Mrs. Shoemaker was born in Boone County, near Zionsville, Indiana on August 14, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Richard Leon and Edith (Essex) Neese.
She was married in Whitestown, Indiana, on July 7, 1961, to John Alan Shoemaker. Mr. Shoemaker survives.
Mrs. Shoemaker was a life resident of Boone County and she graduated from Zionsville High School in 1960.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Mrs. Shoemaker enjoyed her family, home and gardening. She provided child care for the William Shoemaker family for several years.

Mrs. Sleik was born in Kingsford County, Michigan on November 11, 1930, and was a daughter of the late Jesse James and Elsie (McMahon) Carpenter.
She was reared and educated in Michigan where she lived at the time of her marriage.
She was married in Iron Mountain, Michigan on May 14, 1949 to Lawrence John Sleik, Jr. Mr. Sleik died on October 28, 1999.
Following her marriage, she resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Chicago, Illinois, ten years in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, and Indianapolis, prior to moving to her present home with her son, Gregory and family in Thorntown. While in Indianapolis she worked as a sales clerk for L. S. Ayres and Company.
Mrs. Sleik was a loving wife, and mother who enjoyed her family as well as music and reading.

Cremation will follow services and intermenty will be at the North Liberty Christian Church Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Cleo Smith, 89 builder and land developer died on Monday, February 4, 2008, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. He was born in Monroe County and moved with his family at a very young age to Johnson County. He was the son of the late Parker and Beryl Smith of the Whitestown area. He was married to Doris E. (Kissell) Smith, on August 24, 1940. Mrs. Smith survives.
The Smith family moved to Boone County in 1938. He attended Hopewell and Franklin High School. After his marriage he lived in Indianapolis approximately two years. Mr. Smith farmed with his brother, Wyatt Smith, for several years in Boone County. In the early 1950’s he was president of Whitestown Realty and started in the building business in and around Whitestown. In the mid-fifties he began building in Sunnybrook sub-division and Ulen Country Club, where he has resided approximately 35 years.
In 1960, Mr. Smith started building in Brendan Wood sub-division and built many houses and apartments in that area.
In the early 1960’s he was a co-owner of Lebanon Bowling Center and Northfield Bowl.
In 1969, he purchased the Dr. Beck Estate and developed Ulen North #1. He built many homes in Eagle, Worth, Clinton and Hendricks Counties. He also built many homes in Crawfordsville. He was dedicated to his work and, above all, wanted to satisfy his clients.
In 1965, he purchased the former office of Dr. Porter and maintained his office there for approximately 42 years.
Mr. Smith wintered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for 40 years. He was an avid golfer having achieved two holes in one. He was an avid Colts fan.
Mr. Smith was a 50 year member of the Whitestown Masonic Lodge, a life member of Lebanon Elks Lodge No. 635, Ulen Country Club and Centenary United Methodist Church in Lebanon. He was a past member of the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, the Boone County Real Estate Board and Whitestown Lions Club.
Mr. Smith was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Visitation is planned for Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Myers Mortuary from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.

Darrell Smith was born in Hendricks County, Indiana on December 18, 1923. He was the son of the late Arlia C. and Nina E. (Shanklin) Smith.
Mr. Smith resided in Hendricks County near Fayette and attended Perry Central School where he graduated in 1942.
He was married in Lebanon to Margie L. (Hine) Smith, on December 18, 1941. Mrs. Smith survives.
Following his marriage he entered the United States Army and served during World War II. He was a technician in the 471st Ordnance Evacuation Company and served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and the Ardennes. He was awarded five Bronze Stars.
He lived most of his life in Lebanon where he worked in various capacities. He also worked in Indianapolis as a deputy in the Indiana State Auditor’s Office, in the 7th District as a State Driver Examiner, and as an Indiana Excise Officer. For a few years he was manager of the Lebanon Elks Lodge and last worked as a dispatcher for the Lebanon Police Department. He retired in 1983.
He was active and instrumental in Democratic Politics in Boone County and in Indiana. He served as Boone County Democratic Chairman for eleven years and thoroughly enjoyed his tenure. He loved the activity and experiences of serving his party, state and community. He also enjoyed his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He took pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards and watching and attending various sporting events.

Mrs. Julia Smith was born in West Monroe , Louisiana , on June 21, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Jimmie and Averil Gay (Crow) Cash.
She was married in Greenville , Mississippi , on March 25, 1956, to Richard N. Smith. (The Candyman) Mr. Smith survives.
Reared and educated in Monroe , Louisiana , she graduated from Ouachita High School with honors in 1946. Mrs. Smith graduated Magna cum Laude from Northwest Louisiana University in 1950. She later received her masters in elementary education from Butler University , Indianapolis in 1974.
Mrs. Smith worked as a teacher at Harney Elementary in the Lebanon School District . She enjoyed teaching for almost 40 years until she retired in 1994. During her career she served as an active member of the Lebanon Teachers Association, and was active in the Republican Party.
Mrs. Smith and husband Richard have enjoyed, for the past 60 years spending a lot of time at their Circle S Ranch in Grassy, Missouri .
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Smith enjoyed her family, reading and being a Sunday school teacher.
