Kirch G. Heckathorn

FULTON -- Services for Kirch G. Heckathorn, 97, of Nyona Lake, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Fulton Chapel.

He died at 5:35 p.m. Monday, June 14, 1999, in ExtendaCare of Rochester.

The Rev. George Hapner will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before services Thursday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fulton United Methodist Church and the American Emphysema Society.

Esther M. Hamilton

Esther M. Hamilton, 84, of 733 Indian Creek Road, died at 6:32 a.m. today in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.

Mary L. Marianski

WINAMAC -- Mary L. Marianski, 88, of 30 EMS C17 Lane, Warsaw, formerly of Winamac, died at 7:14 a.m. Monday in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

Arrangements are pending at Frain Mortuary.

Winifred L. Patten

Services for Winifred L. Patten, 83, of 728 Prospect Dr., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

She died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 14, 1915, in Huntington, she was the daughter of Ernest and Effie Chesterman Elliott. She was married Dec. 17, 1965, also in Huntington, to Charles Patten, who survives.

Mrs. Patten was a retired surgical nurse from Huntington Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Logansport.

Also surviving are a son, Donald M. Bosh, Lansdale, Pa.; one stepson, Charles J. Patten, Spivey, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Susan Baumgardner, Logansport; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

One son, one brother and three sisters preceded in death.

The Rev. Michael Dominick will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour before the services Friday in the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.

Rashelle Marie Culture-Hipsher

Services for Rashelle Marie Culture-Hipsher, 13, of 8735N 600W, Royal Center, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

She died at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis.

Born Sept. 22, 1985, in Logansport, Rashelle was the daughter of Donald and Dorena Hayes Hipsher.

A student at Pioneer Junior-Senior High School, Rashelle had just completed seventh grade. She was an honor roll scholar and played the flute in the school band.

Rashelle loved to read, enjoyed art and liked to draw pictures.

Surviving in addition to her parents are two brothers, Richard Hipsher and Bill Hipsher, both of Royal Center; two sisters, Sara Hipsher and Emma Hipsher, both of Royal Center; paternal grandparents, Richard E. Hipsher, Logansport, and Jane Hipsher, Muncie; maternal grandparents, Robert Hayes, Logansport, and Pam Hayes, Logansport; paternal great-grandmother, Lenora Hipsher, Logansport; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Rev. Gerhardt F. Hallman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Riley Hospital for Children.

Esther L. Roberson

FLORA -- Services for Esther L. Roberson, 82, formerly of 965 N. Water St., Camden, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Baker Funeral Home.

She died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, in Brethren Healthcare Center.

Born Nov. 28, 1916, in Flora, she was the daughter of Jacob H. and Mary Smiley Pullen. On Jan. 4, 1939, in Camden, she was married to Raymon H. Roberson, who survives.

Mrs. Roberson lived in Camden for more than 50 years. She was a 1936 graduate of Flora High School, and had been employed at Peters Revington, Delphi, and Co-Upholstering, Camden.

She belonged to Camden Baptist Church and was a member of the Camden chapter of Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are three sons, Tim W. Roberson, Delphi, Gary Roberson, Missouri, and C.J. Roberson, Morganton, N.C.; a brother, Robert Pullen, Flora; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and a sister preceded in death.

The Rev. Richard Recher and the Rev. Ray Harrimon will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mussellman Cemetery, Camden.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Camden Baptist Church.

Winifred L. Patten

MONTICELLO -- Services for Dallas E. Johnson, 61, of 320 N. Beach Dr., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.

He died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in White County Memorial Hospital.

The Revs. James Goodrum and Robert Fosselman will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the White County Red Cross.

Voris Chapman

FLORA -- Voris Chapman, 86, of 4823N 275W, Delphi, died at 10:38 p.m. Wednesday in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at Baker Funeral Home.

Dan Byers

DENVER -- Dan Byers, 36, of Twelve Mile, died at 6:39 p.m. Thursday in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at McClain Funeral Home.

Arden Scheffer

WINAMAC -- Arden Scheffer, 73, of Monterey, died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, Carmel.

Arrangements are pending at Frain Mortuary.

Carl D. Davis

ROCHESTER -- Services for Carl DeWitt Davis, 93, of Life Care Center of Rochester, formerly of the Talma area, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in Life Care Center, following two months of failing health.

Father John Zahn will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Foster & Good Funeral Home, where a prayer vigil and recitation of the rosary will take place at 7 p.m.

William E. 'Bill' Powell

Memorial services for William E. "Bill" Powell, 61, of 327 W. Northern Ave., will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 800 E. Broadway, where he worshipped.

