Albert Earl Rife, 77, of Paulding, Ohio, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at home.
The Paulding, Ohio, native retired in 1987 after 40 years as owner and operator of Rife's Barber Shop, Paulding. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and VFW Post 587. He served on the Paulding City Council from 1962 to 1966 and was mayor of Paulding from 1966 to 1970 and 1984 to 1988. He was a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Genevieve R.; sons Roger of Swanton, and Jeffery of Fort Wayne; daughters Alice Fasman of St. Louis, Mo., and Barbara Koch of Paulding; a brother, Jack of Warsaw; a sister, Donna Dangler of Paulding; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulding. Calling will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with an 8 p.m. wake service at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Burial with military graveside services will be at Paulding Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are to Paulding County Visiting Nurses Hospice or Masses.

Helen Elaine Gaskill Crouch, 89, of Pierceton, a member of Pierceton United Methodist Church, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
The Auburn native was a homemaker and was a member of Pierceton Home Economics Club and United Methodist Women. Surviving are sons Jim of South Whitley, and Joe of Anderson; a daughter, Janet Mishler of Pierceton; a brother, Harold Gaskill of North Webster; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with calling from 2:30 to 4:30 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

The Cissna Park, Ill., native was a homemaker. Surviving are sons James L. and Thomas A., both of Bluffton; a daughter, Berniece Troxel of Bluffton; brothers Elmer J. and Harold F. Isch, both of Bluffton; sisters Amelia Baine of Bluffton, and Dorothy Frank of Liberty Center; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; a brother; and three sisters. Florine N. Sprunger, 92, of Berne, a member of Grace Bible Church, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Swiss Village Nursing Home.

Sprunger of Berne; brothers Ken Augsburger of Muncie, and Clyde Augsburger of Berne; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard; and two sisters. Virginia M. "Jeny" Fawley, 74, of Butler, died Monday, March 4, 2002, at Laurels of DeKalb, Butler.
The Fort Wayne native, who loved to travel and garden, retired in 1988 after 15 years as an assembler for General Electric. Surviving are her parents, Bessie Tumblin and Garry Fawley, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at D.O. Isaac Kirk Davidson
Isaac Kirk Davidson, 89, of Lagro, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
The Oblong, Ill., native liked fishing, camping, and playing the guitar and harmonica. He worked for 24 years as a production worker at Celotex Corp., the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Forestry Division, and Indiana State Highway Department. He also had lawn mower, automotive, radio and television repair shops. Surviving are daughters Viola Mowery, Linda Howard, Velma Crull and Rose M. Kendall, all of Wabash, Carolyn Mowery of Marion, and Rowena Goad of Fort Wayne; sons Gerald, Nolan and Leonard, all of North Manchester, Wendell and Randall, both of Lagro, and Allan of Wabash; a sister, Loyette Boggs of Huntington; 36 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel I.; three daughters; and a brother. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Manchester Avenue Chapel, Wabash, with calling from 2 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at Falls Cemetery, Wabash. The Jackson Township native was a lifelong farmer and worked at the Lima Tank Depot during World War II. Surviving are his daughter, Ramona K. Gephart of Decatur; a brother, Glenn O. of Rockford; a sister, Betty J. Miller of Grover Hill; five grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; 10 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. She loved word searches, puzzles and baking, and was a homemaker. Surviving are a son, Ronald of Crossville; a sister, Pauline Morrell of Fort Wayne; her parents, Frank and Anna Hunt; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The Fort Wayne native, who enjoyed golfing, RV-ing, fencing and Christmas decorating, was owner of ARAB Pest Control for 43 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
