Earl Hoock, rural Lebanon, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Hoock, five daughters and others.
Tentative plans are for visitation Monday and a funeral on Tuesday. Myers Mortuary, Lebanon, is handling arrangements.
Geraldine J. Jones
1914-2003
Mrs. Jones was born on August 23, 1914, in Lebanon, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late Ernest Harlan and Leafia E. (Seeright) Harlan. The late Matthew R. Hawkins was her step-father.
She married Robert A. Jones on January 18, 1946, in Lebanon, Indiana. Mr. Jones died April 19. 2002.
She was reared and educated in Lebanon where she graduated from Lebanon High School. She attended Ball State University for a year. She resided most of her life in Boone County having lived a short time in Logansport.
She was last employed as a legal secretary for James Goodwin in Lebanon. Previously she had worked as a secretary for the State Superintendent of Public Schools and the Boone County Clerk’s office.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, she enjoyed her family, home, and church.

Thomas Richard "Tom" Emrick, 61, of Whitestown, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Witham Memorial Hospital, Lebanon.
Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Myers.
Dorothy M. Hicks
1912-2004
Dorothy Mae (Lay) Hicks, 91, of Indianapolis, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Windsor Manor Health Care.
Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, St. Rd. 135 Chapel, Indianapolis. Services are 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, the Rev. Art Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
A. W. Rizzo
1909-2004
A. W. "Bill" Rizzo, 94, of Zionsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Hoosier Village Healthcare Center, Zionsville.
Born Aug. 21, 1909, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Eugene and Teresa (Lucia) Rizzo; they preceded him in death. He married Margaret E. Vandegrift on Nov. 28, 1986, at the Wabash Christian Church in Wabash; she died Aug. 31, 1994.
He worked as a chief engineer for the Container Corporation of America from 1936 until retirement in 1974. Rizzo was a former Wabash City councilman and served as a member of the Water Conservation Commissioners for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. He lived in Wabash from 1936 until 1991, when he moved to Zionsville.
Rizzo was a member of the Zionsville Christian Church and a former member of Wabash Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Raymond W. Rizzo and wife, Susan A. of Zionsville; a sister, Evelyn F. Rizzo of Rochester; and grandchildren Ryan Rizzo and wife, Angie of Indianapolis and Rainie Rizzo of Zionsville. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with services immediately following at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery, Wabash.
Memorials may be made to the Zionsville Christian Church, Wabash Christian Church or the Endangered Wildlife Fund.
Janice L. Fairfield
1950-2004
Janice L. Fairfield, 53, of Linden, formerly of Crawfordsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born in Crawfordsville, on April 2, 1950, she was the daughter of Jack W. Moore and Flora M. Cox Cave. Her father preceded her in death, her mother survives in Linden. She married Larry Fairfield on Oct. 3, 1987, in Crawfordsville; he survives.
She attended Crawfordsville schools and was a custodian for nine years for the North Montgomery School Corporation. Fairfield had lived in Linden for the past 19 years.
Additional survivors include sons Larry E. Fairfield Jr. of Charlestown, Samuel J. Fairfield of Waveland and Cody Lee Webster Fairfield of Linden; sisters Barbara Adler of Waveland and Melinda Kenney of Rockford, Ill.; brothers Jack L. Moore of Pontiac, Ill., Mark Gahimer of Garriot, and Roger Moore of Crawfordsville; and a father-in-law, Joseph Fairfield of Thorntown.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hahn Funeral Home, Linden. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Hahn, the Rev. Vernon Dowell officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, North Salem.

Marjorie L. Broshar
1921-2004
Marjorie Lee (Endicott) Broshar, 82, of Lebanon, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.
Born near Lebanon, on Aug. 27, 1921, she was the daughter of Clarence Harland and Edith Marie (James) Endicott; they preceded her in death. She married Raymond L. Broshar in Lebanon, on Aug. 27, 1939; he died Nov. 13, 1997.
She was a life resident of Boone County and a 1939 graduate of Dover High School. She and her husband lived on a farm in Jefferson Township near Dover for 54 years and moved to Lebanon in 1993. She worked for 10 years as a deputy in the auditor's office for former Boone County Auditor Charles Taylor. Broshar was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed her family, church and music.
She was a member of Dover Christian Church, where she was choir director for 30 years, and the Dover Double Dozens Home Economic Club.
Survivors include daughters Roxy Ann Birge and husband, Phil of Frankfort and Sue E. Timmons and husband, Richard of Lebanon; a brother, Don DeBard of Lebanon; grandchildren Rhonda L. Poiry and husband, Randy of Naperville, Ill., and Chad R. Timmons and wife, Michelle of Dover; and great-grandchildren Brock & Erica Timmons, both of Dover and Taylor, Harper, Carter, and Rutger Poiry, all of Naperville. A son, Rudy L. Broshar, is deceased.
Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. today at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, with services immediately following at 2 p.m. Pastor Mike Frazier will officiate. Burial will be at the Dover Cemetery in Dover.

