Elsie C. Brandt, 86, of Royal Center, died at 12:01 p.m. Saturday in her residence.
Arrangements are pending at McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
Raymond L. Brown
DENVER -- Services for Raymond L. Brown, 80, of Rochester, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in McClain Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown died at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, June, 26, 1999, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
Born July 10, 1918, in Miami County, he was the son of Arthur L. and Florence Mae Richel Brown. On Nov. 28, 1942, in Fulton, he was married to Dorothy McCarter, who survives.
Mr. Brown was a retired orchard caretaker from the Tate Orchard, of Mexico.
He was a member of the Deedsville United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are one daughter, Beverly Jo Brown, of Rochester; one brother and his wife, Marvin and Lois Brown, of New Mexico; and three granddaughters, Rachel R., Martha M, and Melanie M. Zeiger, all of Rochester.
The Rev. William Shewman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Macy.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
Lawrence R. Rose
A funeral mass for Lawrence R. Rose, 76, of 932 Helm St., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in All Saints Catholic Church.
Mr. Rose died at 3 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 1999, in his residence.
Born July 21, 1922, in Logansport, he was the son of John and Libreata Caputo Rose. On Feb. 2, 1939, in Logansport, he was married to Delores Lancaster, who died May 12, 1978.
Mr. Rose retired as a car shop repairman after more than 40 years with the Penn Central Railroad.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Eagles Lodge 323. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid Cubs fan.
Surviving are one son and his wife, Dave and Trudy Rose, Logansport; one daughter and her husband, Pat and Tom Hicks, Lafayette; one brother, Pat Rose, Logansport; three sisters, Jean Delp and Esther Costello, both of Logansport, and Tillie Rose, of Lansing, Ill.; five grandchildren, Darren, LeAnn, Tommy, Misty and Michelle; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Shelby and Adam; and several nieces and nephews.
One son, Bob Rose, one brother and one sister preceded in death.
Father Donald Gross and Father Leo Haigerty will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Kroeger Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic School.
Harry D. Gibbs Sr.
Services for Harry D. Gibbs Sr., 73, of 701 Barclay St., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Marocco Funeral Chapel.
He died at 11:25 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born May 7, 1926, in Logansport, he was the son of Jesse R. and Mary Ringer Gibbs. He was first married to Mame Anett Galloway, who died in 1976. On May 5, 1984, he was married to Ruby Miller, who survives.
He attended Tipton Elementary School in Logansport, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a member of the 328th "Yankee" Division in the European Theatre.
Mr. Gibbs had worked as a machine operator for 43 years on the Wabash, Norfolk & Western and Norfolk & Southern Railroads, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Employees.
He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 60, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790, and was a member of Eagles Lodge 323 for more than 50 years.
Also surviving are three sons, Harry D. Gibbs Jr. and Carl Gibbs, both of Logansport, and David Jesse Gibbs, Star City; two daughters, Janice Lou Brugnoli, Allentown, Pa., and Joyce Sue Atkinson, LaPorte; two stepsons, Donald Shepard and Joe Shepard, both of Logansport; two stepdaughters, Carol Pursch, Logansport, and Beverly Sargent, Indianapolis; two brothers, Raymond Gibbs, Sherwood, Ohio, and William Gibbs, Logansport; one sister, Annabelle Crawford, Peru; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Art Maloney will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral chapel.
Alyssa Michelle Neff
ROCHESTER -- Private family graveside services will be held at Five Corners Cemetery for infant Alyssa Michelle Neff.
The daughter of Joseph W. and Marsha Smith Neff, Rt. 2, Macy, she was stillborn at 3:03 p.m. Friday, June 25, 1999.
The Rev. Lowell Burrus will officiate at the services.
Zimmerman Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ethel M. Benner
DELPHI -- Services for Ethel M. Benner, 85, of Delphi, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, in Horn-Davidson Funeral Home.
She died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 1999, in Brethren Healthcare Center, Flora.
The Rev. Herb Wingard will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Keeps Creek Cemetery, Cass County.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Barbara Joan Willing
Services for Barbara Joan Willing, 75, of 3410 Lindsay Drive, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
She died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 14, 1923, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Ernest T. and Beulah E. Reichard Miles. On Oct. 23, 1953, in South Bend, she was married to Paul A. Willing, who died March 22, 1990.
Mrs. Willing was employed by the Rendezvous and Ambers restaurants. She was a member of Eagles #323 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post #60 Ladies Auxiliary, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3790 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Paul A. and Cheryl Willing Jr.; a son-in-law and his spouse, Marty and Linda Pattengale; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Jody Miles, Kokomo, and Tom and Shirley Miles, Portland, Ore.; one sister, Dee Rolls, Logansport; and five grandchildren, Aimee Willing, Marsha and Jim Taylor, Bill Pattengale, John and Catherine Pattengale, and Scooter Rolls, all of Logansport.
A daughter, Dian Lyn Pattengale, three sisters and one brother preceded in death.
The Rev. William Art Maloney will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, where an Eagles Ladies Auxiliary service will be held at 7 p.m.
Edith L. Rodkey
BURLINGTON -- Services for Edith L. Rodkey, 85, of 900 Michigan, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, in Neptune Funeral Home.
She died at 3:50 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 1999, in Milner Community Health Care, Inc., Rossville.
Born June 24, 1914, near Galveston, she was the daughter of Emerson and Lora Freeland Polk. In the Upper Deer Creek Church of Christ on Aug. 14, 1938, she was married to Russell Rodkey, who survives.
Mrs. Rodkey was a 1931 graduate of Young America High School and a graduate of Kokomo Music College. She also attended Taylor University, Upland. Living in the Burlington area since 1967, she was the founder of the Burlington Music Club and taught piano lessons to many young people for 40 years.
She was a member of the Burlington First Brethren Church, where she was past national president of the Women’s Missionary Society of the Brethren Church.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and their spouses: Richard and Peggy Densmore, Seattle, Wash.; Harry and Sharon Rodkey, Walton; Kenny and Traci Sweeney, Brownstown; Mark and Cindy Mason, Attica; Stuart and Mary Mason, Kokomo; and Dan and Pam Mason, Kempton.
Dennis Sigle will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Women’s Missionary Society of the Brethren Church.
Opal Ruth Wright
Opal Ruth Wright, 81, of 971 S. Cicott St., died at 8:40 a.m. today in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Janie A. Martin Klawinski
MUNSTER -- Services for Janie A. Martin Klawinski, 36, of Munster, formerly of Burnettsville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Anthony & Dziadowicz Funeral Home, 9445 Calumet Ave., Munster.
She passed away Saturday, June 26, 1999, in Community Hospital, Munster.
Born July 3, 1962, in Monticello, she was the daughter of Ruby Joseph Martin and the late Richard Martin. On April 5, 1980, in Burnettsville, she was married to Bruce Klawinski, who survives.
Janie was a 1980 graduate of Twin Lakes High School in Monticello, and a 1994 graduate of Aristotle Medical College in Hammond. She was employed as a medical assistant with Hoehn Medical Clinic and as a designer with Klawinski Fireplace Inc.
She was a member of Burnettsville Brethren Church and was a former teacher at K'Ton Ton preschool. In addition, she was a speakers bureau volunteer with Hospice of the Calumet Area.
Also surviving are three children, Krista, David and Nicholas, all of Munster; her mother, Ruby Garbison, Burnettsville; one sister, Judy (Edward) Nies, Royal Center; two brothers, Jim (Debbie) Martin and Jerry Martin; parents-in-law, George and Joyce Klawinski; and many other relatives and close friends.
Her father, Richard "Dick" Martin, and a brother-in-law, Rocky Denny, preceded in death.
The Rev. Paul Arnold will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area.
Laura 'Alice' Frazier Clear
DELPHI -- Graveside services for Laura "Alice" Frazier Clear, 71, of 619 N. Market St., will be held at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant View Cemetery, Rossville.
She died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, 1999, in SCCI Hospital, Kokomo.
The Rev. Mark Mitchell will officiate at the services.

