Mabel M. Poole

1924-2003

Born in Parke County, Indiana on March 8, 1924, Mrs. Poole was the daughter of the late Samuel Isaac and Dora Mae (Fruits) Yaryan.

Mrs. Poole was reared and educated in Parke County. Following her marriage, she resided in Parke, Montgomery, and Boone County, including Jamestown, Thorntown and Lebanon.

She was married to Paul Irving Poole on September 29, 1939, in Kentucky. Mr. Poole died on July 31, 1982.

Mrs. Poole had been a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed visiting with her family and sewing.

She had been employed for a short time at Thorntown Textile. She then did child care in her home for families in Thorntown until 1983 when she retired. In 1987 she moved to Lebanon where she had since resided.

Memberships:

Charter Member of Eagle Creek Assembly of God in Indianapolis, Indiana

She also attended the Wesleyan Church in Frankfort, Indiana

Officiating: Rev. Alan Moody and Rev. Gregory Gentry

Funeral Services are planned for Saturday, July 5, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 3, 2003, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana.

Four Children: Mrs. Ernest (Margaret M.) Hedges - Lebanon, Indiana

Mr. Paul R. Poole and his wife Vivian- Frankfort, Indiana

Mr. Kenneth W. Poole and his wife Janice - Decatur, Alabama

Ms. Melissa R. Poole - Lebanon, Indiana

One Brother: Mr. Max Yaryan - Lebanon, Indiana

Two Sisters: Mrs. Flossie Springer - Waynetown, Indiana

Mrs. Elizabeth Terry - Renton, Washington

Twelve Grandchildren: Melanie J. Lowhorn, P. Jamie Hedges, Jeffrey D. Poole, Curtis A. Poole, Rhonda L. Grieger, Michael Poole, Valerie K. Thomas, Kelly M. Sowell, Steven K. Poole, Samantha N. Winkles, Kye J. Winkles, and Benjamin D. P. Winkles.

Fourteen Great Grandchildren

Deceased: A son, Samuel D. Poole, two brothers, Lee Yaryan and Charles Yaryan, and six sisters, Doris Covault, Edith Paugh, Fay McAfee, Helen Rubittino, Clara Coomer, and Edna Woodard.

Mary E. Halstead

1916-2003

Mrs. Halstead was born in Boone County, Indiana on May 31, 1916, the daughter of the late George Hother and Frances May (Carter) Cox.

A life-resident of Boone County, she graduated from Lebanon High School

in 1934.

She was married in Lebanon, Indiana on January 16, 1937, to Ralph Kelly Halstead. Mr. Halstead died on March 14, 1999.

Mrs. Halstead worked at the Boss Manufacturing Company in Lebanon for five years. During World War II she was employed at Adler’s in Lebanon. She then assisted her husband in Advance at the Metzger Lumber Company. When they returned to live in Lebanon, she was a homemaker.

A devoted wife, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and refinishing furniture.

Memberships: A charter member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon

Officiating: Rev. David E. Grieger

Funeral Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation is planned for 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.

Survivors:

Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews Survive

Deceased: Three brothers, John Cox, George Cox, and Carl Cox, and three sisters, Marie Robertson, Edith Scering, and Ruby Oliphant, are deceased.

Mary S. Hash

1904-2003

Mary Shepherd Hash, 98, Passed away April 12, 2003 at the Lafayette Convalescent Hospital in Lafayette, CA. In loving memory, the Mary Shepherd Hash Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Antioch Congregational Christian Church in Antioch, IN. Following the memorial service, burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery, 935 E. Washington St., Lebanon.

Mary Shepherd was born to Ida May and Abraham Lincoln Shepherd in 1904 in Lebanon, IN. A resident of Indiana, she recently spent time with her daughters in California. A long time member of the Jackson Township community and an active member of the Antioch Congregational Christian Church, she taught the second grade at Jackson Township Grade and High School for several years.

Her teaching career started after receiving her teaching credential at age 18, and securing a teaching position in Crumstown. It was during that time that she met and married bridge contractor, Albert Hash. Surviving her are two sisters, Emily Thalham.er and Catherine Summers of the Indianapolis area; a brother-in-law, Robert Summers; a sister-in-law, Helen Shepherd of Lebanon; two daughters, Marcia Roberts and Priscilla Lowe Scales of California; a son-in-law, James Scales; six grandchildren, Roy Peniston of California; Felicity Peniston of Arizona; Priscilla Roberts Stangenberg and Christoph M. Stangenbergof London, England; Ernest Roberts of Arizona; Heather Lowe of Utah and Jeffrey Lowe of California. Donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, Antioch Congregational Christian Church, 3979 South State Road 39, Frankfort, IN 46041.

Mildred A. Smith

1949-2003

Mrs. Smith was born on May 7, 1949, in Lebanon, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late Keith Gerald and Ruby Grace (Hendricks) Carney.

She married Walter Cordell “Smitty” Smith on April 23, 1971, in Lebanon, Indiana. Mr. Smith died May 15, 2001.

A life resident of Boone County, she graduated from Sheridan High School in 1967. She had worked as a waitress at the Country Kitchen, in the factory at National Seal in Frankfort and Kauffman Engineering in Lebanon, and last worked as custodian at Thorntown Elementary until her health failed in May 2003.

A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, she enjoyed her family, yard sales, NASCAR, and Yankees baseball.

Memberships: Elizaville Christian Church, Elizaville, Indiana

Officiating: Rev. Jerry Collier and Rev. Raymond Duff

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2003, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation is planned for Thursday, June 19, 2003, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.

Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Indiana

Larry L. Lutes

1936-2003

Mr. Lutes was born on November 8, 1936, near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of the late Raymond and Helen Winifred (Asbury) Lutes.

Mr. Lutes was born in Wisconsin and moved at age two to Coalmont, Indiana near Jasonville. He graduated from Coalmont High School in 1955.

He was married on June 10, 1956, in Linton, Indiana to Beverly Ruth (French) Lutes. Mrs. Lutes survives.

Mr. Lutes moved to Indianapolis and lived there until he moved to the present rural Lebanon address in 1973.

He had done a variety of work and spent twenty-nine years as a policeman for the Indianapolis Police Department where he retired in May 1994.

He had been a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his family and particularly his grandchildren. He also enjoyed HO Model Trains, computers, gardening, and the out-of-doors.

Former member of the York Rite in Indianapolis

Officiating: Pastor Rick Adkins and Pastor Paul Kirby

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment will be at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Fayette, Indiana.

Visitation is planned for 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2003 at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.

Mildred L. McIntyre

1913-2003

Mrs. McIntyre was born in Hendricks County, Lizton, Indiana, on January 10, 1913, a daughter of the late Asa and Alice (Goodwin) Scott.

A resident of Lizton, she was a 1931 graduate of Lizton High School. She and her husband resided in Boone County and Danville, Indiana before she entered the Zionsville Meadows.

Mrs. McIntyre was married in Illinois in 1931 to Rev. John Osborne McIntyre. Rev. McIntyre died October 4, 1993.

During the 1960’s she worked for several years at the Danner’s Store in Lebanon.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed her family and was supportive of her husband’s ministry.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Myers Chapel of
Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment will be at the Coatesville Cemetery in Coatesville, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Myers Mortuary in
Lebanon.

Survivors:

Two Sons: Mr. Robert A. McIntyre - Indianapolis, Indiana

Mr. John Stephen McIntyre and Wife Katherine - Zionsville, Indiana Nine Grandchildren

Several Great Grandchildren

Deceased: A brother, Russell Scott, and three sisters, Violet Randle, Crystal Hoover, and

Anna Lee Gibbs, are deceased.