Jerry L. Scering
1943-2004
Jerry L. "Corky" Scering, 60, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born in Kankakee, Ill., on Oct. 3, 1943, he was the son of Ora Joseph and Roxanna Davidson Scering; they preceded him in death. In 1961, he married Wanda Watts; they divorced. In 1978, he married Tamara Ellis; they also divorced.
Scering attended Thorntown High School and worked for the Feed Mill and Elevator in Thorntown. He also worked for the family construction business and was head maintenance for nursing homes and at Parkwood. Scering owned Jerry's Cycle Shop in Lebanon; retiring due to health.
He enjoyed motorcycling, wood craft, fishing, hunting and outdoor activities.
Scering was a member of Harvest Time Fellowship in Jamestown.
Survivors include sons Jerry and Joshua Scering, both of Lebanon; daughters Leah Shoe and Dawn Smith, both of Lebanon, Sherri Willhoite of Marion County, and Crystal Parr of Indianapolis; a brother, Richard Scering of Danville, Ill.; sisters Bonnie Strahm of Colfax and Mary Watts Lashbrook of Lebanon; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A sister and four brothers also preceded him in death.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Russell & Hitch, Pastor Art Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Maple Lawn in Thorntown.
Memorials may be made to the family.
John F. Denney
1919-2004
John Franklin Denney, 84, of Lebanon, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, in Lebanon.
Born in Boone County, on Feb. 7, 1919, he was the son of John Franklin and Ruby B. (Leonard) Denney; they preceded him in death. He was married in Advance, in 1945 to Erma Mae Polk; they divorced. He later married Roberta Jean (Copeland) Chambers on August 13, 1966, in Zionsville; she died on October 10, 1998.
He was a life-resident of Boone County. He graduated from Advance High School in 1938. He worked briefly prior to the period he spent in the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. He served as a First Class Machinist's Mate in the 7th Battalion of the Seabees. After returning from the service he was active for a period in the Navy Reserve.
Denney served as a Lebanon Police Officer from 1945 to 1947. He then worked as the chief deputy sheriff in Boone County from 1947 to 1974 when he retired. He served under Sheriffs Buck Robinson, Wilbur Slagle, Jim McConnaha, and Wilbur Allen. He also served as Deputy Town Marshall in Zionsville, from 1959 to 1962. In addition to his work as a policeman, he worked as an electrician for Smith Electric in Lebanon from 1974-1986 and also for Wayne Adams in the alarm business. He purchased the alarm business and operated as A & D Alarm Company and continued to service commercial and residential accounts until he sold the business in 1995.
He enjoyed fishing, spending winters in Florida, and spending time with friends and family. Since 1971, he spent a couple of weeks each year at the Cozzy Grove Camp Ground near Orlando, Fla.
He was a life member of the American Legion and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Lebanon. Denney was the last living Charter Member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Boone County.
Survivors include sons James F. Denney and wife, Joan and Jeffrey A. Denney, all of Fishers, and Joseph E. Denney and wife, Sandy of Brooklyn, N. Y.; a daughter, Janet L. Douglas and husband, David of Ft. Worth, Texas; stepdaughters Linda D. Hoffman and husband, John and Sandra Baldwin, all of Lebanon; a stepson, Terry R. Chambers and wife, Beth of Lebanon; grandchildren Jonathan Denney and Ashley Denney, both of Fishers, and Catherine R. "Cassie" Douglas of Ft. Worth; six step grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren. A brother, Leon A. Denney, and four sisters, Ruth Castetter, Lena B. Love, Mildred Wilhoite, and Florence Newton, also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services are 1:00 p.m. Friday at Myers, the Rev. James E. Copeland. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon with police honors at the grave.