Gerald W. 'Cal' Scheffer
WINAMAC -- Gerald W. "Cal" Scheffer, 77, of Star City, died at 2:25 p.m. Monday in Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

Opal Ruth Wright
Graveside services for Opal Ruth Wright, 81, of 971 S. Cicott St., will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shideler Cemetery.
She died at 8:40 a.m. Monday, June 28, 1999, in Miller's Merry Manor.
Born Oct. 10, 1917, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Dalton and Myrtle Harper Younkin.
She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and retired from Switches Inc.
Surviving are a nephew and his wife, William A. and Diane Vernon, Logansport, and her companion, George VanMeter, Lucerne.
One sister and one brother preceded in death.
Dr. Horace Smith will officiate at the services.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene.

Bessie S. Reed
Bessie S. Reed, 97, of 936 Helm St., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
She died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 1999, in Miller's Merry Manor.
Born Sept. 20, 1901, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Woodling Penny. She was first married in 1922 to Carl Reed, who died in 1934. In 1938, in Logansport, she was married to Lonnie Reed, who died in 1962.
Mrs. Reed was a retired garment worker, having worked for the Gossard Company in Logansport. She was also was a Gray Lady volunteer at Logansport Memorial Hospital for 10 years, retiring from there in 1972.
She was a member of Helm Street Church of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Rita Luey, Royal Center; one stepson, Kenneth Reed, Logansport; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Anderson, Urbana, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
One son, two daughters, one grandson, three brothers and three sisters preceded in death.
The Rev. Gary Jordan, Helm Street Church of God, will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery.

Gerald 'Cal' W. Scheffer
WINAMAC -- Services for Gerald "Cal" W. Scheffer, 77, of 5416S 150W, Star City, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Frain Mortuary.
He died at 2:25 p.m. Monday, June 28, 1999, in Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
Born Jan. 7, 1922, in Pulaski, he was the son of Henry and Catherine Miller Scheffer. On Jan. 8, 1946, in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, he was married to Elsie Lebo, who survives.
A farmer, Mr. Scheffer was a life-long resident of Star City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the 63rd Armored Infantry Battalion, and received the Purple Heart medal.
Also surviving are three daughters, Cheryl Scheffer, Star City, Mary (Steve) Thomas, Brookston, and Jean (Louis) Bangel, Winamac; two sons, Tom (Dessa) Scheffer, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Charles "Chuck" Scheffer, Star City; two brothers, Albert "Dick" Scheffer, Winamac, and Paul "Pudge" Scheffer, Star City; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
One sister, Hilda "Sis" Martin, and two brothers, Herman Scheffer and Francis "Mike" Scheffer, preceded in death.
The Rev. Todd Wilson will officiate at the services. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens, Winamac.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
