morton Grove, Ill., will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 12:40 a.m. Monday, June 7, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born April 26, 1918, in Eiserfeld, Germany, he was the son of Herman and Emelie Kretzer Steinseifer. On June 22, 1940, in Chicago, he was married to Ruth Beichler, who survives.
Mr. Steinseifer was a retired tool and die maker. He attended New Life Alliance Church.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Barbara Steinseifer, Prairieview, Ill.; three daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Larry Nau, Elkhorn, Wis., Trudy and David LaBenne, Dearborn Heights, Mich., and Debbie and Dr. Paul Rober, Logansport; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Liz Steinseifer, Calif.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Clark, Wis., and Margaret and Joe Key, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Scott and Kimberly Rowe, Dawn and Tim LaBenne, Vicki Collier, and Allison, Eric, Abigail, and Lucas Rober; and two great-grandsons, Derek and Anthony Rowe.
David LaBenne and Pastor Fred Drye will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Richard L. Spahr
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. -- Services for Richard Lee Spahr, 74, of Blaine, Minn., will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Brookdale Covenant Church, 5139 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center.
He died Sunday, June 6, 1999, in Blaine. Surrounded by his loving family, he went home to be with the Lord.
Born Feb. 21, 1925, in Frankfort, he was the son of Gerald and Agnes Spahr, formerly of Logansport.
Richard served his country in the armed forces for three years during World War II.
He and his beloved wife of 44 years, Norma, spent 42 rewarding years in Ethiopia serving Christ with Sudan Interior Mission. After retiring in 1993, Richard served as Visitation Pastor for Brookdale Covenant Church in Brooklyn Center.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah and Reed Jorgenson, Brookings, S.D., and MaryAnn Spahr, Blaine, Minn.; one son and his wife, Gordon and Dawn Spahr, Warrenville, Ill.; a dear sister, Mary Eilene Moore, Logansport; an aunt, Elizabeth Harwood, also of Logansport; and six grandchildren, Brock and Brooks VanDyke, Katie Jorgenson, Tessa and Zachary Spahr, and Jordan Spahr.
There will be no visitation. Private burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Fort Snelling, Minn.
Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, is in charge of arrangements.
