Cause of Death: Natural Causes following an extended illness
Mrs. Hickman was born on September 3, 1907, in Danville, Kentucky to the late Aaron Washington and Myrtle Nora (Acey) Eads.
She was married on February 14, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Loran S. Hickman. Mr. Hickman died on April 24, 1973.
Mrs. Hickman lived in Danville, Kentucky and then in Sidell, Illinois and Arthur, Illinois. She graduated from Arthur High School in 1926. She attended college Normal State University and University of Illinois. She was a graduate of Illinois Commercial College in Champaign, Illinois in 1933.
During World War II she worked as a secretary for the government. She moved to live in Indianapolis where she continued as a government secretary. She then worked for an architectural firm, D.A. Bohlen and Son in Indianapolis. She lived for ten years in Lebanon before she entered the Zionsville Meadows a few years ago.

Visitation is planned for Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Entombment will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis.

MS. EMMA MAE HICKS

Place of death: at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon
Ms. Hicks was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 6, 1923, the daughter of the late James Hubert and Mary Madeline (Murray) Hicks.
Ms. Hicks was reared in Chicago and attended Hyde Park High School. She had worked in Chicago in several positions including eight years as a bookkeeper for the Pure Oil Company. In 1962 she moved to Lebanon and was employed at the Meerz Engineering Company in Indianapolis. In 1964, she became an American Fletcher National Bank employee (now Bank One) in the commercial loan department. She also worked in the travel department and the safe keeping and security department during her twenty-three and ½ year career there. She retired in February 1986.
Ms. Hicks was devoted to her church and enjoyed her family.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lebanon.

Cause of Death: Accidental Causes following an accident
Funeral Services are to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at the Advance Community Christian Church.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the church.
Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Boone County, Indiana.
Brayton James Hiland, 13, of rural Lebanon, died Saturday March 8, 2008 after sustaining injuries from an ATV accident.
He was born February 14, 1995 to Danny and Christina (Beasey) Hiland.
Brayton was a 6th grader at Granville Wells and a young man full of life. He loved to fish, deer hunt with his dad and brother, as well as spending time with his Grandpa Hiland helping with the farm. Brayton spent time hunting for arrow heads, riding his 4-wheeler and snowmobile. He was a member of Boone County 4-H and loved participating in shooting sports, along with showing cattle and playing with his dog, Reba. Brayton also really enjoyed being with his family and friends while cheering them on and participating in Mud Bogging events. He loved his John Deere collection from tractors to hats. Brayton also enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, football and swimming. Brayton was baptized and became a member of Advance Community Christian Church June of 2006.
Survivors include his parents, his brother Brandon; paternal grandparents Ron and Martha Hiland (Lebanon), maternal grandparents Bev Gant (Lebanon) and Mark and Pam Beasey (Lebanon); great grandparents, James and Carolyn Swails (Lebanon) and Albert and Doris Linedecker (Lebanon); three uncles Ronnie and Susan Hiland and children, Andy and Aaron (Jamestown), Glen and Lisa Beasey and children, Ashley and Aubrie (Lebanon) and Brad and Carrie Beasey and son, Austen (Elwood). Other survivors include several other aunts, uncles, cousins and close personal friends, Sharon Kizer and Nora Jobe.
Brayton was so giving, loving and a very happy young boy. He had the sweetest smile. We thank the Lord for the wonderful 13 years we had with him. Brayton will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by great grandparents, Ivan and Lettie Hiland, great great grandparents, Ralph and Daisy Swails, and Izora Harney
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 11, at the Advance Community Christian Church from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 12, at the Advance Community Christian Church at 2 p.m. with Tab Greenlee officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s and also to the Boone County 4-H Fair. Proceeds to the Fair will go towards purchasing bleachers for the North Track in Brayton's name. Contributions may be sent to Myers Mortuary or Advance Community Christian Church at PO Box 6 Advance, IN 46102.
Verlyn M. Hine
1910-2003
Verlyn M. Hine, age 92, died Friday, January 24, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, Indiana.
He was born December 17, 1910 in rural Boone County, Indiana to Cleveland and Maggie (Ottinger) Hine. He married Martha (Myers) Hine July 8, 1934 in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Whitestown. She died December 17, 1992. They had one son, Max Edward Hine, who died February 4, 1962.
He was reared and educated in Pike Township, Marion County, and was a 1929 graduate of Zionsville High School. The couple farmed in Boone County for twenty-three years. After leaving the farm in 1957, they moved to West Lafayette, Indiana where he was employed by Purdue University in the Accounting Department of the Physical Plant. Later, they moved to Monticello, Indiana, and after retirement, moved to Lebanon in 1985, residing at 1221 Fordice Road. Physical problems caused him to leave his home and he moved to Parkwood Health Care Center, Lebanon, in February 1999. In November 2000 he moved to Homewood Health Campus, Lebanon. He was a member of the New Brunswick Church of Christ in New Brunswick.
Survivors are one brother, John M. Hine; rural Lebanon, sisters-in-law Betty Hine, Lebanon, and Gladys Boshcoff, Indianapolis; and nieces Sheryl Kane, Greenville, South Carolina; Beverly Stump, Lebanon; Janis Bayless, Marietta, Georgia; and one nephew, David Hine, Dunbar, Wisconsin.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.
Visitation will on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.
Memorials: New Brunswick Church of Christ, New Brunswick, or to the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Fayette.
Richard Dan Hoffman
Mr. Hoffman was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 6, 1928. He was the son of the late Sidney Richard and Verly (Humbarger) Hoffman.
He was reared and educated in Gladewater, Texas where he graduated from Gladewater High School in 1945. In 1950 he entered the U.S. Air Force where he served during the Korean War until September 1954. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry. During his schooling he had been employed at Alcoa and he continued with Alcoa until 1974. Following college, he was a systems analyst in Lafayette. He then was transferred to Albmarle, North Carolina in 1969 for two years and returned to Lafayette. In 1976 he moved to Lebanon where he operated two Texaco Service Stations (I 65 and Exit 137 and I 65 and Exit 139) and a Mobile Station (I 65 and Exit 139). He then purchased Hiland Alignment and operated it until he retired in 1994 using the name Hoffman’s Service Alignment and Repair Shop.
He was married in Seguin, Texas, on April 5, 1952, to Dorothy Mae (Wynn) Hoffman. They celebrated fifty years of marriage in 2002. Mrs. Hoffman died on April 18, 2002. He was married in Lebanon on August 23, 2002 to Dorothy Jane Turner Hoffman. Mrs. Hoffman survives.
Mr. Hoffman was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed the out-of-doors and exploring nature, fishing and hunting, dogs and animals, and he liked to be of service to others.

