Thelma A. Deane, 91, of Chase Center, formerly of 739 Spencer St., died at 3:25 p.m. Monday in Chase Center.
Arrangements are pending at Kroeger Funeral Home.
Robert W. Klein
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Memorial services for Robert W. Klein, 74, of Spartanburg, S.C., formerly of Logansport, will be held at a later date.
He died Thursday, June 10, 1999, in Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 25, 1924, in Logansport, he was the son of Dr. Walter and Mary Guyton Klein. He was married to C. Joan Kivett Klein, formerly of Logansport, who died Feb. 27, 1989.
Mr. Klein was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Guyton Klein, Ellisville, Mo.; a son, R. Drex Klein, Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Mindy K. Elgin, Spartanburg, S.C.; a brother, W. James Klein, Loudon, Tenn.; and four grandsons, Robert Klein, Matt Klein and Tom Klein, all of Dallas, and Tyner Elgin of Spartanburg.
Thelma A. Deane
A funeral Mass for Thelma A. Deane, 91, of Chase Center, formerly of 739 Spencer Street, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Episcopal Church.
She died at 3:25 p.m. Monday, June 21, 1999, in Chase Center.
Born Aug. 5, 1907, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Ellis C. and Nellie O. Whipple Deane.
Miss Deane was a lifelong and faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a descendant of one of the founding families of the church and had assisted the church over the years in various capacities, including Church Vestryman, delegate to Diocesan Convention, lay reader, United Thankoffering chairman, Altar Guild, Episcopal Church Women and the church choir. She also had been involved in numerous other projects and activities of the church.
Miss Deane was a graduate of St. Anthony’s Hospital School of Nursing, Terre Haute, receiving her Registered Nurse degree in 1929. She received additional nursing training at Chicago’s Ravenswood Hospital and at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Miss Deane was employed as an office nurse and X-ray technician for Logansport physicians Dr. John Bradfield from 1933 to 1942, and Dr. Charles Viney, from 1943 until her retirement in 1970.
In her earlier years, Miss Deane was an active member of the Florence Nightingale Club, Logansport Art Association, PEO Sisterhood, Altrusa Club, Toastmistress Club, Red Cross, YWCA, United Way and several area volunteer nursing agencies. She was listed in the 1966-67 edition of "Who’s Who Of American Women."
One sister, Helen M. Deane, Logansport, survives. Two sisters, Fern Deane Smith and Virginia Deane Smith, preceded in death.
Father Michael Haas will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

Dorothy L. McDonald
Private services for Dorothy L. McDonald, 82, 2702 Usher St., formerly of Anderson, will be held Thursday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
She died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in Saint Joseph Hospital & Health Care Center, Kokomo.
Born Sept. 30, 1916, in Matthews, she was the daughter of Carl and Irene North Carmin. On July 2, 1937, in Muncie, she was married to Jesse B. McDonald, who died in February 1990.
Mrs. McDonald retired after 30 years of employment with Sears in Anderson. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Lapel.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Kelly Eltzroth, Logansport; two granddaughters, Laura Doyon, Lapel, and Elizabeth Brooks, Delaware, Ohio; one grandson, Michael Eltzroth, Crown Point; and three great-grandsons, Matthew Doyon, David Eltzroth and William Eltzroth.
Visitation will be private. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Cemetery, Wheeling.
Kris Blume
Services for GySgt Kris Lynn Blume (ret.), 42, of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
He died at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 1999, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.
Born Feb. 26, 1957, in Logansport, he was the son of Ronald K. and Doris J. Blume. He was married in 1996 to Deedee A. Jones, who survives.
Mr. Blume served 22 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring Aug. 1, 1998. He served at MCRD Parris Island; NAS Meridian; MCAS Beaufort, Okinawa, Japan; Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Fla.; Iwakuni, Japan; and the last 12 years at MCAS Yuma.
He received many commendations and awards during his career, including seven Good Conduct Medals, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal and a National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Blume was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents, all of Logansport, are a daughter, Emily R. Blume, Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Kristopher Kyle Blume, and a daughter, Kasey D. Blume, who reside in Yuma, Ariz., with their mother; a stepdaughter, Rhonda D. Jones, Topeka, Kan.; two brothers, Craig l. Blume and William K. Blume, and one sister, Sheila K. Anderson, all of Logansport; grandchildren Paden and Pete; uncles and aunts, Glen and Bertha Selders, Logansport, Fred and Maxine Rothermel, LaPorte, and Miriam Blume, Kettering, Ohio; five nephews and one niece; and several cousins.
A brother, Donald E. Blume, preceded in death in 1961.
The Rev. John Arnold will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Zion Cemetery, Lucerne.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans and the American Diabetes Association.
Carl Felker
ROYAL CENTER -- Services for Carl Felker, 93, of Miller's Merry Manor, Logansport, formerly of Route 1, Royal Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Caley United Methodist Church.
He died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 1999, in Miller's.
Born Feb. 3, 1906, in Star City, he was the son of Charles R. and Ada Mae Crissinger. On Nov. 11, 1931, in Royal Center, he was married to Dorothy G. Latta, who died July 13, 1977.
Mr. Felker was a retired White County farmer and member of the Pulaski County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are two sons, Norman Clyde Felker, Royal Center, and Phillip Gene Felker, Clinton Township, Mich.; two daughters, Betty Jean Strausburg, Tucson, Ariz., and Marie H. Liming, Lucerne; one brother, Walter Lee Felker, Logansport; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
One sister and two brothers preceded in death.
The Rev. Tom DeFries will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Pro Cemetery, Headlee.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel, and after 10 a.m. Saturday in the church.