Bill died at 10:05 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, in his residence. He had been ill since December 1995.

Born Feb. 10, 1938, in Logansport, he was the only son of Florence Kasch Powell and the late Harry E. Powell. He was married on April 19, 1969, to Cheryl Stark, who survives.

Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Logansport High School class of 1955, and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959, including a tour of duty in France. He attended DeVry Institute in Chicago in 1959, the ESSROC Kiln Seminar in Chicago in 1994, and Ivy Tech State College computer awareness sessions (through ESSROC).

An employee of ESSROC Materials, Inc. for 37 1/2 years, Bill was a control room operator and was dedicated to doing his best for his employer. Unable to complete his final year of employment due to cancer, Bill had to retire, which he deeply regretted.

An avid trap shooter and hunter, Bill was a member of L'Anguille Pistol Shooters, the National Rifle Association and the Isaak Walton League, where he was able to enjoy God's beautiful outdoors and the fellowship of other members. Bill was a firm believer in gun safety at all times. For many years he enjoyed an annual deer-hunting trip to Arkansas, as well as hunting locally.

However, Bill will mostly be remembered for his dedication to family, church, work and friends. He always gave God the credit for everything in his life, the good and the not-so-good. Although a quiet man, his actions spoke volumes. Bill used his spiritual gifts of Wisdom and Serving well.

"Enjoy life while you can," was a quote Bill used often, even before his illness. Bill was a 3 1/2 year member of the local American Cancer Society Support Group of Cass County and participated in the first ACS Relay for Life in Cass County.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Cheryl, and his mother, Florence, both of Logansport, are one son, Eugene William (Bill Jr.) Powell, Logansport; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tina Morris, Denver, Colo., and Pamela Powell-Warden and Jim Warden, Indianapolis; one sister, Jane Fehtholz, Delphi; five grandchildren, Madison Dayle and Alec William Warden, Indianapolis, Jennifer Lynn and Brandon Eugene Powell, Logansport, and Amanda Jayne Powell, Denver; and two stepgrandchildren, Morgan and Myranda Warden, Indianapolis.

A grandson, Matthew Jacob Powell, preceded him to Heaven.

The Revs. Michael Dominick and Andrew Martin will officiate at the memorial service.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of the services Sunday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County chapter of the American Cancer Society and First United Methodist Church.

McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Emma F. 'Flossie' Hawk

ROCHESTER -- Memorial services for Emma F. "Flossie" Hawk, of Leiters Ford, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Foster & Good Funeral Home.

She died at 10:26 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, as a result of injuries sustained in a May 31 auto accident.

Robert Metzger will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Leiters Ford Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Dannie Joe Byers

DENVER -- Services for Dannie Joe Byers, 36, of Twelve Mile, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in McClain Funeral Home.

He died at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 8, 1962, in Logansport, he was the son of Charles T. and Joan Parkman Byers. On Feb. 17, 1989, in the Metea Baptist Church, he was married to Karmen Kay Hopkins, who survives.

Mr. Byers was employed by Indiana Packers, Delphi. He was a member of the House of Faith, Mexico, and belonged to the Cass County Farm Bureau.

Also surviving are his parents, Charles and Joan Byers, Twelve Mile; one son, Joshua David, and three daughters, Sheena Marie, Kayla Rena, and Erica Michelle Byers, all of Twelve Mile; three brothers, Sparky Byers, Shawn Byers, and Steven Byers, all of Twelve Mile; and two sisters, Cindy Benevides, Albuquerque, N.M., and Ivy McCaulay, Greentown.

Pastor Larry Cook and the Rev. Bryan Clemens will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Metea Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Byers Children Trust Fund.

Voris L. Chapman

FLORA -- Services for Voris L. Chapman, 86, of 4823N 275W, Delphi, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Baker Funeral Home.

He died at 10:38 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.

Born Feb. 10, 1913, in Carroll County, he was the son of Earl and Mabel Leslie Chapman. On Nov. 23, 1940, in Flora, he was married to Mary Jane Smith, who survives.

A lifetime farmer, Mr. Chapman was a 1931 graduate of Camden High School and belonged to Rockfield Presbyterian Church.

Also surviving are a son, Michael L. Chapman, Delphi; a daughter, Pixie A. Gordon, Indianapolis; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pastor Shan Sheridan will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Camden Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rockfield Presbyterian Church.

Dale C. Drudge

ROCHESTER -- Services for Dale C. Drudge, 71, of 1323 Jackson Blvd., Rochester, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zimmerman Family Funeral Home.

He died at 4:52 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, in his residence.

The Rev. Junior Bose will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