Mary K. Weaver
1923-2004
Mary Katherine Weaver, 80, of Jamestown, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at her home.
Born March 25, 1923, in North Salem, she was the daughter of Harold G. and Catherine Mae Young Smith; they preceded her in death. She married Francis Eugene Weaver; he also preceded her in death.
Weaver retired from Wm. H. Block Company in 1988 and was a Sunday school teacher for several years.
Memberships included Jamestown Christian Church, Pittsboro Order of Eastern Star, and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Robert Weaver and wife, Mary Ann of Brownsburg; a daughter, Barbara Pickering and husband, James of Indianapolis; granddaughters Kara Cromer and husband, Phillip of Indianapolis, and Michelle Forsythe and husband, John "Rick" of Collierville, Tenn.; a grandson, Brian Weaver of Brownsburg; and a great-grandchild, Luke Andrew Cromer of Indianapolis.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home Inc., 315 W. Main St., Jamestown. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Porter, the Rev. Harlan Kincade officiating. Burial will be at Jamestown I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Betty Jo Faulkinbury, 80, of Peoria, Ariz., died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003.
Services were Friday at Sunland Memorial, Sun City, Ariz.
Ruth J. (Nicley) Stafford
1929-2004
Ruth Janelle (Nicley) Stafford, 74, of Cicero, formerly of Lebanon, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
Born on Feb. 7, 1929, in Lebanon, she was the daughter of Jess Everet and Hazel Fern (Goodin) Nicley; they preceded her in death. She married Jess Francis Stafford on Sept. 1, 1951; he survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Church in Lebanon.
Additional survivors include daughters Janelle F. Cox of Noblesville, Nancy L. Moon of Anderson, and Connie L. Stafford of Cicero; brothers Frank E. Nicley and Loren D. Nicley, both of Lebanon; sisters Lola Mae Phillippo, Theda J. Dickerson, and Thelma L. Wolfe, all of Lebanon; and a granddaughter, Samantha R. Stafford of Cicero. Also preceding her in death were brothers Donald I. and James M. Nicley.
Visitation was Sunday. Services were Monday at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, the Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Virginia Rose Lemen
Virginia Rose Lemen, 74, 2494 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 in Witham Memorial Hospital, Lebanon.
Born March 29, 1929 in Kirklin, she was the daughter of Frank H. & Mable (Chism) Clark. She attended Thorntown High School.
On September 20, 1980 she married William T. Lemen and he preceded her in death January 10, 1999.
She was a Homemaker and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Frankfort, Frankfort American Legion Auxilary, Women of the Moose, Elks Lodge #560 in Frankfort, and Frankfort Country Club.
Surviving are 3 brothers and two sisters-in-law, Frank J. and Patty Clark, Thorntown, Richard and Pat Clark, Punta Gorda, Fla., and Lawrence Clark, Lebanon; a stepdaughter: Carolyn Ferraro, Kokomo, and a stepson, William Lemen Jr. of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Archer-Weston Funeral Home in Frankfort. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Frankfort.
Memorials may be made to the local Humane Society in her memory.

Danielle B. Williams, 26, of Lebanon, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004.
Joseph William Clifford
Joseph William Clifford, 81, of Lebanon. died at 10:20 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Essex Nursing and Rehablitation Center, Lebanon.
Born in Lebanon, Indiana on May 22, 1922, He was was the only child of the late Clarence Stanley and Mary C. (Stoltz) Clifford.
He spent most of his life in Lebanon with the exception of the period spent residing in Port Charlotte, Fla. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1940.
In January 1946, Mr. Clifford was married in Lebanon to Mildred E. (Threlkeld) Clifford. Mrs. Clifford survives.
Mr. Clifford served in the U.S. 3035th Army Air Force during World War II, from 1942-1945. He was a machine gunner stationed in England and flying missions into the European Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Battle Star.
Interested in the construction business, he held positions related to the home building construction industry prior to starting his own construction company. He and Mrs. Clifford operated Clifford Builders in Lebanon 1967-1986.
He enjoyed building and flying radio controlled aircraft and had a private pilot license. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed woodworking and fishing having made a number of trips to Canada. He wintered for several years in Port Charlotte, Fla. and following retirement in 1968 resided there until 1999.
He was a member of Port Charlotte Presbyterian Church, Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon. He was life-member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge, a 50-Year member of the American Legion, Lebanon. He also was a member of the Port Charlotte Kiwanis Club, Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club
Survivors are his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Joy E. and Robert Swails, Port Charlotte, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen J. and Rita Clifford, Lebanon; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at Myers Mortuary.
Memorial services and military rites will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, with the Rev. Danny Walker and William Brannon officiating.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Abbott was born in Starke County, Indiana on May 27, 1917, a daughter of the late Vern D. and N. Pearl (Johnson) Avery.
She was raised in Burlington from an early age and graduated from Burlington High School in 1935. Following high school she attended the Chicago Art Institute. Prior to her marriage she worked in the telephone office at Burlington.
She was married on January 3, 1941, in Camden, Indiana to Clayton A. Abbott. Mr. Abbott survives. Officiating for their wedding was Rev. John Abbott.
Mrs. Abbott was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed her family, crafts, gardening, antique dolls, and sewing.