BRIGHTON, Mich. -- Services for James Owen Davis, 50, of Brighton, formerly of the Logansport and Leiters Ford areas, will be held Saturday, June 26, in Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Brighton.
He died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in Portland, Ore.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pregnancy Helpline and the American Heart Association.

Evelyn Gene D'Autremont George
Services for Evelyn Gene D'Autremont George, 80, of 15 Bunker Circle, Rotonda West, Fla., will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the Baptist Temple.
She died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in her residence.
Born July 18, 1918, in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lewis and Helen Kurtz D'Autremont. In July 1939 she was married to Robert C. George, who survives.
Mrs. George graduated from Steel High School and from Miami Jacob's Business College, both in Dayton. When she lived in Logansport, she was a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Baptist Temple, and was a volunteer at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
While living in Zainesville, Ohio, she belonged to Market Street Baptist Church. Activities and memberships in Auburn, Ind., included Northside Presbyterian Church and Welcome Wagon Regional Director. Most recently, she was a member of Northside Christian Church in Rotonda West.
Also surviving are one son, David C. George, Porter; three daughters, Anne L. Brown, White Heath, Ill., Jeanne S. Barnes, Sanibel, Fla., and Elizabeth J. Walters, Noblesville; 14 grandchildren, Jeffrey Keith Brown, Swannanoa, N.C., Bradley Barnes, Carmel, Greg George and Emily Cole, Chicago, Barry Barnes, Westfield, Joanna Greenslade, Sonoma, Calif., Bryan Barnes, Tempe, Ariz., Amy Barnes, Salt Lake City, Utah, Tracy Walter, Ryan Walter, and Jordan Walter, all of Noblesville, Michael George, Porter, Ben Barnes, Baltimore, Md., and Eric George Brown, White Heath, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren, Anne Greenslade, Sonoma, Ethan Cole, Chicago, and Dylan Barnes, Westville.
A sister, Violet Wallace, preceded in death.
The Rev. E. Clyde Mayfield will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

Harry D. Gibbs Sr., 73, of 701 Barclay St., died at 11:25 p.m. Thursday in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Flora Mae Reiber Patton Buntain
Services for Flora Mae Reiber Patton Buntain, 84, of 1801 W. Market St., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
Mrs. Buntain died at 9:25 a.m. Friday, June 25, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born June 23, 1915, in Warrensburg, Mo., she was the daughter of Perry O. and Winifred Hermon Reiber. On June 30, 1933, in Corona, Calif., she was married to Herman E. Patton, who died 1997. In January of 1953, she was married to Eugene T. Buntain, who died in 1973.
Mrs. Buntain was co-owner of Buntain’s Printing & Reproductions.
She was past president and member of the Logansport Business & Professional Women (BPW).
She was awarded the Silver Beaver Award by the Boy Scouts of America and she was past district director and board member of the Tribal Trails Girl Scouts of America.
Mrs. Buntain was an active member and past deacon of Calvary Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, both of Logansport, and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary of Peru.
Surviving are two sons, Darrold Patton and his wife, Sharon, and George Buntain, all of Logansport; one sister, Wilmeth Zech, of Stuttgart, Ark.; five grandchildren, Lou Ann Schnurpel, of Logansport, Barbara Butler, of Kokomo, and Erin, Cassandra and Laura Buntain, all of Royal Center; five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and one great-grandson also preceded in death.
The Rev. Doug Mankell will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tribal Trails Girl Scouts of America.
Lawrence R. Rose
A funeral mass for Lawrence R. Rose, 76, of 932 Helm St., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in All Saints Catholic Church.
Mr. Rose died at 3 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 1999, in his residence.
Born July 21, 1922, in Logansport, he was the son of John and Libreata Caputo Rose. On Feb. 2, 1939, in Logansport, he was married to Delores Lancaster, who died May 12, 1978.
Mr. Rose retired as a car shop repairman after more than 40 years with the Penn Central Railroad.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Eagles Lodge 323. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid Cubs fan.
Surviving are one son and his wife, Dave and Trudy Rose, Logansport; one daughter and her husband, Pat and Tom Hicks, Lafayette; one brother, Pat Rose, Logansport; three sisters, Jean Delp and Esther Costello, both of Logansport, and Tillie Rose, of Lansing, Ill.; five grandchildren, Darren, LeAnn, Tommy, Misty and Michelle; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Shelby and Adam; and several nieces and nephews.
One son, Bob Rose, one brother and one sister preceded in death.
Father Donald Gross and Father Leo Haigerty will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Kroeger Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