Private Ronnie Ray Holladay was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on March 29, 1969. He was the son of the late Ronnie Eugene Holladay and Brenda Kay (McIntyre) Holladay.
After being together for nine years he was married to Tonya Ann (Hunt) Holladay in January 2008. Mrs. Holladay survives. He was formerly married to Veronica Viehe Holladay.
He was reared and educated in Thorntown, Indiana and was a graduate of Western Boone High School. He resided in Lebanon prior to moving to Jacksonville, Florida.
He had worked in Lebanon at Hendrickson’s as a fork lift operator and in construction at Westfield Steel. He faithfully served his country and was proudly in the United States Army on active duty. and was currently stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was trained in weapons and artillery.
He was a man who enjoyed his family and liked to swim, fish enjoyed music and played the guitar. He also was talented at furniture and wood refinishing.

Mr. Hollingsworth was born in Marion County, New Augusta, Indiana, on April 17, 1923. He was the son of the late Sam and Martha Marie (Miller) Hollingsworth.
He was reared and educated in the New Augusta community where he graduated from New Augusta High School in 1942. He had farmed in the New Augusta community with his family following school. Mr. Hollingsworth served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during World War II. He participated in the “ Battle of the Bulge” and received a Bronze Star. Following service he returned to the family farm and worked a short time for the Indiana State Highway Department.
In Indianapolis , Indiana on September 5, 1948, he was married to Wilma Louise (Dorsey) Hollingsworth. Mrs. Hollingsworth survives.
In 1950 he started employment as a cable splicer for Indiana Bell Telephone Company where he worked over 30 years retiring in 1980. In addition to working at Indiana Bell , he and his brother farmed together which they continued until the time of Charles’ death.
He was a devoted husband and farmer.
